  1. If one falls off Alic, just pile some bricks up in the opposite corner... You've still got another three..
  2. On that note... Test fitted the new light inserts for my Z after a last coat of lacquer.. Might have to wet and dry them then give another coat cos the finish isn't as perfect as I'd like.. But after a kwik refit, they do follow my theme nicely... Can't wait to get the engine bay parts back and get them fitted.. When it all comes together it'll be sweet! Just a quick question.. Does anyone know where I can get coloured braided fuel lines for the engine bay?
  3. Right I'm off to the shed to finish painting my cannibalised headlight inserts... Lacquer time :sweatdrop:
  4. I agree with mondo, the engine in these cars is the heart. I am not in the position to spend much and is the reason for selling my spares.. But, I'm selling them to safeguard the engine. If it's not a daily driver and you have the valuable time to recon some of the most important parts of the engine, I would always put the engine first.. In comparison it's like needing a heart transplant but buying a pair of trainers... You won't be walking in them if your heart packs up!
  5. As I said in my previous post mondo, for the sake of the thread I'm not continuing.. But its a case of having respect for eachother.. If somebody of any age implies someone is stupid (jokingly or otherwise) on a public forum, I believe this to be disrespectful. As I wrote previously, I've never been seen to write anything disrespectful or negative about anyone's cars here.. I was taught from a young age, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all! Just a last word on the scoops.. They have been fitted to the car since 2004. I personally don't mind them as they give the car a different look but i have thought of removing them as I love the oem lines of the car also. However, if I removed them, I'm sure you'll understand that the paint below will be a darker shade due to the sun's damaging rays.. So it's not just a case of removing the scoops as I'd have to respray the original paint or I'd end up with a multicoloured bonnet! So, until the time comes that I need a respray and can afford to spend a couple of grand at least to have it done, the vents stay for obvious reasons! Anyways... Back to the threads point from here on in..
  6. Looks like I have to explain this one then... I wasn't offended by your opinion on the scoops Alic. If you read back the conversation, I informed you that I had removed the Z32 badge from the perspex strip on my car, something you'd commented on previously and something I was never that keen on.. Followed by your comment " as long as you haven't replaced it with NOS or something silly like that" Which was your humour but could be taken as an insult. I reply, do I come across as that stupid? To which you reply " well you do have fake scoops on your bonnet" so, by this it implies that you think I am stupid... Are you catching up yet? For the sake of this thread, I'm not going to carry this on which is why I didn't reply to your last post Alic.. And Si, I knew you'd find it funny :stupid:
  7. Got a few bits I've decided to move on to make way for engine repairs and other projects.. OK, firstly I have a veilside front and rear bumper. A manual tt plenum with throttle bodies Full set of blue turbo boost hose joiners for joining the hard pipes I replaced with red but these are new, never fitted and surplus to requirements.. Six coilpacks, used but in good condition. Leather oem steering wheel for non cruise control, leather is good but centre badge a bit rubbish and needs a new one really.. Brand new oem automatic radiator. Other bits to be added soon.. Any interest, drop me a line..
  8. Alic, have you ever seen me make a negative comment about anyone else's car here? Once you've trolled through the posts to see, just ask yourself if youd like me to start.. What's in or on my car is no concern of yours. FYI the vents were there when I bought it, not that I feel I need to explain, but please do take a step back and consider what may come across as offensive.
  9. No, I've named it Alic.... Seriously, do I come across as that stupid?
  10. You'll be happy to hear that I'm not fitting the veilside front end Si.. At least not for the foreseeable future.. I'm sure Alic will smile also when I say I've removed the Z32 from the perspex strip..
  11. Finished all the cleaning and she's gleaming again... And now.... It's raining again... :cursing:
  12. Received a package today with some engine bay bits in it.. Also had another oil change done today to make sure the crud in the sump is flushed out properly.. Whilst she was up in the air, I had a good look round the underside to check on the rocker cover leak, unfortunately discovered that the front crank seal may also be weeping oil. So looks like that's going to be done also along with a cambelt and rear crank seal.. Someone's gonna be busy very soon! Anyway, sun's out so best get busy with the clay bar,Polish and wax!
  13. Had some spare time yesterday afternoon, so I went to the aladdins cave at the end of my garden to see if I could get on with something for the Z. Took the plenum, hard boost pipes and rocker covers in to the local coatings shop for coating. Ended up steering away from powder coating and went for 2 pack polyurethane coating instead under advice of the very knowledgeable guy there. Red and gold bits galore will be ready for collection midway through next week!!! Anyway, found the box that I got from Mark at automodz with the coilpacks in it. Glanced at the can of spray paint on the worktop and began whipping out the bolts that hold the coil pack brackets on.. A short time on the bench grinder with the wire wheel and all the dirty black flaky paint and rust was gone and six shiny metal brackets revealed. The sun was shining so out came the washing line and some home made wire hooks. Then dangling were six brackets.. A couple of undercoat layers and then 3 topcoats and finally 2 coats of lacquer and hey presto!! Body colour coilpack brackets!!
  14. My apologies, I didn't see the top part of the post as I often try to skim through the quotes from previous questions and get to the bit that counts, I appear to have skimmed a little too far on this occasion! When I referred to the bbq, yes I was talking about the jae event, this was the only event I'd gone to with the club so in my head I believed you'd know what I meant.. My head does work in mysterious and sometimes ( more often than not) doofus ways! Again, apologies for the confusion..
  15. The deadline for club tickets has now passed so you will be in the public car park unfortunately. There will be a time that you need to attend the stand by I believe this is 06:30 to 08:30 but it will be confirmed in your stand information pack. When are we supposed to be receiving the packs and who is sending them out? I've received my event ticket via email from japfest but ive had nothing else and nothing from anyone in here.. It'd be handy to have some info in plenty of time for the event.. Camping info would be handy too as I have quite a large tent! Are we having a bbq again and do we need anything to be brought by members?
  16. I think you may need a doctor lol.. Seriously, looks nice mate..is that the veilside rear bumper or is it an add on? I've got the veilside rear in my shed but it looks a little different.. I've removed the Z32 badge from the perspex panel now so hopefully some might be less disturbed now lol.. Need a new perspex strip but jesus they're not cheap are they! Still not sure what I'll put on the strip, but it'll come to me..
  17. Alic, I see what you're saying about the lenses and please don't worry about offending me because I don't get annoyed easily my friend. Unfortunately the computerised world doesn't allow for emotions, this I believe is why people misunderstand the words they read from a screen because people interpret things incorrectly. This is why I prefer communication on a personal level as it's so easy to misinterpret words when they are read and not heard. Just need to put this to you. You're opinion of the prismatic chambers in the centre panels would be quite valid if the leds on my lights were indeed flat. However the photo obviously doesn't show very clearly, the led rings surround the centre pot lights which are round prismatic lenses. There are in total six lights on each panel. Three outer Led rings with three round prismatic pods in their centres. So there is depth in each of the light panels just as there is in the centre panel chambers. Maybe if you saw them in the flesh, your opinion may change, however as you say, your opinion is your opinion and you are quite entitled to it.. I agree with your view on the Z32 badge, it's tacky and does need removing.. I'm wondering what to put in its place. The oem decal is flat and I'm not in to it much. Some suggestions would be great and welcomed as I don't have much of an idea on what is available.
  18. Alic, I understand what you're saying and believe me I'm not bothered by others opinions. Everyone has different opinions, it's what makes the world an interesting place, so hopefully you'll know I'm not at all stressed about anything anyone says. What I do like to do however, is understand someone else's opinion. I simply don't understand when you say the two styles don't match?? I'm simply saying that the lights are a mix of clear lenses and gloss black. The centre panel is a mix of the same. Maybe the photos don't show the rear panel clearly but i just can't see your point that's all. It's a gloss black panel all the way across with clear lenses on all lights, so I just find it hard to see where your opinion is being formed? It doesn't matter all the same, but id like to understand your view.. No malice intended or felt, just interest. I have no problem with others difference of opinion as I said, but It would be nice if that opinion could be explained so sense can be made of it..
  19. Still can't see how the centre looks out of place...
  20. How could you tint a fog light? It's supposed to be the brightest light on the car.. I have the option of buying a centre panel that would remove all the centre lights but I'm trying to retain some of the oem looks.. I can't see what you mean to be honest. The whole back panel is gloss black.. The lights are clear and so are the chambers.. What looks out of place???
  21. To be totally honest, I'm not keen on the Z32 one myself.. I put it on in the dark and it's a bit scu wif anyway so I'll remove it at some point. I do like the fairlady one though. It's not oem I know and came from the 350Z but i do really like it.. Once I get hold of a new trim piece I'll decide if it stays or goes cos the trim there is cracked at the moment so it kinda acts as a band aid aswell as a badge.. As for tinting the centre panel??? It's got the reverse and fog lights in it Stephen.. I'm not sure that tinting it is going to have the desired effect when it gets foggy! Lol.. The centre panel is black and I distinctly remember the comments about me having them carbon wrapped. It wouldn't look right with a gloss black panel in the middle against the carbon.. So I kept the light panels gloss black... Now I hear tint the light chambers??? Lol you just can't please everyone huh? The 6 led rings are just tails Andy. The outer centre pot on each side have the indicators in them and the four inner pots are led brake lights. I did manage to remove the old lights without disturbing the centre panel fortunately they came off ok. I'm gonna get the centre panel off at the weekend and see what I can do with the fog lights Andy.. Thanks for that mate..
  22. Just finished the task of fitting the venoms.. Wow they stick those tail lights on well don't they! Lol.. Anyways, all done now.. Here's my girls new improved backside.. Hold your breath and count to ten Funkysi..
  23. Are those centre panels hard to remove Andy? Just wondering if the lock has to come out with it? Got to re align the centre panel cos the new tail light panels have a different gap either side of it.. I guess I could always use one chamber for fogs and the other for reverse for now?
  24. I'm using the original wiring harness plug from the stock lights Andy. The wires pictured below are the original ones from the light harness plug The red with green trace goes to the tail lights. The green with red trace goes to the brake lights. The green with yellow trace goes to the indicators and they all share the same common earth (black) I had noted that the cars harness plug is as you say, different colour coding. However I have stayed with the light harness original loom colours in order that I can assure I connect the correct wire that coordinates with the correct bulb holders and of course to stay true to the original tail light panels wiring code in the manual. I'm interested in using the rear centre panel upper chambers for the fog lights. I've never seen the back of one of these panels. Would you by any chance have a photo showing the rear of that panel? Are the upper and lower chambers separated? I had always assumed that the upper and lower chambers were hollow joints between them so the light would spread between both. Would I need to seperate the upper and lower chambers to stop light penetration from either bulb? Or is each chamber supplied by a seperate bulb?
  25. OK, got a tech question regarding the fog light conversion for jap specs.. I opened the bulb access covers on my tail lights and found the red/green wire to my inner stop/tail light cut on the passenger side. I checked the driver side and can see that had been cut too but a live feed had been connected from the fog switch at the front of the car to the drivers side inner stop/tail light. I only noticed today but when the fog light is switched on,it also powers up my side and tail lights??? Is this normal? I'm assuming that when I fit the venom lights to the car and wire them as they were supposed to be (ie original loom) I can then fit a seperate fog light in a different location and use the feed from the switch through the light and then down to earth on the chassis etc? I was toying with using the lower centre lights in the centre panel for fogs but have decided to put the fog somewhere else. Any thoughts on the wiring I have at present?
