What did you do to your zed today?
I never knew that about the fuel light. I expected there to be a separate light for the low fuel, like an amber light that comes on next to the fuel symbol. Well ya learn something new every day huh!

The fuel light is always on.. It's not the low fuel light it's the symbol to tell you what the dial represents lol. Although I've never seen the fuel light lit so don't even know if it works!? I never let it run low enough to find out.. When you posted up about the bulbs I just went to that link and bought them. The pods have 4.2mm bulbs in them and the ones I bought were the 3.5 neo but i somehow managed to wedge them in to work? Got the correct size on order now but lots of spares.. So bedzee, if you want your pods lit up then I have enough of the original bulbs here to do it for you mate. I'm guessing groover, the wiper one is the same as the hazard where it's soldered in to the circuit board inside the wiper switch itself? My wiper switch doesn't light at all and never has since I bought the car.

Bizarre is a little out there I think? I like to think of them as different... I've asked many opinions of them and mostly I've been told they make the car stand out from the rest in a good way. One day when the paintwork is tired I might have them off when she's resprayed, although that'll probably be a long time from now..

The scoops are just stick ons. They were on the car when I bought it and I left them there as they're different.. I had thought about having a new set put on and make them functional but it wouldn't be worth cutting the bonnet.. I must add though, they're nowhere near the fuse box..

OK, been a busy zedder today! Got up after 5 hours sleep and started on nostrils.. I stripped the dashboard out and fitted the L.E.D upgraded bulbs to the dash. I decided after that to have a check in the boot to make sure the boot was dry and everything was in order. I was very happy with what I found in there! Even found a japanese cricket type bug that had obviously found its way in there before she was imported! It was dead of course! I don't know what it is, but i know it isn't British! I cleaned the interior including the boot. Then washed her, gave her a Maguires gold pre wax Polish, then a good coat of Maguires gold class carnauba wax.. She looks a treat..

Nah your ok mate, I don't like to go with crowd. I like to stay unique. I found so many people compliment me on the way my car looks because of the fact it's different to any other.. So nostrils will keep her nostrils, her venom lights, her flug front end and shortly the veilside rear end. I'm probably going carbon across the full rear panel. It's the way I like her and it keeps my car standing apart from the crowd.. Most Z's I see now have 99 spec lights and personally they don't do it for me.

Just came out of the shed after an attempt to carbon wrap one of the venom lights. Just want to physically see one to make my mind up wether to go carbon or stay black gloss. Here's the result, a few small crinkles but good enough to get an idea. Opinions welcomed..

Fortunately no solder required.. Couple of band aids for theplastic cuts on my fingers.. It's a shame the japs didn't include about an inch more wire on the pod plugs cos they are seriously a pita to get off!

Received the new dash leds today, so decided to have a go at fitting.. Managed to do the right pod, started on the left only to find that the bulbs in the heater control pod are bigger than the right pod? Even the ones in the right pod seemed to be slightly larger than those I bought but hey, I soldiered on. Started scratching my head when I went to remove the dashboard section, so decided it best to wait until I know what I'm doing.. Here's what I managed to change today though...

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
One of the biggest problems with this form of communication is no emotional content.. Things said in innocent conversation get taken the wrong way because there's no way to distinguish the way it was meant. We're all friends here, we all have the same basic things in common and they are that we all love the Z and we're all from backgrounds born without a silver spoon in the mouth.. I am probably more to blame here than any cos it was me that started getting arsey about my car not being considered as it's not mint enough.. I understand the club wants to exhibit the best examples in our club, I dont like to hear it because I love my Z and given time and somewhere to work, I know o could make the car mint, however I have to accept that it's far from the best in the club.. Dan, I love your car... Fancy a swap Mate? Lol... Let's all kiss and make up now, you can all blame me for being touchy..

Got excited when the postman knocked on the door! He only had a package for the wife :mad2: Hopefully tomorrow my new leds for the dash and pods will arrive.. Anyway, to stop myself feeling sad, I went and ordered these bad boys for the doors as my original right door speaker is intermittently coming on and off! Got these in gold :walkman:

Dashboard and console lighting.. Replacement bulbs?
Just out of interest groover, is it possible to replace the ones in the switches? ie mirror control, Windows etc? Haven't looked at the switches but I'm thinking they'll probably be sealed units? When I was looking at Andys (phutumsch) car at the JAE, all of his door switches are lit and he advised me that mine should be I too if I remember correctly. I've never seen mine lit so can I replace the bulbs or am I looking to change the switches?

How do I courier car parts?
Greg, try cheetah couriers based in Hemel Hempstead. I don't have their number to hand but they're listed online. They have couriers all over the country and as far as I know will collect. I may be able to get it done cheaper for you as I know the people who run the company.. Alternatively, working for a freight network I'm sure palletforce will do it bit not sure on the cost.

Dashboard and console lighting.. Replacement bulbs?
Hi all, just wanted to ask you all if you know which bulbs to buy for the dash back lighting and switches etc.. Took a look inside one of my dash pods today and the plastic backing on the bulbs is completely flat? Most replacement bulbs I've found have had a tab sticking out the back to enable you to twist them in to place. Does anyone know of these are suitable for replacing the originals or do we need to find the exact matching bulbs? I am looking to replace all my.pod lights and switch lights with red backlighting and the dash ones with an ice white or maybe even blue? Not sure if red would be a good choice for dash but I'd like to try them and see how they look.. I'm sure Mr phutumsch will be the man for this one but I like to put it out there for all to throw their light upon the subject (pardon the pun) Thanks in advance for your help!

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
Coventry sounds a good idea.. Forgive me, I seem to be venting frustration here as I've recently been let down on plans to finally buy a piece of land next to my house to finally get my garage built. Unfortunately, greed of the owner has stopped this and now I'll be looking to move if I ever want a garage. My Z is in need of a warm dry place to be worked on and funding for parts etc is tight and they aren't getting any cheaper. I'm beginning to fear that I'll begin to watch a decline in the cars condition, simply through lack of a space to work and store her. So forgive my little rants here, I'm just feeling sorry for myself as I'd love to get my car up to scratch, just keep running in to brick walls with plans made.. Frustrated at the thought that I can't get the car how I want it! Shed full of bits to fit and nowhere to fit them.. Anyway ignore the self pity! Lol

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
To me, a classic cars charm has always been a little wear and tear, I've never understood why someone would buy a car and just lock it away. If you want a perfect image buy a photo? A car is meant to be driven, enjoyed and over time picks up its character from the wear. A great classic car has to have signs of use, it's like the lines on a humans face. Over the years you gather the marks of life, even if youre in great condition, those lines give you character. An untouched car is a sad thing to see.. Yes it may be perfect, but perfection shows a very dull life for a car.. Even if a car is fully restored, I'd still like to see the wear marks on the seats etc.. Signs of love from its owners... Thats my view anyway.. I don't expect others to share the same view

NEC 2016 - Bring your Zed
Well I'll never be putting mine in the show at the NEC then.. I don't have money or time dripping out of every hole and I don't even own a garage. Mine lives on the drive as has every other car I've owned, I spend a ludicrous amount of time washing polishing and waxing to keep her looking her best, I guess mine will always be as it was meant to be.. Driven!

So who's the judge of that? I consider the bodywork of my car to be prettymuch A1 the trims are showing their age a little but paint work is great. The tweed interior is the only thing letting it down really and requiring a good clean under the bonnet. Too afraid to get the steamer out and don't know how else to clean an engine bay to be honest.. However you clean it, you have to rinse the product off so how do you keep the water away?

Jae 2016 poll
You'd be suprised Alic, there's a big jap car following in Ireland mate. Although I am finding it hilarious that some are saying they won't go to jae cos it's now £45 but are considering a trip to Ireland which dutchgold has stated cost £500 to come to jae last year? I personally would go to jae this year and even bought a tent for the occasion so I'll be there, club stand or not..
