when i had my decats a few years ago we pulled them out and just straped them up under the car. Now i have all the dash out and i can see where they run. I want to cut them and get rid of the black box in the center off the car. If i do this will it affect the car in anyway? Will i have to remove the bulb from the dash??:alien:

ok, so ive installed my electronic boost controller on the engine side of things now. Its a Greddy profec B spec II But either 1 of 4 things is happening. OEM dump valves have the dreaded goose honk so are not coping to well with the increased boost. my lock up solenoid fault on the gear box is having a detrimental effect and not putting the power through the torque converter properly. Or my waist gates are opening to soon. Basically with the OEM set up, you could stick your foot to the floor and apart from the goose honk, everything would boost well. With the electronic boost controller installed, you stick your boot to the floor, i…

What seems like a minor mistakes when working on engines can all to often end up with serious consequences, sometimes though early intervention can save the day. Case in point, a zed in today for a straight forward cambelt service, early on I noticed the engine had clearly been rebuilt with lots of new parts and the block and heads all painted different colours, as it was stripped I wondered why we we doing the belt? What ever the reason it was a lucky day for this zed owner, when the build had been done a new Nissan belt had been fitted as it should be and all tensioned correctly etc. but quickly it was discovered something was very wrong. The cambelt was …

As the title suggests, I'm after a replacement clutch for a 1992 UK Spec TT Z32. It seems a real minefield out there with the variants, but I'm just after a standard spec clutch kit to fit my car. Also any pitfalls when removing the gearbox would be much appreciated :) Thanks in advance.

Hi does anyone know the typical temps that a turbo down pipe would reach? The reason i ask is because im thinking of wrapping the down pipes again for my 2nd attempt! The wrap ive bought this time is rated to 540C (1000F) compaired to what i bought before that was rated to 1400F The price is more than double to buy and dont want to be wasting more money. Thanks Dan

Just got my new alarm delivered (TOAD Ai606) but now I don't know whether I should Install it myself or get a authorised dealer to do it? I am capable of installing it but will this invalidate the Thatcham approval with Insurance companies? What have you lot done with your TOADs?

Thanks to Groover and those who responded to my questions regarding earthing out the ecu wire to the neutral switch on my manual gearbox. I decided to take onboard the advice given and went down the path of checking my engine timing and setting to 25 degrees btdc. It was actually set at 27-28 degrees meaning that it was too advanced. It seems a little less fumey now, however it still smells like it's running rich still. Obviously my idle speed has dropped as I have retarded the ignition a few degrees, but still purrs nicely. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT MY NEXT MOVES SHOULD BE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATED ????????

The engine is nearly ready to go in the S14 but for the turbo to clear the steering rack the perfect solution is to fit a passenger side exhaust manifold on the drivers side, so 2 questions 1) Any performance/running issue in this? 2) How easy is it to drill/tap 6 new threads for the bolts as the are opposit to the orifinal ones? Before anyboddy gets confused this is a TT engine into the S14 body.

Hi there, just tried to search for answers...but it wouldn't let me. I'm getting the 120K service done soon, timing belt etc....But I'm getting a full service as well. I Have a 1995 N/A automatic 300zx so.... a) what the best oil to use for full oil change? and how much 2 litres? b) best coolent? again how much? c) Spark plugs? I don't think they've ever been changed? 62k on clock, worth changing? d) k& n oil and air filter? worth doing? e) rear brake pads, coz at the last mot they flag these up as needing changing at some point soon. any advice gratfully received, Adz

Ok, My zed has been sat doing nothing for the last 2.5yrs. It is covered in all sorts of crap such as tree sap etc. Now i have gave it a quick wash to take the worst of it off tonight but there is still alot on there which isn't for coming off by hand. Now question is should i give it another wash then break out the clay bar? Or is there another way you would recommend?? Cheers in advance

Re fitted my reconditioned front brake callipers today, problem is I have just realised that the last time I bled the brake system, I inadvertently used DOT 4 as opposed to DOT 3 brake fluid. Should I top up with 3 or stick to 4? Worst still, do I need to re fill the system with DOT 3? If I do top up with 4 will there be any long term adverse affects?

Hi guys, after tinkering with the ZX the other day I noticed that when i remove the vacuum/boost line that goes off to the 2 dump valves ( piston type) and blow into it I can hear air escaping past the piston and out the trumpet on both DV's. Surely this is not good as it seems to me that this a serious boost leak. I have opened up the DV's and the brass pistons do look a little scored, anyone experienced this? I am leaning toward replacing the DV with diaphram pistonless Greddy type where there is no chance of air leaks unless the diaphram is u/s.

For a while now, particularly from start up, it's as if I have no PAS, really have to work the wheel to turn. I've read the various threads regarding this problem and have still to get the car up on my mate's ramp to see if it's the UJ that's sticking. But here's thing, last night went out in really heavy rain to get some petrol and the steering was absolutely fine this morning. Then I recalled that when the problem first arose, it was 'cured', for a while at least, after I jet washed the car. Is it possible that the rain/water acted as a lubricant? All comments welcome as ever. Regards Ronnie
