General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hopefully doing a boost leak test Thursday, is there a how to guide? I've forgotten how to find the howto section on the site. I remember reading that 5psi is enough to find leaks, but am I able to use the gauge in the car, or do I need another? and should I put my ignition on for the boost controller or does that not make a difference? Any other tips and advice is welcome as always.

Why is it that sometimes more often than not its when my cars first being used/ it stinks of petrol? i now its yet to be set up cas ive put a hudge fmic on her but it was straped up to a consult i beleave/ hope , and everything is as it should be , like revs, most of the time apart from the first mile when at the fisrt junction the revs bounce a little around the 6k to the 7.5 k but thats when could and ive just got to the first junction, after witch the revs sit were they should do. the heater comes on within the fisrt mile and the temp is were it should be before i get to the secound mile. but in any time after in the day i can smell a strong smell of petol and even hav…

Ok I have been a member on this Club for a while, 1. I have seen members donate to another members who's was having a bad time 2. I have started a "yes you can have this / these for free but you MUST pass them on when you have finished with them (for Free!) 3. I,m driving my 89/90 swb manual n/a slicktop zed..... She's been in my life for the past 4years and finally looks like she's perfect lol. I've spent lots of hard earned pennies to get her here ( way more than I tell my wife ...!!!).. So now people ask me ,what's she worth?. I haven't done an agreed valuation for insurance.. And I don't seem to have much to compare against as there seem so few of these slicks around... Thoughts anyone....?.. Richie

Hi all.... Right, after i washed the car at the weekend i noticed that there was a bit of water on both seats. I wasnt overly worried as i hadnt resealed T top rubbers, I saw a thread that Jeff put up putting in some silicon sealant. Did that, but have noticed that at the back of the windows. towards the top there is a gap between the window and the body of the car Now before i start taking off the door cards to have a look, is there a way to adjust the windows so they close tight against the body? Well today I went to pick up a front bumper donated to the ' get rid of the veilside bodykit ' fund...... lol Neil shortz has sponsored the oem front bumper replacement and kindly spent some time with me making me realise how I need to get my Z back on the road.... I got to follow him for a while in his Z and just wished I was in mine as well instead of my daily driver..... lol I wanted to thank Neil for allowing me to waffle on for so long and help me out so much........ I did manage to solder on an injector connector for him, but didn't come close to repaying his kindness and help..... I also got to have a look at another members Z with starting issues b…

As above all, trying to remove the N/S front drop link managed to get one off the nuts nearly all the way off then the inner one started to spin in the spanner & is now nearly rounded off. The one at the ARB end isn't budging :-( Any helpful tips or advice? Cheerz J

In relation to my other tread think it was uncalled for locking the tread up like that. It was a genuine question and not a for sale tread. I did look on line for a guide price for these alloys but had no luck. The fact I live in Ireland should be proof enough that I wasn't going to sell a set of alloys and tires on a uk site with shipping costs etc any way, rant over. When I bought my Z, it had a 2 stack JVC head unit as can be seen below - this was waayyy before re-trim time and was exactly how I had it when I bought it - I was lucky enough to have some studio photos taken of my car for Japanese Performance magazine. It was actually an OK system, but because it was Japanese supply, no RDS and the frequencies were at a different range, so it had to go - plus I didn't really want a tape deck anymore! I went out and bought an Alpine IVA-W200RI touchscreen and ordered a double-din fascia from z32-zone in Japan - the first and only one of these to be fitted over here that I am aware of - this was back in 2008, long before …

Getting a set of alloys refurbed, there nearly done just need to put the bolts back on the rims and get the tires back on, what do you guys think there worth when finished? There 17's Impul rs and will be mint when finished.

Hi, I've had to pull the plenum for a second time because I stupidly missed a hidden hose. To get to it I had to remove the hard pipe that the heater hose goes in to. It's the one with two 10mm bolts by the EGR. The question is do I need any sealant between the pipes when refitting. There is no gasket and didn't seem to be any sealant residue there. Cheers

Ok so whilst waiting for my Zed to come back home, the only part of the car I have is the front bumper. I have been contemplating with the filling in of the 2 holes for the driving lights in the front bumper, as I think they date the car a bit. To my mind filling them in would make the front of the car less cluttered. (Number plate removal would be even better, lol) My car below, black Zed without holes (and number plate) What do you guys think? Any opinions welcome!

Hi Guys, have a little problem, my zed is finally back together but i still have the problem of the gearbox not getting past 2nd. Some of the finger pointing has been at the Gearbox ECU. The Car is a NA Auto, the box got swapped with a TT box, ( lectures later) So what i'm after is a Zed owner nearby who wouldn't mind "lending" me his ECU whilst i take it up the road for a test. I suppose na or TT prob wouldn't matter just to prove a point. Now i live just south of cambridge, in a village called Meldreth, so i'll let you make the decision whether to come or not. Hi all, finally got round to fitting my Meisters, when removing my n/s front Ohlins i found a broken/split gasket on the top mount. Just wondering if i need to put a new gasket in place before fitting my Meister R's? Cheerz James

Hi all, I just wanted to take a couple of mins to send a massive and sincere thanks to Lee Dent and Ian (300ZX_666) for helping me out today after I wrote my Zed off on the M6 on Monday :( Unfortunately I think it's safe to say that the car isn't worth repairing but I'm extremely grateful for Lee and Ian's help in getting the car back to Lee's where it can be checked over to see what options I've got with the parts. Thankfully no one was hurt but I feel like I've let everyone down on this forum for being involved in yet another Zed being taken off the road. Will a uk rear bumper fit the import model ok. I'm bidding on one on the bay and just thought are they interchangeable???
