General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi there i have just got my first zx and not to sure how things should work etc so my well be posting a couple of times on here. Any way to the point, it looks like my turbo gauge is not working the thing is always in the middle and does not move. Is there some thing i need to check to make sure connected etc or have i got to take the thing out and clean. Any help would be great many thanks.

Following on from the flooding of my Zed (see here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?165739-The-end-of-my-Zed) I pretty much began my search for another with the idea being to buy a cheap one that I can build up again. I found one on ebay which didn't work out (no hard feelings ;) ) so had to temporarily abandon my search... However, after 7 gash gargling hours on trains and a 4 hour drive home I am now a (non flooded) Z owner again. Albeit a tired one... finally the old girls got a clean bill of health. :clap: £420 to have all the brake pipes replaced front to back & top to bottom with copper, and thrown stainless steel braided lines on to replace the rubber flexis. Slowly getting shot of all the rusty bits, after £300 last month to have the lower rear quarter sill chopped out, welded, rear arch bubble removed, and panel resprayed, and i've got to say, its the best colour match I have ever seen on a silver car... you wouldnt know it had been done, which if anyone out there has a silver motor, you know is damn near impossible! :punk:

............ Well sort of ! Haha. Obviously getting a lot of white smoke out the back, the amount of water still in the exhaust pipes was a surprise. It started as soo as the pressure had dumped the water over the floor. Seems to run smoothly however if I rev it a bit it nearly stalls as the idle recovers to normal, seems to be idling about 700ish rpm. Main drama I have the engine still runs after the key has been removed, it turns off after about 30 seconds. I think the turbo timer is knackered as the screen on it is saying zero!

I live in Worthing my Zed TT Auto is going back on the road Feb/March 2013 is there anyone on here in my area who knows what yhey're looking at and can help???

Hey peeps can anyone give me some advice on how best to polish the lips on my alloys? There already polished but gone dull also there's some pitting but no kerbing, what best to use and in what order to use them? Cheers

evening all went out in my zed this evening for the first time in weeks and noticed i could feel the gears mesh from first to second,, im guessing the synchromesh may be going im not to worryed at the mo. i would like the gear box rebuilt at some point and not replaced with a second hand one so i can keep the car original anyone had this done before if so how much and where ,,i guess the clutch is worth doing at the same time

Just received a hks oil filter, i got suckered in to better oil pressure and better filtration claims . Only £20 has any one else used one of these, there a bit shorter than a nissan one as well.:yes:

Hi Techies If I tap on forum>Favourites it shows 300zx Owners Club and states 'You are not logged into this forum' BUT if I then Tap on the £00zx Club....... I get shown ALL forums, even those restricted to subscribed members only Is this right ? Or is it a configuration problem ? Tony

just wondered if the H shaped Cats section on TT's is a universal size regardless of make? as need to replace the cat. another question is: if I want to de-cat.. will it be just a simple replacement for the mid-section?

Can anyone please recommend a decent garage in North London/herts area for Mot's and some minor repairs. Only had the ZX a few weeks and finding it hard to find somewhere i can trust without travelling too far.

After trying Everything possible to try and sort my Z running problems out, I eventually gave my car to Jeff at Zed world for him to have a tinker with and after a week I've now got the car back and it is running better than it ever has done in all the time I have owned her. I am so impressed with the way I was treated and there pricing structure. I would not trust my Z to anyone else now. So a very BIG thankyou To Jeff and Zed World for all your hard work.... It was a very enjoyable drive home..... :thumbup:

Easy guys, started my car earlier today, smelt a bit of fuel inside the cab, I thought I inspect it and discovered a tiny leak, just wondering whats the best way of sorting it out is? the metal line seems fine, and rubber seems ok and doesn't look deteriorated and clamp is tight too yet the fuel was dripping. managed to get some time today to polish up my new plenum which i purchased off of andy isherwood, got to say he did an amazing job polishing it. can also say there is no way on this earth would i have had the patience to have polished it initially. just buffing it back up was bad enough!! :yes: thanks andy, this is gonna look the dogs on my new motor :thumbup1:

Hi guys Dumb question, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the spoiler on my car. It came with it when I bought it, and looking at the import docs it seems like its been on the car since import. Anyone know what it is? I'm not sure if I like it that much. It seems to be made of two parts, and the bit that says 'Fairlady' at the back seems attached. Cheers

I'm looking for red electroluminescent strip/ribbon/panel to convert my rear light panel so the 300ZX logo lights up. Ebay is no good and I've run out of ideas. It's gotta cover 28cm x 4cm.

Hi everyone, I need some help guys, my zed is sick badly now after last weekend. I been out in basildon for a bit sideways night was epic but at the end of the day soon I was driving home i felt that my engine lost power and its knocking badly. I opened my bonned foun out cylinder 4 spurk plug was out( had broken plug) Soon I pluged in knocking sound didnt gone. So that means I was drifting on 14psi on 5 cylinders, I felt was dont want to slide but I thought that because road is gripy. What damage my engine could have now? Can it be broken valves ? Hi ive had some front adjustable camber arms on my zed for around 5 years now .I take them off once a year to clean and re grease but one side is squeaking.The bearing seem to be running dry, rough sounding and course to spin .Can these be replaced think there z centre ones thanks taff.:biggrin:
