General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Tested both my 02 sensors last night using the obd2, it is my understanding the check engine light should blink on and off between rich and lean. even after several minutes at 2000rpm it would be lit for a good 30 seconds before it went out for another good 30 seconds and so on. Is this normal? Many thanks Dan

hi all i seem to have gained a water leak into the cabin it's coming dripping from the platic clip that holds the sunvisor (just above the rear view mirror) not a huge leak but all the same a leak, have checked the targa drain and that seems to be connected ok, i also have water ingress around the rear wiper grommet so getting a wet boot every time i open it, mine is just sat on the surface of the tailgate which does not seem right i thought it should of passed therough the tailgate like a normal grommit would, could someone confirm this for me? cheers all

hi some help needed so the story is the following just came back from a drive with wife and kids wasant racing it ,(Z as been working whit no issues for the last few months), parked, then had to go out again so had the car running until it warms up , then went to pull over just stumbled and died. Still starts, engine runs for a few seconds then stumbles again and dies. Checked errors on ecu have code 55 So today made checks on fuel pump, relay and fuse all good and filter is clean to. PTU all good still had a spare one from last time that had connections issues on Z (so i would recognize the issue has i had it before). CAS good to alrea…

Things i have done :) Carbon bonnet wrap, S2 ptu, samco hoses in the engine bay, original 99 spec front spoiler, digital dash, 3 digital gauges in a pillar, 2din stereo, hid`s, relocated side lights to indicators :)

Nice to find something for an NA thats cheaper than its TT equivalent for once. Usually its the other way round. You know the story..... hey guys. does anyone knoe the cheapest place i can get a clutch for a TT? mine has been slipping for a while, but i put my foot down today and went nowhere, the revs just flew up lol, and there was a clutchy smell lol. im really on skint street at the moment and still having to use the zed as a daily to get to work etc. so if anyone can point me in the direstion of a very cheap clutch i would be most appreciative. the car has no crazy mods and was only running 270bhp last check, so any clutch would do i guess. thanks in advance :-)

Are these any good?I know it's not the full software but cheaper than my local garage would charge for a plug in. As after last night boost jets thread I might be suffering from the DET sensor code 34 problem, and would they still fit an aftermarket ECU?

does any one know the pin is for the green wire saying in the manual for IGN Would that be Pin 45 RPM is Taco pin 7 is this right ?

About to order parts and would like to know if the following are 'one use' items and must be replaced: -Intake valve cover lock crush washers -Turbo copper washers Also, if replacing the rear oil seal will I be removing the cover around it and need a new gasket? Anyone used solid exhaust cam plugs instead of the stock rubber ones? Cheers

I removed my pcv tonight to see if it was clogged, once removed I shook it and it rattled, this shows its good, correct? Inside the pipe there was a small round metal restrictor, I dont remember this being there when I purchased the new hoses 2 years ago, what is this for, why is it there? Its just pushed in halfway down the tube... Thanks, Dan

Couple of daft ones; need to test the temp sensor, think its knackered. What should the resistance range be from cold to warm? Best place to purchase a temp sender from as well please... Is safety boost 4 psi? im sure I read on a previous thread if you disconnect the battery for a couple of hours it will reset? Is that correct? Or ive fit the gauge wrong...lol.....

As per the title, I need a silly or amusing name for my Zed. I normally go for something that rhymes or alliterates, but not too bothered as long as it sounds good. Old woman names are normally half decent. I've had a brain dead weekend so has anyone got any good suggestions? Cheers :D Alex

how knows what colour wires is speed sensor, from gearbox to connector near driver side headlight. Loom is called Alternator harness. I just need to connect speed sensor wires.

My car has been smoking from passenger side for some time now, changed pcv valves and it still the same, so was thinking next step is to change the turbocharger, are these best being done in pairs or can one be done? Where is the best place to purchase a new stock turbo or two slightly upgraded turbos? Thanks, Dan

As above, engines gonna cone out as im sure is turbo failure. Now once its out. And theyre off rebuilt etcwhat do I need to know? How do you prime them? How do I check the oil ways etc. the more comprehensive and info laden The better :)

Hey Guys, Srry but i am trying to learn about boost increase and how its achieved. (learning curve) am i right in thinking you need either one to increase boost to 14 psi? But which procedure is better? with the boost controller would you be able to have low and high boost setups?
