Greetings gents.....have a question on my TT. anyone know what temp the ecu needs to see from the temp sensor before it will distribute the negative feed to open the boost solenoids? at 70 degrees (on diagnostic) I have no negative, checked a schematic and can see the negative joins both solenoids and a splices off to the ECU first stop is a continuity test in the morn unless one of you fine chaps tell me I need to see 80 degrees before the negative will be present........then il be looking at a dodgy temp sender or a thermostat sticking open. thanks in advance.

Hi all, I have a 1996 JDM TT Targa, it has become something of a restoration project now. The next step is to address any corrosion and a full respray. However I am torn between keeping the original pearl white, or going for a solid white. The solid white is definitely cheaper, easier to maintain and to me looks almost as good. Also I have been told it can be really difficult to match pearl white panels and get everything to blend in. I am also think of removing the late twin turbo spoiler and going for something more discrete or not have one at all. Your thoughts and any pictures would be really appreciated. Harry

Hi there, my off side headlight has developed some condensation on the inside lens! Can I remove the headlight glass without taking the headlight out? Which seems to be a PITA!! I am assuming the glass seal is broken, not sure why this has happened. Many thanks Arthur

Hey everyone. I registered for a session at this Spa-Asia event with my almost stock 31 years old TT for this Sunday, 09/18... Anyone else coming? I guess not but, asking anyway. ? I'm going there solo for now, not with a club or anything, and haven't seen any other 300ZX competing in the listing so i'll be amongst fine-tuned Supra's, Skyline's and stuff like that (huho). I know i stand no chance but i am doing it for fun, and this is an unique opportunity to ride on this legendary track... Oh, and i have no experience whatsoever. I was just born in a paddock on a pile of tires and have fuel running thru my veins. Two of my stepfathers were professional pilots so i k…

Hi all, so I have been chasing a problem for which seems like a long time now and starting to pull my hair out. car is a 1992 tt manual i have changed plugs, done compression test, rear main seal, all boost leaks sorted, cleaned all electrical connections, checked all coil packs, checked tps, cas, idle control. basically car runs fine but idles high like over 1300 rpm and I have no adjustment to lower the idle on idle control valve as it’s maxed out. car is smooth running but seems underpowered, boost is showing on guage and fine but there is. NO urgency when boosting drives like an n/a. once warmed up and b…

Hi all. So I’m now in the position that i need to replace my turbos as the seals have failed. I can’t afford a garage to do it, so I’m going to have ago myself. Has anyone done this themselves and can offer advice? Im planning on getting a second set of turbos and taking them to midland turbo to get rebuilt so they’re ready to go when I start. Any info appreciated! cheers

Hi all, Another year has flown by, so before it's too late, we have to choose our exhibitors for this year's show.... Classic Motor Show | NEC Birmingham (necclassicmotorshow.com) It's a full-on event; you will have to be there on Thursday 10th November (at a specific time allocated by the NEC) to place your car on the stand - and you will not be able to drive away again until late evening on Sunday 13th November. You may, of course, drop your car off on Thursday and then return to collect it on Sunday - subject to leaving the keys with one of us who will be there for the duration. However it would be preferable if you could also stay and man the stan…

Hi folks, I have just replaced the red "Z" badge on the front of my Zed, so if anyone wants the old one, you're welcome to it. It has a stone-chip (hence why I bought a new one) and it came apart from the metal ring during removal. You'll need to glue it back together and source some adhesive backing to reinstall it (make sure you do it the right way round, the little "studs" are handed (one side it bigger than the other), to match the holes in your nose panel..... ?

Hi all, My car has discovered a starting issue on cold and warm but only struggles on warm after I leave it for over half an hour.... very strange one The car starts every time it's never not started just takes a bit to get going but it's like a spluttering start for about 5 seconds idle drops right down when it gets going but then it's fine , idles fine everything once it's found its bearings.... Some mornings it's starts first go after its left over 2 days but let's say I leave it overnight and try it in the morning it does it. So strange. I've changed the PTU to series 2, no joy and also changed the FP regulator still no joy, checked fuel pressure t…

Hi all. So I’ve had my fair share of jap cars but always wanted a z32 TT. I managed to pick one up a few months back but has now started smoking. the smoke only starts after the car has warmed up. Then it smokes on tick over and under throttle. The smoke only comes out of the driver side exhaust. The previous owner had ran it for a short time on 5w30 fully. so I changed it to 10w40 part. I’ve also removed and check PCV valves, but they seem to be doing their job. I’ve got a compression test booked in for next week, but I was wandering if anyone else could suggest anything? the smoke is a mix of white, grey and blue! So confusing as hell. Any hell would b…

A work mate of mine has seen a nice blue SWB parked in the Hayes/Uxbridge area a couple of times whilst visiting his gym in the last few days.... Reg number is L688MEP and from the pics he showed me, it looks like an NA. Is it anyone on here? I'll give him a club flyer to pop under the wipers next time he sees it ?

Hi, after 4 and a half years my bosch 069 has completely died just outside of warranty. Its been pretty useless since I bought it even with a battery cutoff. I don't know if it makes a difference but the car is a japanese import. At the time there was a more expensive 334 model but at the time I couldn't find any information of people fitting it in the 300zx. Now ive realised that it has a capacity of 830cca vs the 069 capacity of 630cca. There appear to be 3 brands to choose from and I cant find a definitive answer on which brand to go with. There is Yuasa https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/yuasa-battery-44477334Z, Varta https://www.eurocarparts.com/…

Thought I would post as couldn't find anything about this anywhere online so might save somebody some time. After doing head gaskets and timing belt car would not start, could not get the timing mark anywhere near, actually sparking on no3 cylinder, about 90' out on cam. Turned out to be ptu connector on the wrong way. The outer connector casing had got twisted so it looked right and the connector a bit loose with age so it slid over the 2 and 3 notches. Easy fix in the end just wish I'd found it before removing manifold and valve cover again and buying replacement cas.

My Z's tachometer has always read high when compared to either Conzult or more recently also my Racelogic, which taps into the tach line from the ECU. For example, at warm idle my tach reports a smidge over 1k, while the Racelogic/ECU reports 850. This continues all the way through the rev range. I just wondered if anyone else has found theirs is the same or better yet if there may be a fix for this?

Fortunately my new Z seems to be in good condition in respect of rust and I'd like to try and keep it that way. I had dinitrol applied to my previous Z and though it may be good at rust protection it's terribly messy stuff, especially for any future work on the car. My socials must be listening into my thoughts again as I'm getting spammed with ads for a 'new' product called Lanoguard. There seems to be a huge amount of positive support for the product on the social platforms, they have decent videos on YT and their site looks professional enough. It's supposedly very simple to apply, must be done at least annually and requires no masking off. It seems a bit too good…

Good morning everyone, I have been asked a few times recently as to whether we are holding an AGM this year - and apologise that we have been a bit tardy in organising something for 2022. So, given that we are now in the middle of the holiday season, it's probably best to look at late-September/early October if we are going to hold an event this year. The main holiday season is over, the weather is still usually kind, so it is one last chance to get out with our cars before winter.... I have spoken with the British Motor Museum, as they did a great job for our 2019 event - and they have availability for Sunday October 2nd. British Motor Museum | Home …
