Yup, I totally agree.. The red on my car is wonderful when it's all polished and shiny.. It's nissan paint code AH3 candy red. I say make it red, there's far too many blacks whites and blues out there.. Although I must admit that gun metal grey metallic is very nice too..

The slam panel/radiator cover has Z on it now..

Cheers for your input and your help with this Andy. I think I might have to angle them down more towards the road as the slots they're fixed in to in the bumper do seem to point them directly at the oncoming traffic but that shouldn't be a difficult fix. Just a small fillet behind the top of the fitting should do the job. I drove it to work this evening and noticed that I have one sidelight flickering but i think it may be down to a bad solder joint rather than the led. I ordered a fast flash relay as you rightly prescribed and it's in the post, so a couple of days of disco indicators and hopefully I've ordered the correct relay so it should be fixed. The one I ordered is a 3 pin relay, so I am hoping it's the correct one! Can you remind me where you said it was Andy? I know you said drivers footwell, but is that up where the consult plug is or maybe behind the panel on the right just in front of the door? Thanks again for your help and advice, it's been invaluable as usual..

Well, got up this morning and finished fitting the light panels to the passenger side. Now all the indicators are flashing rapidly so got to get a fast flash relay soon or I'll be losing bulbs I think! I'm fairly sure that the sidelights are gonna blind people though so might have to get some window tint and cover the sidelights? Hopefully it'll dim them enough or ill have to angle them down somehow.. Anyway, they're in and I think they look pretty smart.

Seeing as the sun was shining I thought it'd be a good day to fit my custom made carbon sidelight/indicator panels. The Abflug bumper on my car has a strange set up for the sidelights and indicators. The bulbs and holders actually fit directly in to the fibreglass on the back of the bumper and there is a plastic lens also built in to the inside of the bumper. The smoke cover is then screwed on to the outer edge of the bumper. So first I removed the bulbs and then the outer cover. I had to drill through the inner lens so that it could be broken up and removed to give way to the wiring for the new panels. After this I soldered the new connectors on to the wiring and connected them up. Asked my friend to switch on the lights and hazards to test. He did, I then saw the wiring to one of the indicator leds start smoking!! Unfortunately it turned out that one of the leds had an internal short and I didn't have a spare, so I rewired another sidelight in to leave me with 3 sidelights and one indicator. Not as I'd planned but at least they're working.. As the sun went down I began to feel like an ice age had set in on my backside. So I gave up on the idea of starting the passenger side.. I tested the lights again, this time using the indicator stalk. I then find that the indicator is flashing rapidly!!! Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh!! after a chat with the God of lighting (phutumsch) I now need to buy a fast flash relay to replace the original manufacturer's equipment. Fingers crossed the sun will be out again tomorrow so I'll get on and fit the passenger side and hopefully things will go a little better... Anyway, here's the driver side one fitted.

I finished the job at 2pm but figured it might be best to take the photos when the lights were visible.. For full effect ya know..

Well, finally got the sunshine so in perfect time got the return of Funkysi from the states, here is the completed interior lighting project I've been working on.. Best get a brown paper bag to hand Si.. Lol

Lol, wasn't implying anything about your hands Alic, just stating that mine are like coal shovels.. Don't fit anywhere I really need them to! I've learned after many years that my fingers just aren't fit for tight spaces.. I dropped a screw inside the dashboard a few weeks ago and normal fingers would have got it easily.. Mine were trying but after several plastic cuts and a lot of cursing, the screw stayed there until I found my magnet.. Lol.. First full of pork sausages!

Well you will be if you ever get that bolt off! Lol.. Good luck with it and we'll done for sticking with it.. Hopefully you won't have any expensive mistakes to learn from!! Think I'll see either Mr Kent or Mr dent for mine though, haven't got the facilities to do these major service items and to be honest,I don't have the patience either nowdays. Hands like mine dont fit in Z engine bays unless it's to check the oil and water etc..

I forgot to post a card etc and to be honest I've been bad for not sending one for years, so on Saturday night I got my mum a really nice card, a bottle of her favourite wine and chocolates. I got in the Zed and drove 87 miles to give them to her so she had them in time for mothers day.. Had a cup of coffee and then drove back home.. As for Sunday, you may have seen my post already!?!

UPDATE... Sunday was a pig of a day.. Who knew that fitting a doorcard and some wiring could produce an entirely new dictionary of profanity?? Everything went great, finished it. Locked the car, realised I'd left my phone inside and pressed the button to unlock the car, everything clicked as it should, but door doesn't unlock... BA@#ARD!!! Spent another hour correcting the shoddy work of the thatcham approved alarm fitter, before refitting everything and finally getting back in the warm! At the end of the day I got the drivers door finished but that left no time to wire the passenger one! Half a job again this weekend but at least I managed to get frostbite and rewrite the dictionary of profanity!!

Get some heat on the nut with a micro gas torch and heat the nut till its real hot, then use the 14 spanner again. The heat should free it up. It does look like a nut as you can clearly see the thread of the stud on the end. If all else fails, get a nut splitter as Valandil suggested.

OK, been up all night and now about to freeze my bearings off outside! Had a couple of led bulbs fail so out with the dash again, then I've got to fit the drivers door card and get those neons wired in.. Two pairs of everything on and I'm going for it!

Forgot to ask but does anyone know of a good dent removal place? I woke up this afternoon to a loud thud. Looked out the window to see the neighbours wheelie bin laying against my rear quarter.. Two nice pin dents either side of the fuel cap door. Needless to say I went furiously downstairs and kicked the crap out of the wheelie bin! Bloody weather! I badly need a garage or an armour plated car cover before my Z starts to resemble a cortina after a hail storm! :censored::cursing::headvswal:mad:

After puzzling my brain for ages upon the how's and where's of cleaning the engine bay, I decided today to buy a steam cleaner. I was sitting pondering it today and thought, the steamer I used to clean the interior would be small enough to fit in to small gaps around the bay and after trying it on the kitchen taps and seeing the crud that came off them, I figured why not? The steam evaporates and leaves only minor amounts of water behind, no harsh chemicals etc so I can't see what harm it could cause the engine or electricals.. It certainly won't get any wetter in there than when driving the car in wet weather.. So I bought a high powered hand held one with a flexible hose and various attachments and when it arrives I'm going to set about cleaning the out of my engine bay.. Fingers crossed that the engine doesn't pop and Fart when I start it afterwards! It's actually one of the best things I could've bought for the car, cos when the wife moans I've spent yet more money on the bloody car, I can say but I got it for you too as I thoughtful make your life easier aswell! Lol... The master plan is in place... Now, I just got to figure out how I can ease the pain of the new headlights, led rings for the venoms, colour coded nuts and bolts and a few other bits arriving... Any good excuses or explanations are welcome... If you have any you've used in the past that worked, I'd appreciate it.. C'mon, help a brother out?? Lol

Hey Andy, check the ingredients of the two, I bet you'll find they have nearly the same stuff in them! Probably find its got a few more silicone based ingredients in the expensive Polish. Hobrite is about £4 for a decent size bottle and trust me, you can only Polish something so much before they all look the same! I used hobrite and a polishing wheel on my headlights and the scratches are no more.. As I said, try it on a mirror and see the shine..

Great for reviving headlights too..
