Hi chaps, I've bought a replacement thermostat but it looks a little different in that it doesn't have the bottom bit. It's Manufacturer is Vernet; Will this be an issue? Thanks!

There seems to be lots of conflicting information surrounding this little sucker. So I thought I'd start this thread not only to get mine sussed but for others to have a nice clear explanation. Useful when converting to manual from auto. My current understanding and please correct me if I'm wrong, this is a discussion not a how to. On manual cars and autos, but for now let's out lie manuals there are two switches on the gear box. The reverse light switch and neutral position switch. The neutral switch makes and breaks the circuit from the ecu effecting base idle timing. When the engine is up to tempreture the following timing should be observed; In gea…

  4. Hey folks! been a long time since I haven´t showed up around here; been so busy with life matters... anyhow glad to be back and I wanted to ask a question to all of those experts on stereo new tech system; as many of you know I actually live and stationed in Spain; my Z radio is very simple barely has no quality at all, actually I think it´s the stock one still. I wanted to get a good stereo system but many people I spoke to always said Z32 and sterey system never got alone..lmao. Thing is I wouldn´t want to drill a single hole on my Z it is very nice and stunning and wish to keep it this way. Probably not even going to put a subwoffer just a good radio with new speakers …

Going on from my post about the poor quality of some or in fact a lot of used z parts been peddled on facebook and the like. Just seen these little gems, a couple of doors for the bargain price of £80 !! Not even wiped over with a camp cloth, rust at both mirror positions and crapped out rubber trims, I mean in real terms and the changes in cost of living that is more than I was selling perfect doors for 10+ years ago !! Hi Guys, I have a nice solid vibration at motorways speeds which seems to get worse from about 60mph upwards gradually getting worse the faster you go. The car has recently had a new single piece prop shaft fitted along with a new gearbox mount both have made no difference. There is no noticeable play in any of the wheels, the hicas joints and inner steering arms are also recent. The alloys and tyres are new with no balance issues. Despite all of this the vibration continues, it sounds like its coming from the NSR but very hard to tell. I'm wondering if I've got a knackered driveshaft/both or a knackered diff? My car was bought with racing seats, slammed coilover…

  7. Just briefly, i have factory blue glass all around in my 1994 Z. The front screen is a Pilkington 'copy', replaced under insurance several years ago, it's lovely and it's matching blue.......happy days. Both my door windows were scratched quite bad from when i purchased in 2009, so i replaced just these two with bronze but over time the mismatchiness gave me sleepless nights !! So i re fit the blue a month back and now this thread will be my attempts at restoring them, never attempted this before i might add. You can see below the scratches, felt with a finger nail so i knew these were classed as deep/bad, all done initially with window going up and down over 1…

Question, what is the most common collection of after market parts for the 300zx that owner`s struggle to either get good deals on, get quickly or find find it too much trouble to source? Would a zedpartscompare.com or zedpartsfinder.com be the answer maybe? Just asking.... Jeff

I needed the wee plastic bit for the door lock mechanism. Told they were like hens teeth but Luke from Zcentre said he had one that he'd throw in with the downpipes I had just ordered. As it was 1st April, I thought he was pulling my leg and bought 2 from Andy Puttnick. Downpipes arrived last weekend, no wee plastic bit, but this morning = you guessed it, my invoice and the wee plastic bit arrived in the post. So, Luke, I apologise for doubting you and if anyone on here needs the plastic bit for the drivers side or a metal version for the passenger side, let me know. No charge.

  11. On for very cheap at the moment. Sounds like maybe the heater matrix pipe has a leak in it, if no damage has been done to the engine from when it over heated could be a cheap fix to get back running. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300zx-twin-turbo-spares-or-repair/252346328394?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35391%26meid%3Ddfeac9df35a74c268a90e8abfd4c480c%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D272186913579

Were there any 'plain' UK spec clocks? Like the jap ones with just the MPH around it and not the kph on the inside? Like these? Or are they just amended jap clocks? The reason I ask is that my UK clocks look a lot fuller with the kph on aswell.

hi guys just got the zed out of storage ready for the summer and the idle is to high whilst warm (ticking over just over 1000 rpm) this fault is intermittent, but i have traced it to the the back end of the plenum, where the loom feeds in for the injectors/coil packs etc someone has been into the loom there before looking at the loose black tape around it, but when i move the loom the tickover speed drops to where it should be, then raises when i release it so guessing broken wire in there somewhere, which units on the plenum control the tickover speed?

I thought someone had bought this yet it's back up at no money The ad says £495 at the time of posting http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-NISSAN-300ZX-FAIRLADY-3-0-TWIN-TURBO-AUTOMATIC-IN-SILVER-SPARES-OR-REPAIR-/272186913579?hash=item3f5f9ab32b:g:-vUAAOSwZtJW9YQQ Anyone know what the story is?

  18. Hi all, just a quick one. I removed my steering yrs ago for an aftermarket one. Now comes the time to fit another one. The thing is, before when i fitted the other wheel i rewired a live to the horn because there was a live and earth connection. This time there is just one connection. Looking at it that must be a live and the spring on the button returns to earth. Problem is how can i get a wire through to the wheel without like last time having a long wire wrapped around the shaft to allow steering etc. Is there any solution. like a rotating ring etc cheers

  19. About a week ago I dropped a friend off in town and when I got to the dual carriageway I accelerated to about 50 and she literally died on me. A couple of splutters but that was it. I could smell the catalytic, bad sulphur burnt smell. Which eventually went away and she started again. I eased her the mile I had left and then took her out to test a day or two later. The same thing happened after 10 minutes of running. She cut out but this time no smell. I left her for about 15 minutes and she started again. Being that there wasn't much to look at this point. I changed the fuel filter. Took her out today and she ran well, full power as far as I could tell. She …

  21. I've searched and read a couple post about the benefits of mods. But my question is, on the company parts offered from. I've seen headers for $79 -$299 and pulleys for $75 and up! With the headers can I buy an OBX or a similar $75 set http://www.ebay.com/itm/Z32-3-0L-DOH...oAAOSw2s1UsZ8G http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-ST...sAAOSwr7ZW43fq And they look the same as I know many companies knock off the original design. I've read that they perform the same too. My hard pipes were supposed to be Injen (the previous owner had them and paid for Injen but they are clearly not) but they work and look nice. Xpipe $29 is to be magnaflow $120 but it wasn't so I boug…

After my shell swap my speedo doesn't work. The shell I swapped onto is a 1990. My running gear and engine loom are from a 95 n plate. Only the engine harness was replaced, all the other wiring is original. Bearing in mind the 95 model had electric hicas and the 1990 had hydraulic hicas. The hicas has now been removed. Can anyone tell me how I can check the speed sensor signal from the socket which goes into the back of the speedo. I have a multimeter to test. Any advice or help wold be greatly appreciated. The instrument cluster is from a UK spec car I used to have. The 1990 model was originally fitted with cruise control the 95 model wasn't.

Most of the winter work now complete but still have an issue with hicas warning light coming on. Did this for a wee while last year but was intermittent. Coming up for MOT and I know the tester won't fail it for this but I'd like to try and resolve the issue. Where's the best place to start? Checked FAQ's but couldn't see anything other than changing rods. Doesnt feel like any wear in them.
