Read somewhere on the forum (can't remeber where now) that it's better to have the overdrive OFF on an automatic around town, as it saves petrol by reducing gear changes. Is this true? I kinda thought the opposite.. Something i saw on the net (e-tyres.co.uk): "-- Use overdrive gears. Overdrive gears improve the fuel economy of your car during highway driving. Your car's engine speed decreases when you use overdrive. This reduces both fuel consumption and engine wear. Most automatic transmission cars will have an overdrive button right on the gearshift. Look for a "D" and/or "O/D". You will see a light on the dash indicating weather it's on or off. Check your own…

Hello all! Im having the horrible rear spoiler removed & the tailgate smoothed & resprayed! I know there is a skin that you can buy, but that gives a slight lip & I don't want that! I want it smoothed off, but others I have seen have a black strip across the back (above the rear lights).... Do I need to order this part & where can I get it from!? Do some of them house the rear brake light too!? Thanks in advance

as per the subject really, its an 04 m3 i was in and it felt really fast, faster than my zed, but the owner said it had 343bhp from the book so i am reading that as flywheel. My zed shouold be around that bhp to be honest so weight aside, why doesnt it feel as fast (talking really the acceleration not top speed...) Any ideas on what i can do cheaply to get it faster? (ive got a profec so going to be tweaking it to get the full boost quicker so more of a kick...) Or am i dreaming in hoping to get m3 type performance from a stage 1 / 2 zed?

Hi, I finally picked up a z after 3 years or so of thinking about it. drove it down to surrey from Edinburgh yesterday. 450miles no probs(pretty good fuel consumption too!). went for a drive today. Had half a tank of BP ultimate in it, and filled it up with optimax. about 15 miles later lost power for a second or so, then it conked out competeley about a mile or so later. Now when I try to strat it, almost catches, rumbles a bit then dies. No idiot lights or anything. Any ideas? things to check? have looked at connections etc under the bonnet, but all looks ok. Any advice would be much appreciated, because it's parked in a local car park at the moment! BTW,…

Hello! I would like to lower my Z, but do not know which Eibach coils I should order. My Z is -90 TT 2+2 Manual European model. Can anyone tell me which one will fit? The problem is that in U.S. 2+2 seater is always NA and TT is always coupe (2+0). Eibach info: 300ZX (Incl. Convertible & 2+2, Exc. Turbo) 90-96 PKK 6319.140 0.8 0.8 OR 300ZX, Turbo 90-96 PKK 6320.140 0.8 0.8 Thanks in advance! Matti

Im having trouble starting my Z. I originally thought it was a hot starting problem, but sometimes it happens when its cold. It turns for about 6 seconds then finally catches. On a hot start , when it does catch it idles at 2400, then drops slowly to 1000 or so. Any ideas??

gotta question about maximum revs, im pretty paranoid about revving the car too hard, what i mean is if im thrashing it i normally change up at 7000rpm, never after. my mates always saying u should push it all the way to 9000rpm, but im always a bit cautious. whats the truth does it actually do any damage/excess wear to the engine going into the redline? or what about hitting the limiter? as ive never wanted to try. need some advice so one of us can be right! cheers

Hi, I noticed that there is a little puff of smoke when I really floor it. The Tubs sound fine, and there is no problem with boost. I smelt the exhausts, one side smells fine but the drivers side smelt a little of sort of burning. What do you think, turbo on the way out or ring/rings. Or hopefully neither... Bart

For the last few days I've noticed that it was getting harder to change from neutral into 1st (crunching), and also from 5th to 4th (really crunching), and now tonight on the way back home whilst waiting at the traffic lights, went to put it in first and it went but much harder than previous times and when I let go of the clutch it nearly stalled on me, the clutch point was very low, so I got home no probs as I used 2nd and 3rd gear mainly, went to park up and nothing!!! no reverse, no 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th so I had to push it in parking bay :( Has anyone here experienced same symptoms and found the solution?
