Today I have to tax my 300zx TT for the first time. I know that the car is an import and I wonder if the last owner has done a bit of a fiddle with registering it, as he was a proper cowboy. The tax is £220 for a year, now my 1.6l MX5 was £250. Also its registered as PRIVATE/LIGHT GOODS (PLG) and the MX5 is PETROL CAR. Something feels wrong how much should it cost. If it is wrong I will sort it out. Thanks.

Hi, Ok, I’ve searched and can’t find a simple straightforward guide for doing a compression test on the Zed. From what I could find out it looks to me like the best way to do it is: 1 - Disconnect CAS and/or take out fuel pump fuse. 2 - Take off all coil packs and remove all spark plugs (so as to allow as least resistance as possible, battery will last longer) 3 - Connect pressure gauge up to one of the cylinders (not sure if there is a preferred sequence or if it makes any difference) 4 -Turn engine over a few times (not sure how many) and push fully on accelerator (this is to open the throttle bodies to allow as much air in as possible) Min 143 psi, …

  4. The goal of this article is to provide some general information to the enthusiast community. I often get ask how coilovers springs differ from lowering springs and how mono-tube dampers differ from twin-tube damper, so I decided to write this article to provide the enthusiast community with some general information on suspensions. Many owners install Coilovers suspension looking to enhance their vehicles looks and performance. While there are many different parts that make up a suspension system, the heart of the suspension is the springs and the dampers. So what exactly does a spring or a damper do? Well, at the most basic level springs control t…

Hi I've only had my TT for 3 weeks and have been having a stumble/hesitation issue (which I know can be many things, but fuel pressure is one) and the MPG has been worse than I expected... came out this morning to the car and smelt petrol! Looked at the back and could see a few dribbles of fuel on the exhaust but mainly above and to the side; looking through the wheel arch under the petrol tank door flap it looks like it could be around that area; possibly the filler pipe going into the tank? Is this a common/known issue? Hadn't noticed the fuel leak in the last 3 weeks but had just filled her to the brim the night before AND she's parked slightly up hill a…

Question for the detailers really. im looking to get myself a machine polisher so I can keep the motors bright.. After looking its pretty much a mine field. I want something that will run 1800rpm minimum and have velcro pads. I also dont want to spend a fortune, ie. the meguiars polisher is about £160.. £230 as a kit.. Any recommendations on polishers or links to a good starter kit would be greatly appreciated...

Had my car on Pistonheads and Ebay for just over a month, quite a lot of interest and many messages of great car, keep it. Decided because it may take a while to sell, I wouldnt tax or mot, keep it SORNd for now. If anyone is interested, they could view the car, if interested, I would MOT, TAX and Insure the car, so it could be take for a test drive. Received call last week, someone interested, explained the above, no problems. Dad and his son came to view, car was for dad, son races a RX7 car, so knows jap cars. Totally loved the car, amazed with the work, the receipts. Decided they wanted it. They said do not worry, we know someone with a transporter, so we w…
