300zx weekend and AGM at Coventry
The one thing I can rely on is someone to point out the only negative I've pointed out! Yes, saying that " the events side of things here is starting to suck" is the only negative I've said! The parts where I mentioned how nice the members of the club are and that we need to make an effort to meet up doesn't come across as negative to me.. The point that the forum is great for technical info and a good laugh isn't negative either. I'm not being negative, I'm simply stating my disappointment in the lack of members getting together for the larger events. Places where we could have a good time together and maybe, just maybe get to know eachother a lot better and form some good friendships. I am not in any way trying to put people down, in fact quite the opposite. I'm trying to muster a bit of enthusiasm and inject a little fun. I think people take me and what I say the wrong way, maybe it's the way I word things or maybe my difference of opinion sometimes just makes people dislike me.. Whatever it is, my intentions are good, people who really know me, would tell you I'm a very kind, caring and generous person. Unfortunately, sometimes things I say are taken in the wrong way.. Anyway, i give up stressing about it now.. Take what I said however you please.

300zx weekend and AGM at Coventry
Si, I'm not looking for loads of events mate.. to be honest, i was looking forward to jae this year mainly down to the fact that I had a good craic with everyone there last year. I enjoyed it and I met a lot of members there. I'd hoped to be able to attend the whole weekend this year as I only got the opportunity to stay one day last year so missed out. The point in making the comments or MOANING as you put it, is that it creates a conversation for people to wind their necks out and talk about it! Nothing negative about it Si. It's a conversation starter that might pave the way for people to air their opinions and maybe make an improvement for everyone.. What can I say? It's been a disappointment to find out that two major events we won't have a stand.. So shoot me... :gun_bandana:

If I believed that I could rely on enough people willing to go to events, I would offer to fill the NEO shoes. But I don't suppose I've been a member long enough to be considered for it anyway.. I'm just feeling quite frustrated at the lack of events. As I said, even local meetings with other members would be good, but either I don't find out about things until it's too late or there's simply nothing on.. I'm in a bit of a Bermuda triangle of regions too so knowing where to look for meetings is sometimes made difficult.. The funny thing being that even the thought of joining a second club is OK, but I'd rather get to know the people here better and have some fun with our lot. I'm looking forward to the Coventry meeting but very disappointed about JAE. I do understand the price hike issue though. Maybe others will turn away from jae for the same reason and it might make them a little less greedy.. It's all a little depressing for me!

Thanks for that sparks, I've known about those meets for a while.. Ive been told it's full of rowdy youngsters though, although I should go and see for myself.. Only problem is that I work nights permanently and that includes every Friday! As much as I'd love to go, I'd have to book holidays for it and I don't get many of those as it is.. Thanks for the heads up though mate. It's appreciated..

Gaz, I know exactly what you are saying but this is my point! These events are made by the club members making the effort to actually attend events! Why is this club so negative when it comes to events? So other than the Japfest and the agm, what else is there to look forward to event wise? The club committee aren't to blame for the lack of willing members attending, it's the members themselves that are letting the club down. I understand people have work commitments and family ones too, but i can't see the point in having a club that doesn't make the effort to meet? This club is full of very nice, like minded people. People that if the effort was made to attend meetings, would make a day out or weekend camping, a bloody great time. For those that said jae wasnt a good event, I'm confused? I had a great time on the Friday alone, was welcomed by all, had some great conversations with everyone. Dutchgolds group were an absolute riot and had a good chat with our lighting guru phutumsch.. The forum is a great place to chat and talk Z remotely, but friends are made and good times had in a face to face environment aren't they? I don't know how most of the club feel about the lack of events, but I'm hoping that by airing my opinion, the usual buzz of the hornets nest will take hold and maybe, we could get a little enthusiasm going for some good club knees ups! Does anyone else feel like we need a bit of a fun injection here? The current bun is starting to dose us up with a bit of warmth and the opportunity to have some good memorable times is here.. C'mon people, like the song lyrics... Let's get together?!

No stand at Japfest 2, no stand or arrangements for jae, the only event I can see for here is the agm.. I've been a member for a year and there's been 2 events I've been aware of where any volume of people have attended. I like the club, I like the members, yes even you Si! Lol.. Just want to get out to shows and meetings etc instead of sitting around at weekends. Theres not really anyone I've found up for meetings locally apart from bedzee. I'm getting very bored!

What did you do to your zed today?
In true blue Peter tradition.. Here's one I made earlier! Silicone funnel available on ebay for £1.99

If it's worse case scenario, you'll be looking at a boot glass refit by a screen company. However the hoover and silicone job is pretty effective. Just put a silicone funnel on the end of your hoovers hose end attachment and squeeze a little silicone in to the area indicated by the water mark left by the food colouring, then from the outside of the boot, place the silicone funnel over the area in the corner of the boot and switch the hoover on for a few seconds at a time until you see the silicone appearing through the seal. Wipe off the excess and allow to dry.. Simplezz!!

Just be careful with where you put the colouring and only use a tiny amount otherwise you may get stains on your paint. You could put a tiny drip on all places you suspect for leaks. Each place use a different colour and then you'll know exactly where it's coming in from. It's a technique used in a lot of leak detections. They put dyes in water systems and hydraulics etc as it makes leaks far easier to detect. Like I said though, only use a tiny amount and be careful not to get it on your paintwork.. We don't want you ending up with a rainbow bootlid lol

Dutch, if you're still leaking I'd suggest trying this.. Where your boot windscreen meets the corners at the rear of the boot lid, get some food colouring and just put a tiny drop in the rear left corner where the water usually sits. Before you do this, take the plastic cover off the underside and tape a little kitchen roll to the underside of the glass seal in the bootlid at that corner. Leave the plastic trim off and then close the boot and put a drop of food colouring right in the corner of the glass and then add a tablespoon of water to it so it pools there. Leave it for the day and then check the paper towel later or the following morning. I've got a funny feeling that you'll find the colouring on the paper towel. I'm fairly sure that my leak is in the same place. Water seeping in around the rubbers in the screen corners. If nothing else, it'll confirm if you've got a boot screen seal problem or not.. Worth a try? I'm thinking of trying to reseal mine with a hoover and some silicone. Put the silicone on the underside in the corner and then hoover it on the topside to suck the sealant in to the gap. I've used this repair process before on an old Renault and it worked surprisingly well.

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
I'll be coming to Coventry Craig and I'd like to chat about how we can improve upon the club's enthusiasm for attending events.. 99% of the people I've met here are diamonds and to be honest I'd like to see everyone getting together on club events and really interacting and having some fun together. The jae event last year was a cracking one and I'm gutted I couldn't stay for the duration as I really was enjoying myself there... Anyway, the agm at Coventry I'm looking forward to. Hopefully I'll be able to get more involved in organising some events and doing my bit to enhance the club's fun factor..

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
Like I said, you're missing my point.. I agree with Lexx and if you read my posts about this you'd see that I have said that japfest is all about going around and seeing the OTHER CARS AND THE DRIFTING, STALLS ETC.. Regardless of what people think I want to hear, the one thing I don't want to hear is that a member of our club has felt the way draxxan did when attending a club stand at an event... Anyway, I'm not gonna keep on about it because it seems that nobody is really understanding me here, but all I will say is this. Draxxan, I apologise if you felt unwelcomed and I'm sorry you felt this way. I spent a lot of the day in or around my car recovering from the nights camping, so I'm sorry if I didn't appear approachable or made you or your wife feel the way you did.. Rest assured things will be different on our next meeting.. I'd have liked to have chatted more to you about your car and gotten to know you both a little too. I'll leave it there..

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
I believe you're missing my point.. I knew exactly what to expect from japfest as I have actually been before but didn't own a Z then. My whole point here is that other than the hard work of 370AD in organising the club stand tickets etc, which IS TOTALLY appreciated by the members who booked, there was nothing else with any organisation at all. My point here is that there are people who did make the effort to attend the event and that travelled a very long way to be there. The fact that they felt quite unwelcomed and alone on our club stand is not a nice way to think that our club has made one of its members feel. As I said previously, I understand the fact that japfest is not a typical club event, like jae and the agm etc and I fully understand the point of people doing what japfest is about ie, looking around at other people's cars. What I'm saying is, I was the second person to arrive behind adl phoenix if I remember correctly, and I pulled in to a car park with no guidance or clue about where to park, how to park etc.. There were no banners to indicate our stand. In my opinion, the club could have put its own small touches on the event to make things a little more club orientated and help bring the members together for a short time and focus on our own cars aswell as the vast fields of others. My friend attended with his celica club and they had a few nice touches added by the club. The fact that we have quite a lot of members and the turn out was low was just disappointing and obviously, the fewer attendees, the less chance of people being around to chat etc.. I enjoyed the event, I just felt our stand was lackluster and very disorganised and after reading draxxan's post about how he and his wife felt, I actually feel quite gutted that one of our members felt this way whilst attending an event with our club. I'm sure most, if not all of the members here, want everyone to feel welcomed and a valued part of our members team..

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
Lexx, I'm not saying that everyone shouldve been standing around chatting and missing the show. The whole point of japfest is for people to see the cars, the different models and makes and the impressive amount of effort that people have gone to with their cars. Not of course forgetting the drifting events and market stalls etc. My thoughts were that this event was being organised for months and our club turn out was dire.. 370AD did go to a lot of trouble to organise the tickets and stands across the three clubs and his efforts were appreciated by those that attended. But when we arrived, there was none of our clubs officials present that I was aware of, no direction on where or how to park, no banners and no organisation. The location of our stand, in my opinion was actually perfect. A cafe within 100 yards with toilets, the pits not much further, a decent large corner of the track for view of the drifting and the trade stands only across the road too. Not that the trade stands at these events cater for us lovers of the old girls! I feel that the whole thing could've been a lot better day if we'd had a larger club presence and maybe some fun things for the club members to take part in.. Even little awards for club members like best in show etc.. As for the chatting, I did manage to speak to Joely, draxxan, Richie and a few others but not for very long, but as I said, there was plenty to see and obviously standing around your car all day wasn't going to make the day any better.. I did have plenty of attention with my car from the general flow of onlookers and had some quite good conversations with some of these people that had said they'd like to own a 300Z. I gave them a little insight in to the car and what owning one has been like for me. Some of the things to look out for when buying and also information about the club. If it'd been known that we needed someone to sort banners etc, I'd have volunteered to sort this.. In future I'll make it known now that if any help is needed in the organisation of events, I am happy to help with things if I can.

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
To be perfectly honest, I found it very boring as far as our stand went and I'm in agreement with draxxan. There were no club banners, no one representing the club as far as organisation was concerned. Even though I slept in a freezing cold field all night, I did make the effort to talk to the other club members as and when I could find one.. It's a tough one because this type of event is quite different to most. Theres a hell of a lot to take in and lots to do and see. The scale of the show was enormous and the turn out for the club was low, which in my opinion is a bad reflection on the club. Out of the members we have, we managed to muster about 12 - 13 members for the event.. Not exactly a big effort made by the club's members really considering japfest is the largest Japanese car show in Europe! It's hard to balance things when numbers are so low. If more people had made an effort to attend then there would have been more chance of people being around to chat with and make it an event rather than a carpark meeting. Even the campsite was a joke, we had enough room for 17 campers and had only 2 there.. In my opinion, those that were there wanted to see the event which is perfectly reasonable but it was totally disorganised and wasn't worth paying extra for a club stand which was basically a car park with a line of Z's being swamped by other models.. No club competitions, just a group parking place for our cars to stay whilst individuals went their seperate ways around the show. I think between the members we could have organised something a little more to make it more of a club event if we'd known it was just a case of buying a ticket and that's everything organised. With the amount of members we have, we need to make the effort to get a decent sized group together for events. Otherwise it won't just be the cars numbers that are falling, but the members aswell. I mean who really wants to go to an event when they know it'll be a handful of people each time.. C'mon people, this is a club for enthusiasts... So get bloody enthusiastic and come to the events.. A little cold and rain never hurt anyone and to be honest, if a little rain or cold is gonna put you off attending meetings, you're not gonna get out much in this country huh? For those that did attend, hats off to you. I'd have liked to have had a good chat and would have if I'd been able to locate anyone.. Those that I did find, it was an enjoyable chat..

Cheers Pete.. I saw that the tickets they were selling on the zclub forum were priced at £48 and included both events japfest 1+2 so I was assuming they'd have a stand at Rockingham aswell as Silverstone.. Thanks for the info Pete.

300zx body shell.
Hi all, I'm looking for a 300zx 2+2 body shell. Don't care about rusty sills etc. Don't need anything left attached like fuel tank or glass, doors, targas or anything else, just need the boot lid left on it and the rear centre panel with a key to unlock/lock it. Just basically want the body and chassis with the boot lid and that's it.. Don't want to pay a fortune as it's for a project I'm working on, so basically if you're breaking a Z and want to get shot of the chassis/body then give me a shout and hopefully I'll cart off the carcass.. All will be revealed as to why I want this when the project is complete.. Cheers..

Japfest 2016 - Silverstone - Sunday 24th April - Updated with payment details
Does anyone know Who I need to speak to at zclub.net about japfest 2. Trying to find out if they have a stand there at Rockingham. It appears as though we won't be having a club stand there so I'm going to try and book a camping pass and ticket through the zclub like last time..
