General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I have had the chrome ring come off the rev counter this week and have taken out the clocks to stick the ring back on. Since refitting the clocks the rtacometer reads about 500 rpm over. When the ignition is on it shows 500rpm without the engine running. I am wondering if the needel has moved so instead of showing 0rpm it sits a 500rpm, should I move the needel back to line up at zero??. Or is there something more sinister at work here Thanks Allan

I bought a new ecu from DTA with a 555 map on an exchange basis. Just packing mine up to send back and noticed theres no pot on the new one Dan sent me. Just the hole with pot missing. Ive not opened his one as he's put white paint on the screws to stop tampering. I need the pot dont I ? If I send mine back surely I will be buggered.

Ive got a set of heated seats in my breaker, Pass side isnt too bad but drivers side as the usual heavy bolster wear, Really they need recovering. What do you think there worth??? Was gonna put them in my shorty but now thinking I may go buckets. Cheers Craig

I´ve been thinking for a while to get a suspension kit for my Z and make it look more neat and sporty; actually the Z has the original suspension and it drives smoothly andd soft; wich is the kind a ´drive I like; but many folks have told me that the Z would win much more if I get a nice suspension kit on it, like Tein Super street with EDFC many folks have told me ncie things about it; Now they manin question is and my worry is; will it change the driven into a much more stiffed and hard drive? I mean I know the stetic and look would be really beautiful with it car much more lower, but...what are the benefits ups and dowsn of installing these?? are there any othe…

I am planning to buy complete set of 4 tires for my Z, after sticking with Yokohama some people have stated me to change to Potenza since they are much cheaper and also drive very nice; now I´ve heard about these new Potenza S-001 but, they don´t make for my size,, I use 17" wheels,,and they only make from 18 and up...so that leaves me to Potenza RE050A; does anyone have these on their Z how do they drive? are they smooth and nice? NOTE: I live in Barcelona weather here is mstly sunny all year round.... Actually I wear Yookohama advan sport they are wear out so need to be changed..but Yoko here in Spain is mostly more expensive..why? dunno..but between Yoko and bri…

From what ive read the stock turbo's max out around 16-17psi and have also read t3s can go up to 25psi easily and picked up very cheaply. How come i've never heard of any Z guys swapping to them?

whilst sitting in traffic today, spotted a very tidy black zed (same as mine) lwb (same as mine), lovely wheels and and original spolier on a k plate on a driveway. between east worthing and west worthing. Well finally done it today, took about 3 hours with the coffee and fag breaks. I still need to bleed the water system properly as im getting some intermittent heat, especially when stopped at traffic lights. I did the cut the pipes and hose mod, much quicker and easier than struggling in the engine bay. Had enough for now as its dark and cold, going to put the little bits back together tommorrow, but im really happy about getting this job out of the way, been putting it off for weeks now lol.

Hi, The car's going in for a re-spray on Monday and need to remove the black side stripe that runs around the car. How easy is it to remove? It's been on for years...is it a hair dryer job? Shamaz

Talking to a guy from Eastbourne (a seaside town dun saaf) this morning. He told me his blue 1994 Z just prepped for the 200 mph club was stolen two weeks ago. The police said within 48 hours it would have been broken and parts sold off to order, probably internet breakers sites. He warned me to watch out for empty low loaders cruising the streets, it seems Z’s are a popular target. Any one had cars stolen? What state were they in if found?

Got a vibe coming through the propshaft, been under it and theres a bit of play back and forward as if there is a bush away at one end. Where abouts (apart from Nissan) will I pick up parts like this? Also saw someone mention a one piece prop at some point are there any advantages to this and how much are we talking for one? Nice and sunny this morning so took the SWB out for a drive and as soon as I got on to the main road the abs light came on and I could here a buzzing noise from the rear os area, now I did a search here and seen the threads about sensers on the abs which I will check later when I get home but my problem is after I switched the car of it is still making a buzzing noise and I am worried it will drain the battery before I get home.Keys have been removed for over half an hour and is still buzzing any ideas guys how to stop this do I need to pull a battery lead?

:sorcerer: hey guys just got myself a zx as iv always been a fan of the jap drift scene and had many altezzas and mr2s, got this 300zx as a new toy its an auto targa twin turbo body work is brilliant condition with a new mot... problem is iv noticed when the heating is on when bringing the car to a stand still or slowing down for a roundabout etc the car sometimes can stall... obviously this isnt on as its an auto, just to see if anyone has an idea or had previous problems with this?

What is the injector size of the VG30DE & the VD30DETT are they the same size??

I have not run the zed for over 3 months so have had the battery disconected, I ran her today and she was a bit rough, so the question is has the ECU dropped the settings over the 3 months and how long before it learns again, 100 miles or so?? Allan
