My (oem) boost gauge is playing up  When I switch the car on the gauge goes up to one notch above 0. But when I start and drive the car the gauge doesn't move at all . Switch off and it returns to -14. The turbos seem to be working and boosting as normal. I had a local auto electrics firm remove my old alarm yesterday and the gauge was working fine when I took it to them. Could they have just knocked a wire or connector off? The car's going back to them tomorrow for investigation. Does it sound like a broken connection? I'm hoping so 'cos at the moment it's one thing after another :headvswal Cheers for any advice as usual. Dave

I have a 300 tt and it looks like the engine has a water leak into the cylinders. Also just noticed a clattering noise from the bottom front sounds like a starter motor in mesh, the tappets have suddenly gone noisy , so I was wondering what options are open. second point, the lack of good mechanics in the North to do work on the car. Any ideas most welcome. Cheers.

After the Zed was stolen yesterday and i had the news that the only reason the car was dumped was the wheel came off... I spoke to a few friends in the engineering industry and have got the same answer from all...... ***WARNING*** If you have had you car sitting for a period of time over this cold snap we have been having latlely check your wheel nuts... with the cold (down to -11) the wheel nuts will contract in size and when heat gets back into them as the temp rises they will return to nomal size and losen them selves off........ ***WARNING*** so if any fellow have had the zed sitting there for a week or so please please please check the wheel…

Hi all. Long story short i was looking for my radio fuse on the 300 the other day and i took the wooden panel off the floor of the poassenger side to reveal the ecu. i noticed that there is a big project M sticker on my ecu. Does this mean my 300zx has a modified ecu or that it has been chipped? or does it mean that i need it remapping to get extra power? Has anyone heard of this? il try and get a photo of the sticker. cheers, Steve

It's funny but I haven't owned a Z for about three years now (the 350Z doesn't count as on reflection it wasn't as nice hence sold a couple of months ago) and I still come on here to see what's for sale etc. I notice some BBS LM's up for grabs which makes me wonder if I should have GIVEN a set away last year ?!?! Any chance of a pic of them if they've been refurb'd Mark ? I also noticed that a front strut advertised on ebay has pictures of one in my old engine bay !!! That's when I REALLY wish I'd kept the car........... So I think I'm gonna have to buy one sooner rather than later before I go mad or my wife leaves me cos I'm constantly looking at Z's rath…

The other day I was waiting outside my local Tesco Extra supermarket for my girlfriend. The Z was gleaming and it was just going dark so the lights were on. It must of looked pretty good as nearly everyone that came oout of the supermarket was staring at it. After about 10 minutes of waiting, in my rear view mirror approaching was a brand new Silver Audi R8 with its immensly bright daytime running lights on, it krept past me as he looked for a parking space. I had a quick look around and not one person, not even just one looked at it. Yet moments before people were turning their heads to look around the Z... Why was this? Is it because people pu…

Does anybody have any photos of the three gauge pod fixed above the centre console like the one in this link? http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_43_69&products_id=342 I'm weighing up whether to mutilate my dash and install those, or install pillar pods which aren't as aesthetically pleasing (to me anyway)

Hi everyone :) HELP PLEASE Ive got a drama with my starter motor mounting and wanted to see if anyone had any advice or has had the same fault. The thread for the lower starter motor has been ripped out of the g/box and due to this not being strong the actual starter motor mounting face has sheared at the top leaving the other mounting nut in place. Its a pretty big drama and ive already got a new starter motor on the way but need to look at sorting the thread on the gearbox so that the mounting stud will go back in secure. There is a few ideas i have had as i am a mechanic myself just wanted opinons from people. I can either retap the hole to accept a…

I had a call from Leslie, Colin's (Dick300) wife tonight with the sad news that he passed away at the weekend. He had been battling a mystery illness which had affected most of his vital organs and had spent months in hospital, just before Christmas he had gained enough strength to be fitted with a pacemaker which was hoped would help, but this unfortunately was not to be. I realise many of the members on here won't know Colin, he has been a member for many years but although he didnt post on here much recently, he did visit the site often and was one of the regulars at the Scottish meetings. Most the Scottish contingent that have attended meetings over the…

I've just had my engine out over xmas and fitted new turbos as passenger side was blown. Anyway, i've got it all back in now and running fine, but when i had the car on idle while i was sorting a few little bits out the temp started to creep above midway where it would normally sit. I tried putting the heating on inside aswell and its freezing cold! Is it just something simple like an airlock and just needs bleeding or could it be something more? Im hoping its simple as it was always fine before i pulled the engine! any help appreciated, thanks

Not been around these parts in such a long time that I had to re-register. Chunk still on here? Got some bits off him years ago. Advice too. Just bought a Z today.J reg, turbo, import. Can I run these problems past you guys? Car has poor power. Feels about half the power it should have.My first thoughts are related to plugs and coil packs. How do you test coil packs? Idles rough as well, constant revs, about 900rpm, but not smooth. Seems to put out more fumes from right exhaust than the left. Twitchy rear. Go over a bump and the rear kicks out to the left a bit. Not good. I know these are vague symptoms, but any advice greatly appreciated. …
