smoke from engine bay
yep..looks white to me ..but then once you open the bonnet you can only see it´s smoking as the smoke rises to the halogen lamp....when the bonnet is closed what comes out looks white...not blue ...i´ll do a better inspection of it when it happens again. sure thing, if and when I find the cause I´ll post it up Maz

smoke from engine bay
ok, just checked the water level now that the engine has cooled down and I´d say I haven´t lost a single drop of water, looks perfect to me.

petrol smell
remove the throttle body cover and look down between where the accelerator cables end...you´ll see two small fuel pipes, check the clamps on them mate :)

smoke from engine bay
I don´t believe it has Mikey, but I will double check as soon as the engine has cooled down. cheers

smoke from engine bay
Not that easy though Paul as the "instructions" were for a 92 model which seems to differ from the 90 model on where the pipes are etc. But I will check over it as best I can . something I forgot to mention; left the engine runing , popped the bonnet, no smoke...switched the engine off and smoke starts to rise , no sound, no real smell and it dissapears after 30 secs - 1 min. car runs perfectly though

smoke from engine bay
there´s an idea, I´ll check for that ...cheers guys :) I just thought, the carbon canister was in that area too ..you don´t think it could have something to do with the removal of the canister and maybe not capping the correct pipes or something ?

smoke from engine bay
something had to happen as she´s been running great , especially after the carbon canister removal. Now it´s a smoke issue. When I pulled up yesterday I noticed white smoke coming from between the left fender and the bonnet. Thing is though I can´t tell where it is coming from  when I open the bonnet I can see the smoke rising up as I have a halogen lamp mounted on the ceiling right above the engine bay but I can´t see it actually coming from the engine or anywhere around there. The smoke is white and doesn´t really smell of anything as far as I can tell, and it appears to start smoking once I turn the engine off :( any pointers would be greatly appreciated Maz

Apexi Filter
well, there you go, I knew an "expert" would be around sooner or later
-
Apexi Filter
if it´s anything like a K&N cone filter you can get a special cleaning kit including oil to spay on afterwards as the K&N doesn´t filter correctly without the oil. But I´m sure some apexi "expert" will be around soon .

Car cut out on me when the clutch was pressed.
I´ve had all sorts of problems with the temp sensor mate and that sure wasn´t one of them ..my guess is the idle control valve as you call it, probably needs cleaning and the idle was turned down using the idle screw to compensate meaning from time to time the revs drop below 500 and cut out.

confussing Carbon canister -help-
okay, not to worry. Just test drove the car after removing the carbon canister and capping the pipes recommended and she drives sweet. And for the first time in about 3 years when you open the petrol cap air gets sucked in as oppsed to blown out :) sorted, and well happy. :)

confussing Carbon canister -help-
So...has no one done a carbon canister removal/bypass on an 89-91 Z as I´m guessing that´s why the "gallery" of pipes etc mention in the write up are missing.

Wont Start First Thing?
try the water temp sensor that leads to the ECU, and don´t trust an ECU diagnostic to reveal the error..measure the resistance between the connectors on the sensor...mine did the same thing and that was the last thing I thought it could be.

Fitting air ducts
make sure you fit them on straight though.......put the left one on at a slight angle but it´s stuck solid :headvswal, so....next time the front facia is off i´ll have to cut it out from the back and refit it again ..bummer what stsrted out as an easy job..............

confussing Carbon canister -help-
the carbon canister is out, didn´t have the small hose on the fender that needed blocking off according to the write up, but it also mentioned that some peopple had written in to say they didn´t have it either, so that´s cool. rerouted the feul tank breather pipe and then went to the engine bay. took the two right hand side intercooler pipes off, capped the small pipe on the throttle body and also the one that goes to the balance bar, as "instructed" The problem is the write up says after removing the IC pipes "Now look down toward the front of the car, just outside of where the large IC hose ran from the turbo down to the IC. Find the metal vacuum galley as shown" I definitely do not have said "vacuum gallary" then "Next trace back to where the vacuum lines are connected under the hood. The top line went underneath the driver side throttle body (TB), " Not on mine it didn´t, the pipe connected to the throttle body went strait to the front of the car and dissapeared down the front somewhere. can I ignore all that and have I capped off the right stuff. any help greatly appreciated , as always :) Maz

Fitting air ducts
cheers for the advice guys ...got the sikoflex and I´m ready to go with the ducts. :)

Fitting air ducts
I´m just in the process of doing a carbon canister bypass , so front fender is off and I thought I´d take the opportunity to replace the fog lights with the carbon fibre air ducts I´ve had lying around for a few years:dance:. Two questions though: 1: For those that have done the air duct thing , which bonding agent do you recommend ? 2: Did you lead a tube/pipe from the ducts to the intercoolers, or just installed them as is ? Cheers :) Maz

doors open light
you can´t really miss it...on mine its like between the fuse box and the tower strut or whatever you call the thing where the shock absorber bolts into from the top..has a rubber grommet thing over it ...mines a left hand drive though.

elecrtic wires on seatbelts, needed?
wild guess....are they the ones that connect to the dash light that lights up red when you haven´t put your belt on ..or is that light totally random, haven´t figured that one out yet as the light goes off if I put the belt on before starting the engine , but stays on a while if I buckle up after i,ve driven a few meters.
