  1. I spotted a shiney looking red ZX in the car park of the flats on Gomm Road (opposite Halfords and B&Q) off the A40 on Easter Monday - around 2pm - was it anyone here? Good to know of another local-ish Zedder if so...... Richard:rockon:

Ok, My zed has been sat doing nothing for the last 2.5yrs. It is covered in all sorts of crap such as tree sap etc. Now i have gave it a quick wash to take the worst of it off tonight but there is still alot on there which isn't for coming off by hand. Now question is should i give it another wash then break out the clay bar? Or is there another way you would recommend?? Cheers in advance

Re fitted my reconditioned front brake callipers today, problem is I have just realised that the last time I bled the brake system, I inadvertently used DOT 4 as opposed to DOT 3 brake fluid. Should I top up with 3 or stick to 4? Worst still, do I need to re fill the system with DOT 3? If I do top up with 4 will there be any long term adverse affects?

Hi guys, after tinkering with the ZX the other day I noticed that when i remove the vacuum/boost line that goes off to the 2 dump valves ( piston type) and blow into it I can hear air escaping past the piston and out the trumpet on both DV's. Surely this is not good as it seems to me that this a serious boost leak. I have opened up the DV's and the brass pistons do look a little scored, anyone experienced this? I am leaning toward replacing the DV with diaphram pistonless Greddy type where there is no chance of air leaks unless the diaphram is u/s.

For a while now, particularly from start up, it's as if I have no PAS, really have to work the wheel to turn. I've read the various threads regarding this problem and have still to get the car up on my mate's ramp to see if it's the UJ that's sticking. But here's thing, last night went out in really heavy rain to get some petrol and the steering was absolutely fine this morning. Then I recalled that when the problem first arose, it was 'cured', for a while at least, after I jet washed the car. Is it possible that the rain/water acted as a lubricant? All comments welcome as ever. Regards Ronnie

What can cause this piston crack? If you cant see well there is a crack on the side of the piston between the first 2 rings, and a piece came off. Fortunately it didnt came off the piston and made no damage to the cylinder. It just had no compression and very much smoke came out of the breather. The engine is a vg30det, cima single turbo. I just had my new poncams fitted and i raised the pressure to 1.5 bar(21 psi). Single turbo precision pte5857 billet. I'm guessing it around 450 hp. So this the limit of the det pistons????

Just a quick question, I'm doing a service on the 300 tomorrow and will be changing the plugs. Question is, To remove the coils do i just remove the 2 bolts that hold it to the manifold and pull it out or as it seems with every other job on these is it alot more complicated than this?? Cheers in advance

Im having issues with idle. All of a sudden today the car was trying to idle at 600rpm. Then would stall. Bit of history. The car had the water pump go about 4 month ago. The car never overheated. I only got round to replacing the water pump 2 weeks ago. and did the Cambelt tensioner idlers etc all at the same time. The other item changed was the PAS pump as this sounded aweful and was turning on the hicas light. The car when starting was a bit noisy from a sticking tapped but this cleared once warm as it had been sat but ran well. The car pulls very well (better than before the work) and is still now it's idling bad. Thoughts please where to start lookin…

Guys, I've just started taking the seats put of my '92 LWB to replace with leather. Before I rip the passenger seat to bits to utilise the electrics on the leather I'd like to kow if the old seats are actually worth selling? They're the blue velour type material driver and passenger electric. I don't want to take all the electrics off the seat if I could sell them to fund something else you see :)

Boost leaks are part and parcel of zed ownership and one of the most common causes of erratic running issues. When refitting any hard pipes its essential they make good sound seal and are fully tightened up, the turbo side pipes are very often the culprits but on this particular occasion ot was the outer intercooler to turbo pipe that had been fitted wrongly at some time. The faulty fitting had inverted the rubber pipe into the steel section and was causing a massive leak, the pipe been semi hard rubber needed to be warmed for a few seconds with a heat gun to return its former shape before refitting, and soon all was as it should be. Wheel nut removal hell Had a zed in whilst the owner waited for us to look at a nosiy front suspension, the car had been looked at previously at another garage and the wheels removed and refitted. Unfortunately they had clearly used an air gun to tighten the wheel nuts, they were solid! managed to coax three off but two were not for budging. Eventually with the largest breaker bar we had the nuts sheered off! not good but at least we had access to drill them out then, 2 hours to be honest of a ball ache job, the main issue to not damage the alloys. After they were released we had to refit new studs which was the easy bit, once done all was as it …

  24. I've never studied the underside of standard Z32 seats, but hoping someone else can advise... I have a pair of bucket seats chucked in the back of the garage, and also a pair of manual Z32 front seats. I really like the leather seats but I dont mind having some lightweight interior that I can throw in when I want to be dragging round less weight.... So here's the seats: and heres the bottom of them, already got 'some' rails fitted (not sure what they are from! Do you think I can fit these seats/rails to the Z32 rails somehow and what would it take to mount them? Any assistance gratefully received! :cowboy:
