Turbo lag
:) yeah..been driving the car almost 6 years mate so I should know how they "kick in" ..on my car that is ..i´m sure I was imagining things..like when you start to get used to the power the car has and then think it´s getting slower. cheers for the input though, appreciate it. Maz

Turbo lag
did the oil filter a few weeks back mate ..i.e cleaned it up and reoiled it ( K&N drop in ) Car drove fine today though so I´m thinking it was probably one of those paranoid moments where you think something isn´t working right because nothing has gone wrong in a while..if that makes any sense. :)

Turbo lag
yes mate, totally stock /standard set up

Turbo lag
okay, let me try and explain what I mean. normally when you put your foot down the boost gauge needle shoots up pretty quickly and you can feel the turbos pushing you. Now when I put my foot down the needle seems to go up more gradually ...kind of slowly in comparrison...seems to reach full boost..just feels like it´s reaching it slower than normal does that make more sense :)

car wont idle
mine kept cutting out on start up too ...it was a faulty temp sensor, the one that goes to the ECU ...had to measure the resistance between the connections though to find it was faulty though.

Turbo lag
Noticed today that my turbos are slow to react. I´m not in safety mode and the turbos appear to be giving full boost, or maybe a little under perfect but not quite safety boost. Is this the sign of a vacuum leak ? Cheers Maz

Question for Grey Z owners
Hey Guys I´m guessing the owners of grey Z´s are more likely to know the answer to this one: The scuttle panel , i think it´s called ,,the plastic cover on the outside, below the winshield with vents...is it grey in colour , like the plastic where the side mirrors mount on or are they always black and mine have faded so much ? cheers Maz

odd idle
when I take my foot off the accelerator to stop, i.e at a junction or traffic lights the idle speed first stops at around 1500 rpm and then slowly falls to around 700 rpm. Anyone got any idea why it doesn´t fall directly to the set idle speed of 700 ? any input as always greatly appreciated :) Maz

stillen side mounts
someboby will be along to tell me I´m wrong....but I thought the Stillen smic were a direct swap for the originals as far as fitting them goes.

Why.
I reckon the previous owner did the fuse checking thing ( easiest job) couldn´t solve the problem and as a last resort just pulled the connectors. fuse probably kept blowing everytime the reverse lights were engaged..if so could be a short in power cable somewhere between the lights and the reverse switch. why else pull the connectors ? Maz

what is your opinion on this?
that´s confussing..or is it just me ? A: You rev while stood , lets say to 3000 rpm, then the car revs it higher than that on it´s own and then drops to idle B: you rev while stood...there´s a pause and then the car goes up to 3000 rpm after you´ve taken your foot off the accelerator and then drops to idle C: you rev while stood again to 3000 rpm..take foot off accelerator and it drops slightly but before hitting idle speeds goes up again ? or "none" of the above ?

strange light problem, need help!
I think you´ll find the voltage as such should always be the same ..12.4 sounds good ..the brightness etc would be regulated by the bulb wattage or resistors, but you should be reading the 12.4 volt at both connectors...check the wiring to the bulb , i had the same problem a while back and if I remember correctly it was a bad connection to the relay.

FAO Petes21st
Hey Pete Sorry I didn´t post this earlier but I was busy moving house. Just wanted to tell you that you were spot on the whole time mate, with my starting issues...you kept saying " I´m sure it´s the temp sensor " and it was. The auxillary fan did not come on until I pulled the connector so I thought the sensor was fine, but measuring the resistance between the sensor poles told a completely different story. The sensor was telling the ECU that the engine temp was fluctuating and at times overheating so it overfueled causing the starting issue. Thanks to everyone else for their input too, I really appreciated it :) cheers Pete, all sorted now Maz
