Whilst doing a second cambelt change yesterday I cam across one of the worse bottom pulleys I have seen in a long time, not only was the back section damaged where a previous attempt by someone to remove it wit a hammer but a large section was missing from the front flange, a badly fitted/ used puller seems to have shatters the section clean off!! Of course fitting a good used one sorted it, just bad practice really and feels wrong it spinning around at 5k with a lopsided front...not good. To top it the water pump had a sheared bolt and the loom to the cas unit was unclipped and ready to catch in the fan blade..... Jeff…

Whilst doing a cambelt yesterday I came across some poor previous work that should really not have been left as it was, the zed had been to another garage ( unknown non specialist) and had a fair bit of work including the cambelt and new pulleys and belt adjuster ( expensive). As you can see in the picture the adjuster piston is not in the set position and is totally closed, this effectively made it a manual non automatic adjuster, the cause of this is simple, the back plate of the adjuster has slotted fixing holes and is designed to allow you to dial in a set amount of pre-tension so the piston does not come out too far when a new belt is set. In this case the…

I plan to pull my engine soon, and I want to do the clutch whilst it's out. Just OEM as I'm running stock power. Is the Z Centre price a good price, or is there a better place to buy - http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=35&category_id=3&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7 I haven't worked out how much Z Centre delivery is yet. I've seen some on ebay, but I've read many posts where people have ended up with TT clutches,or Z31 clutches... I have a limited window to get the engine out, do the EGR removal, fix a hole in my sump, and replace the clutch, so I don't want to…

If some of you remember i'm looking at changing my exhaust, The pipes from my mid section to the backbox are badly corroded and have got little holes behind the wheels and they're slowly getting bigger. I'm still unsure what to do. I've managed to find a place in Darlington that will replace those two pipes with stainless and attach them to my original Kakimoto boxes for £80 a side. however the boxes are quite old and looking through the pipe it doesn't seem to have a lot of packing left inside them. The bloke said if I provide new back boxes he will fit them at no extra charge. but if he were to be providing the back boxes then it would be £200 a s…

Right after seeing this thread there seems to be enough interest to try start a group buy on these : http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?171216-RHD-Wiring-Looms-new-from-Wiring-Specialties So I've started to ball rolling and emailed the company on behalf of the club and its members. To get a rough idea can everyone who's interested post your name and loom required and we can try build a group buy on them. Feel free to add any other looms in and we can see if we can get the costs down. Currently they advertise the loom at $475 which is about £308 give or take a few pence, shipping we won't know until they return my email. I'll star…

I thought, time to fit my Japspeed decats, Zed up on axle stands, Mongoose rear system came off ok - good.... Intermediate cats/silencers came off only after three bolts sheared, OS turbo elbow/downpipe/cat came off with minimal effort - great. However, the NS turbo elbow/downpipe/cat is still on the car 'cos I cannot get one **!???** bolt undone :cursing::cursing: The top bolt, nearest the engine, will not budge anymore than the 5mm that I've managed to unscrew it so far :surrender: You can't get purchase on a spanner, once it's on the bolt. I've broken two cheap quarter inch drive short extensions and for the life of me can't figure out what to do ne…

Did some major work on the 300zx last weekend including fitting pe1420 turbos, jecs 550 injectors and a 6 puck clutch. Last night the car developed a noise that sounds exactly like a plastic bottle top falling down concrete steps. Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't drive my car because the back wheels catch the arches and the brakes judder the entire car violently. I have raised the rear using my miester rs but clearly it wasn't enough and I'm not prepared to stiffen it further. While I was under there both back sides have collapsed bearings. I don't know quite which but they are apple sized and wet with grease beneath just forward of the hubs. So, the plan is 330mm 2013 D2s on the front. Some spigot rings for the alloys which I will sort out when I get home. And loads of driftworks style suspension bits. And my hicas has play in it. So can anyone work out which bearings are shot from.that description and poin…

Any recommendations for a reliable and accurate adjustable FPR? Preferably with a permanent gauge. I've been looking at the Japspeed one http://japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-300ZX/Nissan-300ZX/Adjustable-Fuel-Pressure-Regulator/p-18-1-122/ Do you run a fuel damper?

hi there everyone, i am new to the forum and had my 300zx for some 8 months now. it is a 1992 twin turbo t-top:clap:. Unfortunately is not all good news  so in hope of a answer i came to this forum to see if any one could help me. Yesterday i started the car and once the car warmed up a idle the rev drops up and down and up and down vice versa. Now this HAS happened to me before and it goes away it self after a bit. However now it has gone worse  1. the car actually cuts out straight away and turns off only when the engine is warm. - happens a few times. 2. Majority of the times the revs drop so low that its like the engine is cuttin…

Thanks to my good mate Jimmer for this evening's work on my Z. Just a little bit of offset correction for the rear. When I was over at Z1 last month, I felt that my Z could use an extra 10mm, so bought the Z1 spacers and NISMO extended bolts and brought them back to the UK with me and this evening Jim fitted them for me and did a rear brake clean up and inspection, a ConZult check and a full underbody check over. Needless to say, the car was running perfectly, all the sensors, idle, O2, balance test and everything else was all spot-on, rear brake shoes adjusted, so it's all ready for the drive down to the south of France next month which I can't wait for! Thanks…
