As an interim measure , before getting the current TT engine repaired and upgraded I want to fit another TT ,which is currently configured for an Auto box (will be selling this in due course) The car is Manual. I understood the only change is the spigot/ Collar in the main thrust plate (or something like that!) and as this engine is not fitted supplied with Turbo's I shall use the exsiting manual ones. I can't find a definitive checklist for the changeover, but have read that flywheel needs to be fitted. Would appreciate some guidance on this please. Cheers

We had a local car meet tonight and I managed to persuade the missus to sit in the back lol, so Jamie got his first taste of boost when we went out in the Z. He seemed to enjoy it.. I mean he didnt cry, took it steady on the way down, but on the way home opened up the tap a little. Check out the video when it pulls in 3rd, his dummy comes flying out, you can tell he just wants to grin ear to ear  (first time I've posted a video so hope it works) :shifty:

You Guys probably realise im new to mechanics due to the stupid questions.. However, learning quickly and once Ive seen a job done once I can do it again... I was going to get my gearbox refurbed but you cant replace a couple of the gears and relatively expensive for the parts plus I would pay somebody to do it for me.. Theres a gearbox come up for sale near me with 30K on it for £445.. Would I be better taking this option? How hard is it to swap the gearbox? do you think it is something I can figure out as a novice?? Cheers

well after a new engine, 2 gearboxes (one auto, now a manual) the car still needs the drivers side rear sill repairing, it needs a respray as the side skirts need to come off and the wings get changed it will need one, it needs a rear subframe bush replacing so may as well do all of them. the gear box has decided to stop going into gear, a front end clunk, lumpy steering and a few other niggly issues, im actually really getting fed up with the damn thing now. Yes i know its a 20 year old car, but im constantly fighting it, its not like its regular maintenance im dealing with, its major issues that are getting sorted out, and then fecking up, and i hardly see a £550 e…

right so clutch slave cylinder is moving, pivot ball is not snapped as i can clearly see it when the dust boot is removed, yet can not get the gear box to go into any gear, no 1st / 2nd 3rd, 4th 5th, or even reverse? So much for going manual to solve my gear box problems. clutch pedal feels normal, what else could it be, ive been driving it like a grandad since it went on so as well, so its not like the box has had extra stress or anything. clutch master has fluid in as well and with the clutch slave cylinder moving, i cant see why it wont now go into gear.

Hi After our discussion about your bumper the other day i noticed a thread in the help and advice section. Dannyzx had the same bumper which is a Jun auto front bumper. Apparently quite expensive. http://www.junauto.co.jp/products/exterior/fairladyz_z32/index.en.html

I've never bought any before, is it something you can buy from motor factors? or an exhaust fitters? or nissan only? I'm after 3 hole downpipe gaskets and also the two hole joining gaskets down the system. I guess they are probably the same as other models? so should be easy to get hold of?

i picked up an engine some time ago for £50 thought it will come in handy some day ... but it was unknown / low compresion anyways started to take it apart to day Noticed that the Lower timing Sprocket was out by 2 teeth and once i tuck the head off it cam clear why it wasnt running to good all so in the 3rd pic would you say this has been rebuilt before ? as that looks like honing marks to me

Hi, I have received a couple of lower PAS high pressure hyraulic pipes today for the Z. Yes I only need one, long story, need to return one lol. Im going to install this on Saturday. However I dont know how! I searched the forum for a how to guide, but cant find one. I had some general advice from JeffTT which sounded great, but I have amemory like a sieve and need a more definitive guide (in writing) Obviously I think it would make sense to remove the end nearest the passenger side first, to try drain the PAS fluid out. Once I have done this, I have no idea how to reach the other end, or release it. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Do …

Took the back wheels off this afternoon to investigate a strange noise....... Pass side has been rubbing on the fuel filler gaurd The tyres are 265/35/18. Are these too wide? The rims are 18-9JJ, so the question is, do I get thinner tyres like 255? adjust the plastic gaurd or fit a spacer? The annoying thing is that I have 2 front tyres on order as I wanted to match the rear :headvswal At least I spotted it though as I wouldnt want that going pop along the motorway..

Today I bought the Zed home from the inlaws, on a trailor. Firstly getting it on the trailor was a nightmare, rear wheels spun up on slightest touch of throttle throwing the back end out by 2-3 feet. I ended up taking a run up, 10mph, soon as rear wheels were on the ramps there was no problems. Once I got home and offloaded it, slowly but surely. I reversed it on to the drive. Again, this time in reverse the rear wheels spun up. Guessing my tyres are shockingly bad. They look brand new and have loads of tread, probably covered no more than 200 miles. I dont know the brand of my head, but they are 225/50/16's I think I could possibly fit 235's but d…
