Ok so before I changed my gearbox over I got a friend mechanic to plug the diagnosis machine he has, but he only had a 200zx code reader which did read all the gearbox info and the other engine codes what I'm wondering here is will this be a reliable source of data? As in can it give me incorrect readings if I were to run other diagnostic in the future?

I had my intake smoke tested a couple weeks ago, and found that my LH recirc valve was leaking. Also the vacuum hose to it had a leak. But there was a major amount of smoke coming out of the area, and I thought something else was going on. So I started testing my vacuum lines again. I found that the short 6mm hose from the left of the balance tube would not hold vacuum. It connects to a hardline on the engine, right next to the IACV/AAC, which goes to the front of the engine, then another 6mm hose connects to a hardline under the LH throttle hose, then to one of the ports marked "purge" on the carbon canister. Hi I rarely come onto the forum these days but am interested as to one of the clubs top people ever finished that massive high power 300zx build. There was only one I can recall and others that have been on here will surely remember it. It was the topic of who has the most powerful Z cars many times. I don't think it was finished to the owners satisfaction a couple of years ago. Just interested in where that pretty amazing car got to and what kind of spec it ended up at? Can anyone point me in the right direction I'm not too familiar with the forum these days. Great to see plenty of Z enthusiasm still remains though.

Ok, not sure how I do this, but I'm sure someone here must have done it before. I've transplanted my Zed engine etc, into a new shell, as the original body was rotten. The shell didn't come with a V5, as it had came from a breakers, so technically, DVLA wise, not a car, just scrap. My old (donor) Zed, is still registered (SORNed), but is now merely a rotten shell. I was going to ring round, see if any breakers wanted to come for it today, when I realised that technically, to the DVLA, it's still a car, I have a V5. So what do I do? Can I stick my 92 plates from my donor Zed onto my newly build Zed (1990 shell), and change the details (VIN, …

Hi people, l was considering building a track toy a couple of years ago! So I went and bought a slicktop swb non turbo! At the time it seemed a bargain hence the reason I purchased. I have finally found time now to actually go ahead and make a start on this car, however, I don't have much knowledge on non turbo Zeds. 1. Are non turbo engines good for track days? 2. What mods can I do to increase horsepower? And generally any info to improve the car? Thanks!

Having been reading up on things recently I noticed that upon inspection my heads are stamped 10Y, not 40p which from my understanding are late spec NA heads...I paid a lot of money a few years back and got ripped off, now it turns out I may have been ripped off even more than I realised. Not happy and need to work out for sure either way. It looks like il be throwing this engine in the bin at this rate.

I'm currently driving with my O2's unplugged. Only driven it a few times and not very far. I'm curious what damage this could cause if any

Evening all, anybody got suggestions on loosing stonechip on rear bumper? Is it moulded into the bumper during manufacture? Does it sand down very well? I personally don't like it and want to loose it before fitting diffuser. Thanks

Just wondering what ya's think really. So I'm debating on pulling my 99 spec Front on the car, but also considering whether to paint the mounth on the 89 spec one as I think it makes the number dated. D you think it'd look better with that grey bit painted the same as the rest of the car?

Here we go. If i cold start a car it revs to 1.5k and then drops to 950 after 30min driving or so when in neutral at trafic lights it revs at 1.5k again and if i disconect iacv yellow plug and plug it back revs drop back to 950 for 30mins. Replaced iacv twice any ideas why ?

Spent days cleaning and prepping the head ready for new valves and stem seals, cleaned part of the block today and noticed this, scoring in the bores and in one cylinder if use my fingernail, i can feel the scores. Is this still useable or is it block out to be honed, then i guess over size pistons etc.. camera not great, this is about as close as i could get Advice please.

taking out the fan and it ever so slightly knocked against my koyo rad and now i got a whispy leak! any ideas on how to fix or details on anyone that can fix it for me i am near St Ives in cornwall. dan.

Can anybody confirm if the tt rear sway bar is solid or hollow? Reason I ask is that the service manual doesn't quote an inner diameter for the ukdm zed but quotes it for the us and australian rear sway bars?

ok, Got me this new loom and since the old one was so foo bared I'm finding it hard to match up connections. Anyone tell me what's what ? A few are obvious because of there location like the very ends but kind stuck with the one that's got the large boot on it and a few of the skinner one.

On way back from meeting going along M20 at 70 mph no problem. Came off Mway & engine starts to hesitatate put throttle down picks up, Take foot off gas engine fades then picks up! Get home engine on idle 1000rpm smooth. Take revs to 2000rpm engine drops to 1700 then back to 2000! This happens up to 4500rpm same thing engine drops then picks up! At 5000rpm it remains at 5000! Where do I start looking?:confused:

hi , took zed out yesterday noticed speedo had a mind of its own needle raced upto 80/100, in fact quite erratic ,but I was only doing 10mph in traffic I've had a kph to mph chip fitted about 4 years ago as the car is an import , no heavy steering probs from hicas , do you think the converter is fooked or am I missing something, I've stripped the fascia cluster surrounds off looking to see if anything has fell off but it seems fine thanks guys
