  1. There is something up with my zed. It got really hot last time I drove it, the oil temperature was up at 95 rather than it's usual 80 and I only have stock water temp gauge so the water was between very hot and very cold. It got hot under very light driving but seemed to plateau at 95, I couldn't get it down and shut it off. The oil is the same as always, just changed along with the oil filter. Other things I have disturbed recently shouldnt have an impact on the temp. I thought the viscous fan may be shot, but after a read up and a look this morning, it seemed fine. Turned fine by hand, whooshed on start and very quickly went quiet. The oil pressure is good and…

Hi guys. Just another plea for help really. I changed the rear near side wheel bearing because of the awful noise coming from that side, the noise stopped when i went around a left hand turn so by diagnosis ended at the wheel bearing. Ive replaced the diff oil too just in case. Anyway, i finished the wheel bearing and took it for a quick run to enjoy the noise free drive, not the case... the noise is still there and if anything has gotten worse while its been stood having the bearing work done. Any ideas of what it could be. I simply do not understand as the wheel bearing was bad and looked well worn when i swapped it, i thought for sure it was that. …

  3. Hi guys, I have now bought my old Zed back (Blue 94 Jap TT Manual import). The engine and gearbox are all really good with around 70k on the clock, pulls like a rocket, doesn't smoke at all, but I am interested in bigger power... So Medallion Man has his built silver Zed for sale, and it has a forged block with all the ancillaries, pipes, clutch etc. Ready for 500bhp or so which is perfect, but the chassis and tubs have gone... So I am playing with the logistics of buying it, and swapping out engine and box into my baby along with some new Tubs . I have a bit of money on the way so buying the car wouldn't be a problem (convincing the girlfriend I ne…

  5. Following in from my thread of porting and polishing the heads I have found this on another site, http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/main/view/1113689/VG30DETT-Cylinder-Head-Porting-Observations.html I'm trying to find a did difinitive answer for my build and have not got any conclusive answers. Which is a shame! I'm planning on boring out to 87.5 mm with wiseco pistions, Open up water galleries, Replace all seals gaskets etc Acl race main and big end bearings Refurbish the heads (3 angle valve cut, currently undecided in port and polish hence this thread) Stock auto turbo rebuild to inc 360 deg bearings and step gap seals. 7. I don't expect everyone to know about my car but i've owned it 5 years, it had brembos, alunox exhaust, chipped and i was at 340BHP. Then about 2 years in i started uprating and putting it all on the shelf, turbos, radiator, clutch, injectors, smic, etc. Another year passed and i took it to Noel, i had 580BHP and 504BHP at the wheels, so of course happy but not with all the smoking it did !! 1 year on, so the summer of 2014, i powder coated this and that and generally making under the hood more pleasing on the eye. That brings me to where we are today, should be getting all this fit within the next 6 weeks and i'll no doubt receive pics and update as t…

  11. Started by Joely P,

Does anyone use one? Obviously the car has to be spotlessly clean and dry before installation but are they more trouble than they're worth? Potentially causing more scratches being a snug fit, would it be safer and more cost effective to just use a large piece of soft material and naturally drape it over the car? Or am I missing the point? I understand the issues associated with outdoor covers, wind and chaffing but I'm referring to indoor covers only. Regards, Joel.

Hi guys, My zed is currently on a transporter on its way from Japan, and I've got hold of a UK spec rear bumper so I can have a neat foglight setup. Only thing is the bumper has a few scratches and I'd like to get it resprayed ready for fitting, but I don't know the paint code. The car is a 96 model chassis number GCZ32 560854. Is it possible to decode the paint from that? Failing that hoe many shades of black were in use in 96? I realise there are lots of threads on this but a lot of the links no longer work so I appreciate any light you can shed. Thanks Chris

My car is making a ticking noise after been sitting up since its last trackday probably 8 weeks, i started it up this evening and noticed the noise i didnt drive the car just let it warm up on idle What would be my best bet to fix this? Fluss the engine and change the oil? Drive it and see if it frees them up? Is it doing damage?

  16. Hi guys n gals Well we got back from our two week break in La Carihuela (the nicest part of Torremolinos without doubt) Whilst sunning ourselves on the beach on Sat 20th we were disturbed by lots of honking and tooting of horns - then over 100 classic cars and exotica proceeded to drive all down the beach front promenade which is normally pedestrians only! This runs for miles all the way from Torremolinos to Benal Madena Marina About an hour later we heard the cars on the return leg driving down the pedestrian street one back from the promenade - where lots of bars and shops are Lot's of interesing sights to see - didn't get any pics myself but he…

  20. I was sent a set of headlights, chromed 99 spec inserts and switchback tube lights, my remit was left to me to fit. Having changed all the adjusters to metal as usual 50% were broken, i found a spot where i could attach some silica gel sachets :cool3:. You can see the exit point here where i came out with the 3 wires that run the tube light as you must keep away from any warm or hot areas, i did however put on a heat sheath for good measure. The inserts fit quite well, be prepared to do a little fiddling here and there though, i did all this on a tatty carcass until i was happy to fit on the supplied headlights. I also spent a lot of time thinking abo…
