About 4 years ago when my z was my daily driver my horn was going off in works car park on, off, on, off etc. I had to pull the fuse out to get it to shut up, I drove without a horn until sorn. Need to get my horn fixed before I put my front bumper back on, I have ditched the stock horns years ago and bought some more. I can't get them to work, fuse OK, Relay OK and continuity to the horn wires OK. A couple of pics underneath to see what I've got, I have tried both spades on the horns and the earths have been done correctly, any ideas? Would like to use existing wiring if possible.

From my understanding the z32 has a variable effect on powersteering. This is determined depending on speed, low speeds more assistance high speed more resistance, so the car is easier to manorve at low speed but planted when at high speed. I understand there is a seperate ECU for the PS, so how does it work? The PS pump has no electrical hook ups, the speed of it increases with RPM so how on earth does it work? Is there a solenoid that closes down as you get faster effectively reducing assistance? Why am I asking? Well I have a little idea in my head that involves the stock PS pump going bye bye, and being replaced by an electronic one from an Astra, I just don't want…

Hi all, I plan to do a self diagnostic as described by Jeff. As I have to take it for a 3/4 mile warm up  & planning to do an oil change too! My question is; once I start this sequence is there a time limit from one to the next? Maybe someone will answer by the time I get back:hyper:

Took my zed today to a body shop looking for options for new paint, I initially wanted a similar red to what it used to be pre-fade, but the guy suggested mixing glitter with the paint to add a bit of bling. He had done this to his works van but it wasn't there at the time. He said I could pop down anytime and see the results on his van! Got me thinking if anyone has come across this or has anything similar on their cars? I d love to see what it looks like!!!

This is what I recorded yesterday using ECUtalk. I edited the video down to 4:15, just from the time I got on the interstate and exited again. Apologies for all the clicking picked up by the microphone, the only thing I can think is it was rubbing on the leather seat? I think everything looks normal. Car did not go into safety boost, which is what I was hoping I would get so I could record what the engine was doing when it occurs. My theory of a faulty MAF seems to be disproved by this recording, at 6,000 rpm with 3.26 volts on the throttle (and about 10.5 psi boost) the MAF was at 4.16 v (this is at approx. 110 mph, in 3rd gear- automatic transmission).…

I have a few problems had to keep my car parked at work for a week due to having no brakes. Basically what happened is when i bought the car the brakes were hardly there drove home at 60mph took me a while as it was 300mile trip one way :) i was advised when i bought the car that it needs new brake discs which i was supplied by the seller, it obviously needed new pads. when i took it apart i realised that inner brake pad had still half of it there so tried to push the pistons. no chance. So ordered reconditioned 30mm aluminium brake calipers from brakeparts.co.uk but the brake pad pins does not fit they are too short which surprised me as the ones on the car was…

Was having a look round a new owners car the other night and the exhaust seemed to be blowing on the passenger side. Anyway, he said its been misfiring etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I think the injector is back in cylinder number 2 (passenger side). Pulling the coil pack plug on the cylinder and there was no drop in revs. Timing etc was perfect. I tried it with a screwdriver on the back of the injector and couldn't feel the pulse. Pulled the spark plug and the guy said it was getting spark in the side of the plenum. But a SMALL puff of white smoke came out of the cylinder (I didn't see it). S I'm gonna mind my multimeter to test the injector, but I…

So I purchased one of those Consult USP boxes on Ebay with "Nissan-14" on it, downloaded VCP drivers for it from FTDIchip.com. All seemed to work on my Windows 7 laptop, and when plugged in to the 300zx TT. Connected ok (COM 9) and went through all the steps of choosing gauges to display. Everything seemed fine- except for one anomaly. It would not show the speed. I tried both imperial and metric (mph and km/h). My speedometer is working perfectly. Once I started driving with the laptop plugged in, about a mile from my home the power steering suddenly stopped working, and within a minute the HICAS light came on. I pulled codes, it said I had a code 14- vehicle s…
