General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi I have Nissan 300zx and I am thinking off pulling the engine out to fit my GT2860 tubs! Other than a PCV kit replace and an airfilter I haven't performed any kind of mechanical work on my zed, so has anyone on here ever taken their engine out??? Just want a bit of feedback to see what i'm up against

Is anybody on here running a pair of HKS GT2510 turbos? and what power figures could be expected as I'm informed that they are quite a bit smaller than 2530's/GT675RS for example

Finally got the part number for european license plate holder Nissan stock. I recalled we had a member who worked at Nissan dealer on replacements.. the part number is 9621237P00 Perhaps anyone knows if its in stock? would appreciate it! Thank you!

Have u got pics of your lay out of the centre panel were cd or radio goes. I have a seperate cd player of whitch dont work and an old head tunner above that and was wondering should i put a double din unit with a fixed 7" screen in? Just looking for ideas at moment. minght also be looking for plastic peace that sits there so i pratice on if anyone got one in good nick. any pic welcome. show of your interia,

Another one of the jobs on my list this winter is the master cylinder, do you suggest buying new or getting new inners? Is this a straight forward job I can do myself? Many thanks Dan

Can any use photoshop or anything simlar. I have attached a recent pic of my progress thus far but cant be final with what i want. i want the roof black satin black. the black bonnet or two black strips over the middle or at last one solid black area comming from the front area from the panel / center light panel to the edge of the top of bonnete in the corner just infront of the screen. the rest of the car i would like a metalic orange pearl like that off the maclaren p1 .cheers for any help. ps the lack also has to go over the front area were the fmic is but im still working on that bit. cheers

As above dudes, planning on fitting= Front= 18" 9j Rear= 18" 10.5j I know a little arch work may be needed which ain't an issue but just wondering what offset to go for to clear the suspension components, cheers in advance

An engine we swapped for a customer early part of the year due to low compression on number 6 cyliner was stripped today to salvage usuable parts, all went according to plan until Jamie found a quite unexpected extra lurking with in the inlet tracts to no 6 cylinder. Quite difficult to see what it was, it was also trapped under the valve quite tightly but with the head removed it was easier to see what it was, still it needed a little persausion to come loose.... does anyone know the best way to polish out small scratches on the centre rear panel between the lights, ive got a spare in very good condition that im toying a new idea with but has slight scratches on it, and i want to get it back to perfect. saw a vid on youtube using toothpaste on clear plastic bmw head lights, have tried that and its better but not spot on. I dont want to try super fine wet and dry as it will scratch it more Any thoughts

I got racelogic traction control in my car. I got one yellow wire left to go to injectors. How i should connect is just a one wire but its six injectors.So how should I do?

Under very hard braking my z violently shakes. I have read worn tension rod bushes can cause this!? Can someone post a diagram to show location? Also, I read to spot a bad bush there is normally liquid coming from them, is this true? Thanks, Dan

anyone seen this before, particularly the front bumper and headlights and centre panel? anyone know who made's them? kinda put some ideas in my head. really tempted to get the fibreglass out and see what i can make... really like the ideas of the headlights.

What size pipe do i need for the plenum bypass..is it 6 or 8mm.

I bought a front mount intercooler and installed it and now the car sounds like it is choking on air. The RPMs won't go over 2,000 and it sounds like it drowns itself in petrol. I have no idea why this is happening can anyone help. :(

I've been hunting for a 300 ready for next month when I get rid of my Scoob. I was after a turbo, but thinking I may settle on a non turbo. Can anyone give me a heads up for the performance difference? I can't find any official figures anywhere. Some say 170bhp for na but others say 222bhp and 280 or 300bhp for turbos. 0-60 in 7s for na and 5.5s for turbos. Also what's the spec differences between the UK's and imports. I can't insure an import yet but would be nice to know. And one other thing, if I got a non turbo, what are they like to convert to turbo? Is Sorry if this seems totally newbie but I've never really looked at 300's :D

OK I've also been looking for some alloys to replace the 19" Antera ones that are currently on my car (the Antera's were not in the best of condition when I bought it) What I am looking for is some high gloss black/silver ones, as that will fit in well with the colour scheme of the car once it's resprayed I've been down to a couple of local retailers, one was pretty helpful too. ive had my zed a mere 4 years now, but when i got mine there were 30 odd z32s for sale on every well known classifieds you chose to look on..... pistonheads currently have 6 for sale! just six. at least one of these is a member on here. 23 on ebay one of which is murts old car and one or two im sure are repeats from p/h and only 8 on autotrader again some repeats from other sites. so id say there's probably only about 30 cars currently for sale in the country.

Does anyone have the vertical lift Lambo style doors on their car? There seem to be a few hinge kits around, I'm assuming the bolt on ones are the best bet (though a bit more expensive) Are there any pitfalls with fitting this type of door that I should be aware of? Have recently had my car recommisioned and everything was running fine. Then all of sudden after a hot start engine seemed to surge and want to stall. Giving it a run it seemed to hesitate to boost. I have found out that the electric fan is on all the time from cold, which seems to prevent temperature to get to half way. It will still go quite well once fully warmed, but seems to faulter a little at full tilt. The only thing that I did prior to this happening was toscuff/ground the front underside apron on entering a steep long driveway. I can't see anything a miss and tried to unplug fan, but couldn't seem to find delatching technique. Any ideas please??
