Guess who has broken down again miles away from home. This time i was going around a corner and the car started by all means bunny hopping before completely losing all power and dying. I tried starting the car and it refused. So i went and played with a few connectors and it started again and i drove it to my friends house. Came back out later and it fires up fine then just completely dies. Then i cant get it started at all. In the end i left the car at my friends house and i got a lift home.. I am nearing the end of this car more and more.. Old zed has very kindly offered to come around tomorrow and try another CAS on my car to see if its that playing up.…

Driving along a dual carriage today, my three kids were also in the zed. When along side me pulls an astra vxrish type summit or other. I didn't pay it any attention until I hear it's engine scream into life and it's exhaust growl and boom as it crawled away from me at a snails pace. I looked at it to see a bloke in the passenger seat holding up his camera fone recording it. I wasn't racing - anyway I had my kids with me, I was just cruising at 55mph, but what are the odds there will be a new vid on youtube today with "my mega 800bhp astra demolishes supercar" chavtastic!:headvswal:headvswal

Why do both pipes run from the engine the same way but the rad take offs are at different sides? Or am I completely lost here?? Cheers...

A problem has started with my windscreen wipers over the past couple of weeks. They won't turn off no matter what postion the switch is in. I have read this can be caused by the switch within the motor mechanism that detects the rest postion becoming dislodged. However i'm not sure this applies to mine as the intermittent swith postion no longer works intermittently. It is parked outside and i'm wondering if damp may be causing it? This is what happens in the various switch postions: Switch postion - Wipers Off - Low Speed Intermittent - Low Speed Low Speed - Low Speed High Speed - High Speed Anybody had this problem? I can only stop them by…

When I start the car and then move it into Drive, The car pulls/creeps as normal, then I drive it for about 300 meters or so, then it just revs as if it is in neutral, then I have lost all drive. I tried it in 2nd and 1st and it still would just Rev. Reverse worked a little, then done the same. I turned off the ignition, then waited about 5 minutes, started it up, and it worked again, then got like 200meters or whatever.. and done the same again. I don't think the temperature has anything to do with it, i'm not sure if it's electrical... But any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Any Ideas people? Cheers

My car has 110k up it now, running 15psi, mines ecu and decat exhaust. 18 months on the clutch is begining to slip. Should I replace it with a stock clutch or have an Exedy one? By having the Exedy one will it cause more stress on things like the hydraulic clutch fluid and its joints etc? Thanks guys, Dan

A Few weeks ago i replaced the standard rad with an alloy AMS one, converted the fan to electric and had the water pipes chromed :). Being so busy i've been spending an hour here and there to get it finished whenever i had time. Today i thought i would tidy the garage and found this in a cardboard box on a shelf. Where do you think it goes :headvswal:headvswal:smash:

Well i got to say this new driftworks hicas bypass kit has to be one of the BEST ways to remove the hicas: not only does it remove the rack but it also replaces the skinny track arms with BIG solid rods and rose joints, what im most happy about is having those old worn out leaky ball joints removed and replaced with nice solid poly bushes which can easily be serviced with new ones. They were easily pressed out in a proper press of course :D thanks to my mate who works for porsche in hatfield....:bow: Now this is what ya call a workshop: One of the driveshafts was siezed so that was also pressed out rather than mucking about with a puller/hammer e…

Right result, the zed was due its MOT. Dropped it off expecting horror stories about usual UK problems, rust etc. Guess what? it passed FIRST TIME time, only thing that was wrong was a new front indicator bulb and the emissions were a bit high, but they sorted it. Not bad for a 94 UK TT with 120k on the clock that i bought for a bargain of £1500 a year ago, and have spent less than £150 on parts to repair. Its had a few probs, but all sorted quite easily and given me loads more knowledge on them. See UK Spec zeds arent all that bad. Plus if they are manual and black, all the better.:tongue: Stu

  19. How technical are you experts in the house??? I am thinking of running two downpies from my Turbos into a single pipe and then running that along through the car to exit at the rear. I am wondering how it would effect the Turbos, if at all, with one down pipe being much longer than the other and going over the bellhousing and meeting the second down pipe on the other side. Can anyone see any issues with back pressures from the Turbos if these pipes meet closer to one Turbo than the other?? That is, would the higher pressure from the shorted length pipe blow back up into the longer pipe?? Does that make sense at all ??? Cheers dave...

My steering wheel is off centre when driving straight. The car doesn't pull to the left or right, so is it just a case of taking the steering wheel off and recentering it?

I was unsure if my speedo had been properly converted to mph as the mileage is counting up in K's. So I used my tom tom to measure the speed, and to my complete surprise the speedo was reading exactly the same as my sat nav . In total I drove around 80miles and the speedo was correct all the way. I've never had a car that's had such an accurate speedo! From my experience they're normally around 5% - 10% out. From all the talk of inaccurate oem dials on the site I thought I'd post up some good news. lol..

Was watching re-runs of The Garage on sky and the narrator said that 90's automatic gearboxes were really bad on fuel compared to the manual version. He was talking about a golf but I was wondering if the zed suffers from this as well?
