General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi I have a 300zx turbo 1990. It has started having problems automatically changing gear. Have to take foot off accelerator a bit for it to change.topped up the gearbox fluid but no different. wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be?

How technical are you experts in the house??? I am thinking of running two downpies from my Turbos into a single pipe and then running that along through the car to exit at the rear. I am wondering how it would effect the Turbos, if at all, with one down pipe being much longer than the other and going over the bellhousing and meeting the second down pipe on the other side. Can anyone see any issues with back pressures from the Turbos if these pipes meet closer to one Turbo than the other?? That is, would the higher pressure from the shorted length pipe blow back up into the longer pipe?? Does that make sense at all ??? Cheers dave...

ive owned my black zed 4 3 months now and have countless people saying it looks like (kit) out of nightrider....does any1 with black z32s have this said about there cars............::shock:

Can someone tell me where I can find an AP Flug front bumper, if anyone has one for sale or what site to use for order? I've looked all over the internet without success and doesn't seem many people know they exist for the 300zx. Example

My steering wheel is off centre when driving straight. The car doesn't pull to the left or right, so is it just a case of taking the steering wheel off and recentering it?

I was unsure if my speedo had been properly converted to mph as the mileage is counting up in K's. So I used my tom tom to measure the speed, and to my complete surprise the speedo was reading exactly the same as my sat nav :shock:. In total I drove around 80miles and the speedo was correct all the way. I've never had a car that's had such an accurate speedo! From my experience they're normally around 5% - 10% out. From all the talk of inaccurate oem dials on the site I thought I'd post up some good news. lol..

Was watching re-runs of The Garage on sky and the narrator said that 90's automatic gearboxes were really bad on fuel compared to the manual version. He was talking about a golf but I was wondering if the zed suffers from this as well?

I'm currently in the manchester area and was wondering if there is anyone i could take my zed to to get the front bushes looked at as there is horrific juddering when braking.... i've replaced discs and pads all round so brakes are ruled out so got to be bushes i guess? Any help greatly appreciated. :bow:

My heater for the windscreen works fine but every other vent never seems to work regardless of switch settings.. any ideas?

Has anybody actually got one of these cars that actually works? Secondly if you think your answer to that is yes, I'll bet you 50 grand it wasnt for more than 5 days solid... Sick to the back teeth of these cars!! Im selling it and going back to Toyota UNLESS there is a way to bypas every last bast**d sensor on the car .....

Just a little advice to those (like me) who may have overlooked their's for a while....... ..........Especially as my ZX sits in my garage most of the time nowadays. When it was my daily drive I checked them weekly and, boringly, they never changed. However as I'm taking it to Cornwall tomorrow, I decided to do all the usual checks this morning. I found the tyres were around 5-10 psi below what they should have been so obviously I pumped them up. And what a transformation!! the car grips, corners and brakes soooooo much better than before:bow: Amazing what a change something so simple can make! Richard:cool:

any ideas, my throttle only opens so far and then hits a stop? But it's a solid metal stop onthe housing where the cable meets, it seems to stop the butterflys opening? Is this some kind of restriction as my mates car is here and his has a bolt in that can be adjusted ???

Just before christmas my beloved Zed decided to give me a lovely present of needing a new gear box. Its a 1994 uk Auto tt; have been quoted £2000 to rebuild the Auto box complete with oil cooler and hoses etc But as I am not planning on getting rid of her any time soon, am thinking manual conversion is the safest and best option. What are the pros and cons of coverting her?

ive still got this pain in the ars* problem with my headlights, and im thinking if i dont get it sorted in the next month or so im gonna just get rid of the dam thing and go back to an RS turbo which is a lot easier and cheaper to work on, and probably quicker too!:mad:

Posted on here over a week ago with info about my Auto Box potential failure. Now I have more time, I will post more specifics. OK. Forgetting how the car was this is what happens now. In Position 1, the car will not creep forward, and pressing the accelerator also has no effect, the revs just continue to go up, no movement. In Position 2, the car creeps forward as it should, but I suspect it pulls off in 2nd Gear as the speed pickup isnt great. In Position D, the car creeps forward as in Position 2. I suspect (but am not sure) that it changes into 3rd but basically when travelling at 40MPH the revs are roughly at 2700RPM (an experts tell me what gear …

Morning all! The time has come for me to replace my o2 Sensors on my TT but from everywhere i've looked they seems rather expensive! I can find plenty of universal 3 wire ones so just wondering if they will do the same job... The only confusion i've got is the type, some are listed as "Titania” or "Zircona" or even “Planar” :confused: Which type does the 300zx tt use or if anyone knows the best and cheapest place to buy genuine 300zx ones that would be much appriciated! Have also seen some ones on ebay that say they will fit the 300ZX and Infiniti as well? Thanks all for any help!

I have some slight parking damage to the rear quarter panel ( just behind passenger door) slight crease in bodywork where something ran in to me at slow speed. Wondering whether to have it repaired ( not had a quote yet) or take the opportunity to fit wide arches both sides. Any thoughts on this re looks/costs etc. I run a TT Black import 1990 which is standard other than the wheels and is very tidy.

Hey all I had leather seats down as a Christmas project and have just finished. I thought I'd post up some pics. They are electric leather S2 seats which have been made of the good bits of a number of seats. I took all the covers off and salvaged all the best cushions, bolsters, motors, looms, bump stops, (by the way Ive got a box full of motors and clips and trims if anyone needs some) remedied any rust and generally gave everything some lube and a once over. I also fitted heating elements to the front seats. So I now have leather electric and heated on both sides (there goes 30BHP!!) I'm pretty chuffed with the results as its taken me nearly every e…
