General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi I am going to be refurbing my engine hopefully with the help of Jimmer :bow: . I will be getting forged pistons, 555 injectors, maybe the z1 intercoolers. I am looking for somewhere in the region of 450-500 bhp (flywheel). What turbos would you guys recommend? I’m looking for something not to laggy low down and 5 bolt fitment for downpipes will not be a problem. I have been told Garret gt675rs BB turbos are a good choice are they any others and what benefits would I get from the different makes/models of turbo? Thanks

Hi all, Wot is the highest boost i can run on stock internals? Ive always run @15 psi before can i push her anymore? My spec list so far is: Dta ecu chip apexi avc r boost controller nismo 555's twin air filters fmic hard pipe kit + samcos custom made decat exhaust stage 2 t25 garrett 360 roller bearing turbos 20 psi max koyo ali rad x2 dump valves regards dan

Hello, was wondering what light could be shed on my issue. When i put my foot down a bit, the power light on the dash comes on. this i know is normal. however, the power light does not go out even after cruising at steady and low revs for quite some time. the only way to get it to turn off is to flip the switch next to the gear leaver to power mode, then back to the center position. It used to work normally. cheers.

Ok, I'm almost at the point of having to make a decision on a clutch... not least cos I'm gonna have to get the money together for it! I've gone with Greddy 16g's (and a rebuilt engine etc etc) & am looking to be making 500+ bhp, with maybe the potential to go a bit further in the future... so, what clutches can people recommend?? Obviously RPS are the clutch of choice, will they handle the power/ torque?? Anyone got any experience of Carbonetics? OS Gikken also seem to have a good rep too.. Not got a budget in mind (as is apparent from the above!) but I want to get it right first time! The car's a play thing - trackdays and weekends only, so not TOO b…

Just wondering what use to make of this useless area on my dash? The 2 drawers are too small for a CD disc and the drink holder doesn't. Suggestions please - what have YOU done with yours? I suppose I am looking for pics or graphics of what's been done. I can think of a few things - just looking to see what's been done to best effect.

Hey, My left Pod which controls the fan and cabin temprature etc. isn't working but the wiper control on it is. The pod on the right works fine. It lights up but non of the buttons respond and it doesn't display any numbers in the lil display.

got my eye on the 13inch disc brake upgrade from z1 motorsports, seems quite decent and the pound is very strong at the minute has anybody else fitted this to their car?

Given Nissan cut costs on my 95tt by not putting the boost gauge on the dash clocks why would they bother with the following: Weird huh? I was certain that the sensors were located at the back of the engine bay by the brake fluid reservoir.

Hi Guys I have searched and searchedand looked at the workshop manual but cannot figure out where the time control unit is, this controls the interior light fade time when you close the door etc... Cheers Graham

Hi there..this is odd! Reset ECU and took the z for a drive ..All very good ;then, on a straight;very strange ...gave it some boost and suddenly the car is steering from the back and front just for a second I'm creeping sideways at 70mph!!...slowed down and stopped ,checked all wheels and tyres..headed off again and then again at 65mph did the same thing only this time on a corner!!Life of its own ...Any one with any ideas ..this car has never done this before ????? Well I think my gearbox has died (properly this time) I have done lots of searches and people talk about the car making more noise when changing up from 3rd but not going any fast. Mine simply wont change above 2nd (as if I have left it in 2). So I can do 60 MPH but it sits at just over 4000 revs. Is it time to book it in for a gearbox?

I've just bought a new Zed! It's a 1989 and in red, other than that I don't know any other details (2+2 or 2+0? Turbo or NA? etc) I liked it, so I bought it :D :D Well it goes with the collection.

Just a quick double check, I am right in thinking that the two pieces of hose go from the turbos up to the back of the engine and connect there, dont need the vac signle fro the egr as it being removed, which take off on the balance tube is the one i need to cap???

Thinking of changing my rear J spec rear bumper to a UK one but my rear skirt obviously wont fit and i don't seem to able to find a rear skirt for UK one :confused: Any ideas, are they available? and if so where from? Cheerz James

HI guys can you help? Just bought the black TT 93' UK manual from 'niceguyindahous' 2 weeks ago and took it out properly first time yesterday and its running real slow psi never gets above 0, its running reallly rich (exhaust stinks) and is just not the fast car i expected ;( any advice or know of any good garages in york/leeds/bradford area? Really gutted as i bought this for lge sum - unfortunately did not pick this up on the test drive I'm new to this car so any advice is welcome - seller claims it running at 400bhp yet its no faster than my Vectra GSI!!! :( :confused:

I haven’t seen one as bad that you can buy. A few individual parts that are horrid, but not a complete kit that transforms a good looking car into a horror story. I might be wrong, so If you know of something worse, please post it up so we can all puke, OUR SURVEY SAYS YES ok sorted it.
