1. Hotel payment sent Craig, can you confirm it's been received mate.. Cheers..
2. I've considered those bose enclosures Chris, but don't know much about them and the sound quality difference. I've seen them advertised on fleebay. Are they much of an improvement? I'm thinking of building some custom speaker pods for the front doors to house my gold speakers and now I've got lots of door cards to use it should make life simpler.. Any pictures of the shift knob? Need to replace mine sometime so it'd be good to see the difference from the series one spec.. How much did it cost mate? - - - Updated - - - Lol.. Ok, but I'll be waiting... Eagerly... Lol
3. I'll be going alone, so where are you needing a lift Jay? I'm happy to help you out mate, as long as your mate has very short legs..
4. I could make it look very special Alic...
5. Spent the day pulling bits off the donor car and had Sparkysparks over to pick up a couple of bits. Nice guy. Had a good chat. Nice to meet another member and especially one so local.. I then had to get the workshop cleared out a little to be able to fit the IBC in ready to start work on it. It's being turned In to a new tank for my hydrographic dipping. I also had time to start dipping some other parts for my car and prepping some parts for a customer.. I reworked the fusebox cover I got from Richy Speed and it ended up looking like this..
6. We could always just cut the whole front end off and weld this one on? Lol
7. I wouldn't know mate, I try and avoid her as much as possible these days, that's why I work nights lol..
8. The cutting ain't a problem red.. I love a bit of grinding whenever I get a chance and to be honest I don't get the chance very often! I get a strange sense of pleasure out of standing in a rain of sparks amidst the deconstruction of an object... Not sure what that says about me really but hey? We all have our own little quirky pleasures lol. Plus my grinder hasn't seen any action in a few years so it'll be nice to get it to work on something. I'm on Facebook too, so if you add me ( Paul miyagi Liff) I can ping you photos instantly.. It's also easier to message things through than here as I get the messages quicker through Facebook due to my email server not liking my phone too much. What I'll do is chalk a line round the area I'm going to cut and put a photo up. If one of the more knowledgeable people here can confirm if it's correct, then I'll chop it.. I'm planning to take quite a wide area around it away with it so there's no mistakes. It can then just be ground away to the rear of the spot welds until it seperates naturally in to the piece required. I'm assuming you'd need to do the opposite and grind away from the panel you're replacing to leave the skin intact for re welding it back in place. Anyways, add me on Facebook red and I'll keep you posted on the progress mate. Got a busy weekend of stripping to do aswell as boxing up goodies for people etc.. The panel required should be fully revealed by tomorrow evening so I'll get you a picture when I can.
9. Cor, he don't want too much does he lads? Lmfao.. Only kidding red.. I'm stripping the Intercoolers and air con rad out tomorrow so I will give it a jet wash and see what photos I can get in situ mate.. If you pm me your mobile number I can send them through whatsapp if you like or fb messenger.. I was looking at it today whilst stripping a wing off and it has a little surface rust on one side but has only lifted a little paint. It's solid though, I gave it a good tap with my Mot hammer and it all went donk donk not crunch crunch so it's a good sign lol :smash:
10. That's fine red I totally get where you're coming from.. Seeing is believing mate and I'm sure I'd be the same if it were me in your shoes.. I'm sure that the car owes you more than it owes you, this is a fact of ownership with these old girls but the fact that your prepared to put the toil in to repairing her earns you my respect.. Too many people really don't care enough about their cars to go through the hard work to keep them alive.. We live in a throw away society nowdays.. Some things don't belong in that category and a 300zx is one of them.. I'll see if I can get some decent photos of the area in this car to show you it's condition.. I'll jet wash the oil off it first though or I might aswell send you a blank photo! Lol
11. Red, it was gonna get scrapped if you hadn't wanted it anyway,so it's best it goes back in to keeping a Z alive in my mind.. I will closely inspect the part and if it has any signs of bad deterioration I will let you know immediately so you can source another, but from what I've seen of it, it's covered in oil and nothing that's covered in oil can be that rusty! I'll clean it up and rust treat it and then hammerite it black for you mate.. The fact that you're prepared to put the work in to save the car is good enough for me to want to help you out.. The other thing is, why waste a perfectly good member? Even a woman couldn't disagree with that one!
12. So by the looks of things red, you need parts 38, 33 & 35 from that schematic yes? If that's the case, I'll get on to taking it out on the weekend.. I've got loads to strip out of it so I'll get the front apart and cut around the welds to the inner wings and chassis, so you'll just need to grind the bits away that you don't need mate. Shouldn't be too difficult now I can stand in the engine bay :tt2: I'll send you a photo when it's out.. Oh and sorry for the questions on your thread red, I meant to put that in a different one but had a blonde moment.. In fact peroxide cos I did it twice! Lol..
13. Just a quicky.. Anyone got a balance bar for a tt manual they want to sell or swap?
14. Baz, you really do love a project don't you! I wouldn't know where to start on that one? Good on ya though, I like to see a Z that's been left for dead, rise from the Ashes... Good luck with her mate.. On another note, I thought I might give you a sneak peek at Parton my engine dressing.. It's all gonna come together at once and probably not that long from now.. I picked this little lot up from the coating workshop a few days ago.. I can see it coming together now..
15. Just another quicky.. The plenum for the Z, are there any differences between the auto and manual versions? I am aware that the balance tube has a pipe used in the manual car, but are the plenums the same?
16. I think I've got that? Lol.. I'll have to check the pipes when I finish work as I can't remember what they look like to be able to compare at the moment, but thanks for that mate, I'm sure it will all make sense when I have them in front of me! Maybe... I bought the pipes from ebay and have been told they are normally a very tight fit, so the grinder will be on hand to give them a helping hand if needs be. Here's a photo of the pipes..
17. Hey guys, I've got some hard pipes to replace the soft plenum pipes, there are four boost hoses? I think that's the correct name.. Anyways, can anyone show me which pipe goes in which position as I'm about to do some dipping on them and need to know the positions so I dip the designs the right way up.. because they aren't all the same, it's giving me a headache! In between work and two hours sleep I started to dip my best mates gen 7 celica engine bay today. Opinions welcomed.. Obviously isn't to everyone's taste but i got to say I'm chuffed with the results..
18. Red, that's perfectly cool with me.. The cars not even half stripped of the parts yet, so it's not gonna be going anywhere for a while.. If anyone can show me exactly what needs to be salvaged for red, let me know and if I get the chance to do it before hand, I'll cut the bugger off for him myself..
19. The other good thing is I have a wire wheel and a tin of hammerite aswell. Anything remotely brown can be removed and protected instantly mate.. I'm 40 minutes down the m1 from you.. Junction 11. So should I get the kettle on Sunday morning or what?
20. Red, the cross member on the breaker I have is in very good condition mate, it's probably cos it's been coated in oil half its life by the looks of it! Seriously mate, come and take this one and see if it helps you out. I'd like to see it go to helping keep another Z alive red. You can have it free of charge.. It's at least worth taking it to see if it can help and all it'll cost you is a little work to take this one off. Theres no engine in this car so you won't have any trouble getting access to it. The wings and front bumper are also off so basically you're looking straight at the bit you need.. I've got a grinder and some thin cutting discs here so don't ponder over it mate, the bit you need is right here.. It's yours mate, give your Z the bit she needs..
21. As long as it's topped up with vodka..
22. Red, I'm breaking a tt auto and the cross member is in good condition.. I'll be cutting the car in half at some point so,if you want to bring a grinder and cut the section out that you need, you're welcome to it mate.. Gimme a drink and it's yours..
23. Yes I've seen that now mondo.. It was a bit confusing when he told me the handles and vents were one piece.. Still, I'll wait for the photos and see what the score is..
24. Apparently not mate.. I don't think I've ever seen it, but i have a guy with a Z asking me to do some work on his car and he said the door air vents are part of the switch panel and handle. I can only assume either it's a custom job or they do actually exist.. Very strange stuff
