zeds been running fine for almost a week now, but the other morning i went out and started her up and she has developed a rather noticeable misfire, like shes hunting on tick over, which is bloody annoying. Just to let everyone know, its a new wiring loom on the zed. day before id taken her down to the garage to get some milk, got home and it was running fine, the next day it was hunting. also gave it a few beans the other day while joining the dual carriageway as wanted to see what she could do, the auto box seemed to take ages to change gear (think it might of done it when it reached the rev limiter) i had a double pop like back fire, and then crap loads of sm…

Firstly apologies, I hadn't forgotten about you. It's been a hectic summer with the problems i had that ended up finishing off the V8 project for good but i'll fill you in later on that. As i replied to Ian in another thread I haven't had a chance to organise anything so i was thinking get the summer out the way then sort something out finally. So if you guys are free bonfire night weekend (bonfire night falls on the saturday) we could have a meet up on the friday or sunday for a bbq? Let me know if that's good for you and if not we can shuffle dates around a bit. Cheers again for you help guys :) Nick

Eventually I've managed to get the engine out of the LWB zed, without the benefit of an engine hoist and with every nut and bolt seemingly taking the p**s, it wasn't the easiest job that I've carried out on the old girl, but hey it's done now....all I can say is thank God for creatine! *The internals are forged carrillo and Arias parts thank God* the hardest part was carrying the bloody thing on my tod through the house and garage without dripping oil everywhere anyway, it's currently up on the work bench but I'm planning on putting it onto the engine stand in the next day or so, which would give me some spare…

hi all I'm on with an engine swap in my 1990 tt manual. I'm just about to put the new engine into the car but have noticed there is a noticable amount to oil in the drivers side plenum when i open the butterfly valve, the pass side is clean with no oil. The engine seems to have had the pcvs changed and the turbos are apparently reconned. they have turbo technics id tags on them. What could be the cause ????? I really dont want to go through all the chew of putting the engine in, box on and everything else to find out the engines a dud.

With the amount of "bad press" seen on here concerning some certain engine builders and their morally bad practises most find themselves knocking Jimmers door to get it done correctly. However it can often be of interest when a new player in the world of rebuilds turn up, one such player has come to our attemtion twice in the past month ( link below) http://www.idealengines.co.uk/img/header-image.jpg Now before i go on, we have no evidence this company is bad at all and as such this is not a slagging off thread just an information one. A customer who decided to source his own replacement engine for us to fit contacted the company above and had a quo…

Does anyone have a pic of how the release cable attached to the release lever? I discovered yesterday (at a petrol station in Ilminster with an empty tank and a long drive back home) the flap no longer opens. I unscrewed the sill trim and looked under the carpet but nothing obvious. A gentle pry with a cloth-wrapped swiss army knife got the flap open but I'd like the proper fix. The only things that have happened since the last fill up a couple of weeks ago is a detail and I knocked the lever with a boot like a clumsy git. That's why I think the problem is at the level end. Any pics/ hints? Ta.

im on a budjet atm so ive been looking about trying to put some part worns on the front, the rim width is 235, im thinking that putting on a 225 would have very little difference to anything apart from saving cash as they seem more common. esp if i used a 225/40/18 instead of a 235/35/18. any thoughts on thing? also is there any hazzard of going smaller im not a fan of strech, i dont trust it, but obviously tiny amounts are negliable so what does consitute as tiny? as does teh zed actually require a 225 front tyre?

Cutting a long story short i fitted an oil line from the rear of the oil tree to use for the oil pressure and temp sensor for my digi dash. Only untill now when im getting to the stages of trying to fit the gearbox ive noticed that the oil line might be in the way? What do you think? Does the starter motor butt up agaist the block? Also the sandwich plate looks close as well. Cheers Dan

I might have some engine temp problems. I have tried two autugauge temp readers and sensors and two ecu temp (the old and a new one shows the same). AC off The autogauge shows about 120 degrees before fans kick in for full. The ecu shows 105 degress. AC The autogauge shows about 115 degrees The ecu show 100 degress. The original dash temp stays in the middle all the time. Same in both nistune and datascan. How can I find out what the correct temp actually is?:confused1:

Hi, I've got this darn rattling from the windows when open slightly. I've read the posts about a simple fix on here but haven't had any luck with it. I took off the B pillar cover and found a nut underneath a small cover just under the seatbelt mount. This is nice and tight and still rattling. Am I looking at the wrong thing or is it going to be something else entirely? I recorded the rattling, in this position it is worst.
