An engine we swapped for a customer early part of the year due to low compression on number 6 cyliner was stripped today to salvage usuable parts, all went according to plan until Jamie found a quite unexpected extra lurking with in the inlet tracts to no 6 cylinder. Quite difficult to see what it was, it was also trapped under the valve quite tightly but with the head removed it was easier to see what it was, still it needed a little persausion to come loose.... Now extracted fully it looks like a bike tyre removal lever?? goodness knows how this got to the position it had, fair to speculate that in the past whilst the plenum was of…

Under very hard braking my z violently shakes. I have read worn tension rod bushes can cause this!? Can someone post a diagram to show location? Also, I read to spot a bad bush there is normally liquid coming from them, is this true? Thanks, Dan

I bought a front mount intercooler and installed it and now the car sounds like it is choking on air. The RPMs won't go over 2,000 and it sounds like it drowns itself in petrol. I have no idea why this is happening can anyone help. :(

I've been hunting for a 300 ready for next month when I get rid of my Scoob. I was after a turbo, but thinking I may settle on a non turbo. Can anyone give me a heads up for the performance difference? I can't find any official figures anywhere. Some say 170bhp for na but others say 222bhp and 280 or 300bhp for turbos. 0-60 in 7s for na and 5.5s for turbos. Also what's the spec differences between the UK's and imports. I can't insure an import yet but would be nice to know. And one other thing, if I got a non turbo, what are they like to convert to turbo? Is Sorry if this seems totally newbie but I've never really looked at 300's :D

OK I've also been looking for some alloys to replace the 19" Antera ones that are currently on my car (the Antera's were not in the best of condition when I bought it) What I am looking for is some high gloss black/silver ones, as that will fit in well with the colour scheme of the car once it's resprayed I've been down to a couple of local retailers, one was pretty helpful too. Of the limited choice of 19" alloys in gloss black/silver that he says would fit over the calipers were these RS Futura at a bit over £600 (see first pic below) They are rather nice IMHO but I woudn't mind something a bit more dramatic like the DOTZ Hanzo (2nd pic below) but …

ive had my zed a mere 4 years now, but when i got mine there were 30 odd z32s for sale on every well known classifieds you chose to look on..... pistonheads currently have 6 for sale! just six. at least one of these is a member on here. 23 on ebay one of which is murts old car and one or two im sure are repeats from p/h and only 8 on autotrader again some repeats from other sites. so id say there's probably only about 30 cars currently for sale in the country.

Does anyone have the vertical lift Lambo style doors on their car? There seem to be a few hinge kits around, I'm assuming the bolt on ones are the best bet (though a bit more expensive) Are there any pitfalls with fitting this type of door that I should be aware of? Basically while my Zed is off the road having a major facelift and full respray I'm trying to end up with a car that is * practical to use on the road as an 'occasional car' - not a daily runabout * not too low to get over the occasional speedhump and pothole * eye catching enough to turn heads. I'm intending to show the car next year, and maybe get the chance to meet some of y…

Have recently had my car recommisioned and everything was running fine. Then all of sudden after a hot start engine seemed to surge and want to stall. Giving it a run it seemed to hesitate to boost. I have found out that the electric fan is on all the time from cold, which seems to prevent temperature to get to half way. It will still go quite well once fully warmed, but seems to faulter a little at full tilt. The only thing that I did prior to this happening was toscuff/ground the front underside apron on entering a steep long driveway. I can't see anything a miss and tried to unplug fan, but couldn't seem to find delatching technique. Any ideas please??

Its in a sad condition and will not be to everybodys tast but its not often you will see a z32 fairlady kitted out in this kit from Japan. The owner says its a Veilside kit but I think he is wrong (there is even a pic of the rear with a Border sticker)and the bonnet is not part of the Border kit plus it should have vented front wings but as a not so well known kit it will one day disapear from the zed scene (I can hear some of you saying good:biggrin:)So I thought I would just flag it up as it is a JDM gem:yes: http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/300zx/300zx-twin-turbo/263711

I have just bought my dream car and in the process of getting it ready for the summer, a 1990 twin turbo Fairlady manual, looking for a complete set of hoses for under the bonnet, does anyone have any suggestions or recomendations of where to start and where I can buy these, any help would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers.

Ok, I've got a jap tt and had a faulty temp gauge. I've also got a rotten UK tt, so I took the full instrument cluster out of the UK car and swapped the clusters. The temp gauge is now fine but the speedometer is misbehaving. Presumably down to a kph to mph converter (although dont remember seeing one behind the cluster). If I remove the converter will the speedo work???

Since my car was de-catted in the summer it seemed a little smokey. Doesn't smoke on idle, or when accelerating off boost, or on decelerating, only when under full boost...keeps smoking for as loong as you hold the foot down, disappears soon as you lift off. I'm sure I can also smell oil when this happens, but not sure if I'm imagining that. When car was de-catted they said the turbos had almost no play and seemed in good order. First stop PCV valves?
