General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi everyone I'm currently in the process of fitting an electronic speedo converter to my Z, but having a little trouble. Its a JDM one that reading in KPH, so I got hold of one of those little chips off the internet to convert it. I believe I've successfully spliced it into the speed sensor line that runs into the back of the speedo gauge, but I also need to connect it to a (+12v) line and (Neg) line and am having trouble finding a suitable one. Does anyone have any suggestions? The cables attached to the converter are about 4 inches long so they have to be fairly close to the socket in the back of the speedo gauge. Cheers for the input! Hi guys, I got an original 99spec front bumper today 3wks of waiting lol. It's new and never been painted, any tips on how to paint it, got someone doing it for me, but unsure what to buy, last bump the paint cracked when towing car the rope chipped some paint and then it started chipping more and more. Someone said u get stuff to put in paint to make it flexible, and special primer. What order would Do they go on. Also another paint question, putting some stone chip in my rear arches can I stone chip over old stone chip or do I have to remove it all. Any help appreciated, thank u.

I went with a friend to buy an E46 M3 the other day and it hasnt half rekindled my love for the blue and white roundel. Its always been my game plan to have an E39 M5 someday, I'm just begining to think that "someday" might be "soonday". Argh dont know what to do about my zed, if I sell it i'll probably regret it but then again it is getting to be a right pain in the backside having two two seater vehicles! I love the way my slicktop looks and drives but its the longest i've ever had a car (despite probably doing the least miles in it of any car!) and I think i'm just getting ready for a change?

Sorry i cant tell you exactly where on the a446 as im guessing its quite a long road lol, i just check my sat nav quick to find the road number, but it was pretty much the same place as the maroon one, on a dual carriageway bit further down from a shell petrol station. Was going the other way so you wouldnt have seen me. Dark grey, maybe a 2 seater as the rear window looked smaller then mine, had a spoiler but not one that sticks up a lot, the ones that are joined to the boot. And i only saw the rear half of the car.

As i have been looking through some of the post tonight and the last few days ,some of our fellow zedders are struggling with various issues on there zeds on the eve of JAE ,,SO I HAVE ASK THE SPIRIT IN THE SKY WHO BELIEVE IT OR NOT OWNS A ZED TO HELP YOU ALL OUT AND SEE YOU ALL IN THE MARQUEE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.:thumbup:

Evening chaps, Some of you may have seen a thread on here posted by the previous owner - after the engine turns off, a small leak was happening towards the rear of the engine. Now, the leak is getting worse. Driving home from Squires this evening (pics to follow seperately) the car seemed to be getting pretty hot and a hissing noise was coming from the passenger side of the engine. After getting home, there was more steam than normal as well. I'm taking it to Zedworld next Tuesday but I'm a bit worried that the car isnt going to make it! Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks Alex

As stated in my heading I am trying to find out what the speed pulse setting is of the 300zx as I have fitted an heads up unit which needs to kinow this setting ? so if any one as an idea please feel free to share with me. Thanks

well my blue one has the autobahn 888 FMIC on it and my black one has Z1 large side mount intercooler on it, im tempted to switch to the front mount, its larger capacity over all and the large front opening to my bumper seems empty with out anything in it, though could really do with some sort of mesh in there to stop stones hitting my z1 oil cooler. thoughts?

hi guys someone will hopefullly enlighten me remember looking at a tub that sat in the rear of the car that wraped round the spare wheel space so you could house the speakers in Anyone know what im talking about and where i can get one thanx

I need to replace my rear plate (17cm x 33cm) and just wondered where everyone else got theirs made? I used fancyplates for my front 3/4 size one but I remember people saying they used ebay for the rear size....but I cant seem to find them on ebay anywhere :(

im looking for feedback on the multitude of upper link,arms available on the market today. i have powertrix ones which look identical to the driftworks/z1 motorsport, i feel these ones are flawed in there design as the do.collar clamps down onto a very thin section of the adjuster and on my ones it has sheered off under the collar the other ones i have been looking at are the japspeed ones which are also on the z centre and were sold by 2 fast 2 cool. i prefer that design as the whole adjuster body is used to clamp on the thread. anybody heard anything bad about this type of design?? im desperate to try and get a better type of upper link arm as …

This has been happening for a while now but want to get it sorted. So, under normal driving te car is fine, but if you've just had your foot planted and then you put the clutch down the car's revs can drop off. The natural thought is the idle control valve, so that's been replaced and it still happens. Any other thoughts before I come to a corner and the revs drop and put me in the hedge cos the wheel went tight lol

Ok, I`m finally getting to the bottom with my starting issues!! The car wouldn't start at all tonight and it stinks of neat fuel from the exhausts I have found that the fuel pump is pumping even with no key in the ignition!! Its making its pumping sound and also there is a hissing sound in the engine bay by the fuel pressure regulator!! Is this normal? why is the fuel pump on all the time? any help is appreciated Thanks Daz

Quick question. what bulb is used in our zeds? i'm pretty sure its a h3 fitment but i've seen some kits on fleabay for the 300zx with a h1 fitment. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please.

Car was all ready for its 4 wheel alignment this morning then its MOT would be at 3:30 But its developed a really annoying screech and a smell of burning rubber and i've no idea what it is ! I've checked round the full car and although the camber is completely off aswell as the tracking none of the tyres are rubbing anywhere and i'm now at a loss what to do. I'm missed my slot for the 4 wheel alignment and i'll miss the MOT today as it likelt wont pass with bad alighment. So my trip to JAE this year might be at a loss too:angry:

Just felt like I need a rant. So I'm looking for a front wing from a black K reg Zed. http://www.japparts.com in teesside have a back bumper from the car. So naturally I called them to say, I need the wing from the car if possible. Anyway, they've said that they won't guarantee colours. So I can order a wing however I will just get whatever they take off whatever car they have. So even if they have the car in the right colour I might get a different one. So I asked if he could just confirm that they have the car, which again they won't confirm. I'm thinking FFS, surely you can walk outside and have a quick look.
