What did you do to your zed today?
I've had the Polish out again today, hoovered her out and cleaned the glass all round. Fitted up the new plenum cover dressings which look very nice. Been looking around the bay and wondering where to start really.. I've got a red silicone pipe kit for all the smaller hoses and looking to get the large pipework done soon. I had a chance to get her up on a four post lift on Saturday, looking under the car I found a connector under the passenger side a few inches from the cats. Does anyone know what it is? I didn't get a picture as I'm stupid like that sometimes, but the connector looks the same as the bulb connectors for the headlights and has a rubber protective cover that looks as if it would fit over the connector and whatever it joined to. The rubber cover is black rubber and is a kind of cup shape. I also found a little oily substance coming from the small hole in the clutch bell housing.. Anyone know if this is a bad sign? Clutch was replaced about 2 years ago and has only done about 2000 miles.. Any clues anyone?

Depends on the level of comfort available I guess lol.. Any ideas on how big the pitches are fir tents? I don't think I have anything smaller than a 6 man one.

Nah, airflow is fine..no overheating.. The plate is actually on brackets held away from the front of the car. Plenty of air getting through with the nice big grinning vent.. :tongue_smilie:

She drives superbly.. Smooth as silk.. Sounds very refined for a v6 tt no loud barks, just a nice low warble... Holds the road like poo to a blanket and turns heads everywhere I go.. I haven't had such a chatty social life with strangers ever before.. Everyone just has to ask me about her.. I try not to stop too much now lol.. Still like the nostrils though. I think it makes her a little different from the rest .. Always nice to be unique..

I actually think they are OK, I have thought about removing them but they've been there for 20 years, they're fake.. No holes in them.. They are stuck down with some kind of 3M glue and I don't want to risk the paintwork.. And obviously the possible colour fade.. I do like them though, as tomomontana put it, she has big nostrils.. Lol..

Well today I've got a lot on, just had the skip arrive to finally get shot of a load of stuff from my workshop, garden and house.. Once all that is gone, I'm getting the dremel out to grind the one and only spot of rust I've found on my zed.. A little grinding, some rust cure, primer and a little touch up.. Once she's all dry again, some Maguires wash n wax then a good Polish and after finishing spray.. She'll look like glass when I'm done.. Waiting on some bits from automodz.. I'll be fitting the colour coded steering wheel, series 2 ptu and a set of new coil packs as I seem to have a small misfire under power.. Still itching for the rims to arrive! She's gonna look beautiful in those new heels.. Gonna take the plenum balance tube off and spray it the body colour once the seals arrive too. Looking to get some red silicone intercooler hoses in exchange for the blue ones I've got. Anyone got some red ones? I'm also looking for a set of afterburner rear lights.. Any ideas where they can be found?

What's the issues with the short shift then Stephen? Ive never fitted one so just assumed being from japspeed they'd be tried and tested by now.. I'm fairly certain that the stick is on the right way round,I don't think it's ever been off by the look of it.. Although I could be wrong.. It might just be the fact I have premium pork sausages for fingers so they're a little thicker than the average chipolata.. Bit like the owner.. I'd like some advice on.the short shifter before I fit it, cos I don't need the issues if it's gonna be a pain in.the Harris.. I'd rather the pain in the knuckles than.cause any gearbox issues..

I'm looking to go too. Will be bringing a mate with me.. Just trying to boom the time off work. Itll be just the one z.. I'm assuming I'll be filling the boot with camping stuff!? Might have to be a bin bag and some sticks if the tent is still in the shed.. Been there for 15 years lol..

Well I've got a disability in my left elbow where it doesn't fully straighten so the gearstick feels like it's a little out of reach when I push it forward in to 1st and 3rd.. I'm kinda getting sick of squashing my fingers on the stereo fascia too.. Every time I go in to 3rd it's followed by a ah *****cks! Which takes away from the sound of the waste gates in a very unstylish manner! Lol. Can't wait for the rims to arrive, they're being made at the moment, drilled and powder coated.. Spigot rings being made to the correct size too. I know they'll look great.. Might be looking for some grooved and drilled discs too, I'm still running oem ones. They seem to work ok, but u can never have too much stopping power in a 300 huh.. Also looking for an exhaust system. The one fitted sounds nice but it is very quiet. I'm liking the look of the two oval pipes to fill the gaps in the rear bumper. Cat back I think as I'm not sure about removing the cat yet. To be honest, I don't really know the advantage of having one or really what it actually does.. I just know they cost a bomb and people like to nick them off range rovers!? Lol..

What did you do to your zed today?
Well, today I ordered my new thatcham clifford alarm to be fitted Friday.. Received my japspeed short shifter and a dress up kit for the engine cover (going to fit now) also paid and ordered my new rims! Gonna look gorgeous on my mint red girl! Had to scrimp on the rubber a little so went for nankang boots but ive been advised they're a good mid range tyre.. Any opinions on them? I'm looking forward to getting all the goodies on her and taking some nice photos for the gallery.. She's a stunner, although I know there's some disagreement about the nostrils she has.. Lol

1990 G jap z32 twin turbo auto.
Selling black metallic jap import 300zx.Z32. Auto targa.. Bought it only a few weeks ago and was looking for a really clean one. This one has a few rusty bits needing attention to bring it back to 100% but appears to be mechanically sound. Full Mot, everything works including all electrics. Just requires some tlc and time spent to get her up to scratch. Lovely looking car and sounds amazing with the single exit pipe. Decat stainless 3" exhaust, alloys could do with paint stripping as the previous moron used a brush on them? Don't ask why. Worth a look anyway if ur after a usable car. Chipped ecu, some upgrades done. Car used to belong to club member tomomontana, so history available if needed. Big folder full of receipts and history with some useful tech info in there too. Original flare from Japan and owners handbook also. Interior is clean bit could also do with some loose bits tightening..all in all its a good car just needs tlc to be great again.. Offers around £3000 but will consider an offer near to it for club members. Advertised on ebay at present time. Any info or interest please call me on 07900887433 Cheers.. Paul (nemesiZX)

Turbo boost system diagram help?
Hi, I've been chatting to tomomontana about my 1990 300 TT. It's his opinion and now mine, that I may have a boost leak somewhere in the system.. I've been trying to locate a good diagram showing the complete system and locations of hoses so I can check them for leaks one by one until I find them all if they actually are there. Does anyone have such a diagram or have any idea of the best places to check first, ie the most likely candidates to split or become loose? I'm still very afraid of what's under the bonnet of these cars, dark forces are at work under here with many gremlins ready to drag unsuspecting owners in never to be seen again.. Well ok, maybe not as bad as that but it's so tight under there it took me 45 minutes to get the headlight bulb back in this morning! Definitely a positive if ur hands are more the first of chipolata than the premium pork bangers I currently own.. Anyway, guys if there's any info available I'm certain you'll know where to find it. I appreciate your helpful contributions.. Cheers..

In need of some advice! Electrical advice...
Well after having a good think about it, and had some quotes foe the car to be squared up, I've actually decided to sell her on. Theres nothing majorly wrong with the car, drives superbly but i want to start out with one that's had no bodywork done previously and has never rusted. I've actually bought a new vehicle and will be flying up to collect it from Aberdeen on Saturday morning. Nice 550 mile drive home, so that should show up any driver train imperfections! Lol.. Tomomontana's old car is in my opinion a very nice looking car, drives well and has been previously well looked after, it's previous owner has let it go a little but hopefully she'll go to a.new home with an owner that will take good care of her.

yes mondo is right, the guy i bought it from bought it from tomomontana, i was given his name by the guy i bought the car from. thanks for your help contacting him, at least i might get some honest answers from him, the guy i bought it seemed a nice guy, im thinking maybe he just wasnt aware of the cars problems as they arent obvious if you dont know what youre looking at.. its a shame i just didnt notice the problems myself as id maybe have walked away or paid much less..

hi dave, yes i bought it from the polish guy. i didnt pay what he advertised it for, i gave him £3350, i may have still slipped up a little but i certainly wouldnt have paid out £4700 on it after viewing it. its a nice looking car, the interior has been well kept and the motor seems solid, all be it a little lumpy at times but im sure a tune and service would cure that. ill give you a call tomorrow as ive only just seen this message and im sure your not up for a midnight conversation lol.. thanks for getting in touch, i will definitely value any help and info you can give..

Any idea how I can contact him groover? Really need help with this car, or I'm fearing it's gonna be a breaker.. Where's the best place u know to get bodywork sorted at a good price? I'd attempt it myself but don't want to ruin it so, gonna have to pay.. Just don't wanna end up with crap job and it needing doing again in six months. Ain't got a fortune to spend either, if I'd really seen the cars faults I'd have run a mile or payed half as much!

In need of some advice! Electrical advice...
Thanks for all ur suggestions guys, can't actually believe the amount of knowledge there is in here! Obviously been a lot of experience.. I'm just starting out with these and to be honest I think I may have been dazzled by the performance enough to miss a few faults. A couple of which I've just noticed after checking some of the suggestions given by your good selves.. The guy that sold me this car obviously failed to let me in on a few of its problems.. I moved the wiper blades this morning as the windscreen was wet and found the blades are knackered and falling of the wipers.. I'm fairly certain that's an not fail but the Mot was done 16th last month with no advisories? Also whilst under the bonnet I found the source of the non working turbo boost gauge to be a hose that had popped off the pipework going over the back of the engine.. So hooray now the oil pressure gauge and turbo gauges seem to work a lot better.. However, whilst leaning over and looking for the small sender unit suggested in the first reply to this thread, I discovered a large cracked rust spot on the inner wing behind the suspension mount. Approx 5 inches across and looking like the first pothole I find is going to rain bits of my inner wing all over the road! Also a painted over previous repair, looking like a filler job, on the passenger side too. I'm failing to see how the Mot is straight right now. So my next question is... Does anyone know of a good body restorer that specialise in the 300zx? It's looking like engine out, cutting tools, welders and a prayer are desperately needed now! Being a peaceful type of guy I'm restraining the urgent need to go back to the seller and twist off his head right now.. Didn't get far enough in to checking the TCU but it appears the pods on both sides have been tampered with as they are loose fitting.. Something else I failed to notice in my excitement.. I was given a small electrical box with a metal backing plate with 4 bolt holes for mounting which I believe may be a spare TCU. I think the guy said it was a TPU but his accent was quite thick so may have misheard him.. Anyone know how I can contact tomonator? He was a previous owner apparently, so he may have some valuable insight in to its history.. Ive tried to contact him but the site won't allow it as I'm new here.. If anyone has a moment they can give me some advice over the phone, or anyone around the bedfordshire area could come take a look and give me an opinion I would be most grateful for the help.. As right now I'm lost as to where to go with this car. As it's supposed to be my everyday vehicle now it's getting quite worrying after selling my old car to buy one that could be off the road until I'm drawing a pension!
