General Discussions - 300ZX Related

This isn't a new problem, I've just noticed its not coming from where I thought it was originally. I was going over my engine bay today looking for PCV hoses that I have yet to fit and I thought id have a listen for the noise. Basically its a shrill noise at 1.5k and at 2.5k coming from the drivers side of the engine, its been there for 18months and I have no smoke on that side. My left bank smokes at Idle but we have pretty much narrowed it down to PCV hoses (thanks to duffer and smw1). Could it be a dodgy injector? after about 2 miles and once the engine is warmed up the noise dissapears and only reapears the follwing day when left toit over night. I only n…

Hi guys, need to call upon your knowlege again please. I am going to replace the super chip ecu soon with a JWT, what boost can I safely run with the JWT chip? The car is standard apart from the super chip and air filter. Also, I have noticed that some people using a SE chip, is this better than JWT? What are the differances? Thanks.

Recently my car has had a shaking/ juddering problem, it does this at about 100mph onwards, i have had new tyres put on all round and balancing, but the problem still exists. What can this be? pleaze help as i have a need for speed....

:dance: i recently went to purchase a set of front brake disks for my 1990 j-spec 300zx. what an arse ,why are these a different to all other z's and where is it possible to buy a set that actually fit . can anyone tell me where in this country they stock these early model disks already fitted two wrong types ,getting annoyed , just wanna give it some gas but i can't play with no brakes .

I know its been asked before & I will get called thick to put it mildly! With the evenings drawing in! So can I just simply buy and replace my 55 Watt bulbs to 100 Watts without blowing anything up or burning any wires out!! And if its that simple why the Fxxx dont they fit them in the first place? I was going to change the auto transmission fluid this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Jap (mine) pan gasket is the same as the UK gasket ? (In case I get blank looks from the local Nissan dealer) Is there anything else I should buy while Im there ? Thanks John

Hi y'all, I am looking for a photo from the front or front quarter of a silver ZX with OEM bumper (not 99 spec JDM) and number plate in UK position and matt black stripe filling in the gap between the sidelights (as stock). For example: this is "wrong": Because although the bumper is stock spec, the number plate is too low (dangling down when it "should" be between the sidelights) and the space between the sidelights "should" be matt black. Pics or links gratefully received. TIA - Gio

The alloys that i'm looking at are blitz 03's very nice but they are advertised as fitting NISSAN SKYLINE/TOYOTA SUPRA/LEXUS 300, now i thought skylines have the same fitting etc at 300's but i didnt know about the supra?? So wheels that fit a supra also fit a 300?? I dont want to buy them and find out they dont fit :rolleyes: Cheers Kirbz

Just in the process of replacing the heater matrix at the moment on my manual, (what a twat of a job!) Anyway, the carpets pretty damp and stinking of coolant. Could just give it a clean but I thought it could be an opertunity to fit a new one... Has anyone attemted, and succesfully cut a carpet to fit. I guess this would be tricky beacause of the shape, or know of where I could by a Pre- shaped one. Am after a cream colour. Thanks Andy

Can anyone tell me how I can test the rich/lean mixture to see if I have it set right? Seems to be smelling a bit (and I really am going through petrol! - yes I KNOW! Who Isn't!) I'm told I can buy a dial to show the mix real time, but is there an easier way?

Just had some luvlie new backboxes fitted courtesy of Mark at Tube Torque, Macclesfield. He pointed out to me that the balance pipes off the back of the turbos have been disconnected, presumably when the original s/s exhaust was fitted. He advised that they should be re-fitted and gave me a few reasons why. But, I'm sure I've heard other saying why they are better left off. Any thoughts?

Finnaly got my zed running again after a couple of weeks of problems, but it's running rough as hell... It happens throughout rev range, and is almost put - putting!! I've searched and found a few similar problems, but nothing quite the same!? ECU's only got fault code for temp sender (which it had before), so this shouldn;t be the cause!! Anyone any ideas? I've replaced the spark plugs, and at some point PTU, CAS and soldered the TPS in an attempt to track down probs. I've cleaned all connectors in sight and checked hoses! How do i check the injectors?? (i've turned the CAS with the ignition on, and they are firing, but i don't know how well etc... …

i live in the UK and i have just bought a 1990 2 seater non-turbo z it has 72k on the clock and on the whole im very please with it ok i have a few strange noises... there is a small vent dead center in the top of the roof on the inside , im thinking maybe aircon temp senser?..it is making the most anoying wirring noise? from the drivers wing behind the wheel there is a strange water sound almost like a quiet gurgle? i took out the indicater(side repeater lamp) and there seems to be some water container in there? i have no clue what this is..help someone? it has alot of road noise from the rear is this normal..i never driven anything with tyres on this si…

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1991 TT 300z with 60k miles for around £2K. This car has a blown head gasket. What are the chances that the head is warped or the block cracked? Thanks in anticipation, Matt.

Folks, I think it's just that I'm now used to the power of the car, but I was wondering if perhaps I'm not getting all of the power I could from my stock TT. Outside of modding it, I'd like to check it over and make sure it's firing on all cylinders (more metaphorically than actually!) One thing I've been considering is boost leak, which leads me to this dumb question: When I'm accelerating hard and the turbos are doing their stuff, should I expect to hear a hissing sound, or does that suggest a leak somewhere? My brakes are making a really irritating creaking noise when i use them,it seems to be coming from underneath the car but i could be wrong. There's plently of fluid and the brakes seem to work ok???? Anyone any ideas as to what it could be??? Alex alex.tcsoho@virgin.net

Being new to this Rolling Road lark, what should I do to prepare my car to go on a rolling road. Oil change, filters, brown pant's, book the trailer to get the car home etc.... Mike
