Hi all, Can anyone tell me what actually happens when a turbo blows/fails, or whatever. Will this stop the car from running/starting, or does it just smoke like hell and losec power?? Thanks Paul N

Hi Chaps/esses From what I can make out the Turbo Timer should cut off the engine when it reaches 0!. All though mine just loops back round to the number that was set. ie, set it to 4, clocks down to 0 and then goes back to 4 again. Basicly it is just going in a loop?... It only has two buttons which are on/off and set.. Any Ideas or is this just :xxx: ered?. Cheers.

Here's something new - someone actually trying a new idea - couldn't believe it, nearly fell off my chair - thought all development that could be done on cars had been done and certain people knew everything but hey ho.... You learn something new every day.... Oh, you want the link? :D http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm Gonna give this a try although my lights are pretty good usually. First point to check if your lights are bad is the the lenses/front glass are clean - if not, start with those.... There's no point generating more light to just lose it in a film of dirt.... 7. Started by siraff,

Today i put mig tips in my car. 1.0mm. They worked a treat and boost went up to a healthy 1.0bar on my Greddy gauge. Good idea? not sure because it ran fine all day, smooth and powerful, but on the way home (taking it easy for the first time in the day) i started to smell oil. Checked oil pressure and fine, boost fine, temp fine. stopped and there was loads of smoke from under the bonnet. Left it shut for a min incase of fire, then opened the bonnet. oil all over the left hand rear of the engine bay and it was dripping down to smoke off the exhaust. went to check the oil level and found that the dipstick had blown itself out. I thought this was the end of my troubles as i…

Could turbo's from a RB26DETT be made to fit our engines or would the cost involved for alterations not be worth it, i.e PITA.:slap:

Hi, I have just purchased a lovely 1990 Manual ZX from Japan. I would like to know how much power it is quoted at. I always thought it was around 280 but I have been told by someone that manual's had more power than auto's, something in the 300 region. Anyone clear this up for me. I also have a upgraded exaust on mine. What sorta power increase can I expect roughly from it? Many thanks, Justin:-)

Help! I recently bought a UK ZX TT auto - liking the car, BUT it is having problems with stalling that seem to be getting worse. It seems to: Stall on heavy breaking Have an eratic idle which can sometimes lead to a stall and very recently it has stalled at speed - upon accelerating from rest. Each time, I've had no problems getting it started again after the stall. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

When the speedo is converted to MPH (using the cheap method), does the odometer and trip counter continue to rack up the distance in km or does it start using miles?

Occasionally I get the following things happening which I want to fix ;) 1. HICAS light on 2. ABS light on 3. Heavy steering 4. Speedo either drops to 0kph or 180+mph. Then later in the journey everything will sort itself out. The speed sensor was changed (according to service history) last year, but these symptoms point to a fault with it dont they? The problem happens in wet near 100% and occasionally in the dry too (this morning). I've read that the SS is located on the underside of the gearbox - can I access this from underneath using axle stands? I should check the wiring and connections I suppose? Cheers folks Pete

I've asked this before and nobody knew anything... I'd love a rally-style LED display showing what gear the car's in, no point in an auto but I think they look great  Just the simple bright red LED ones, none of the complicated LCD gubbins ;) Anyone know anything about them? Where to get them from? Cheers Pete
