What did you do to your zed today?
I feel your pain with the door handles ted, I had to take one off the breaker car the other day for someone who wanted it and I swore many many times.. I managed to remove the window motor mechanism for somebody too but I haven't heard back from them yet. Can't remember who it was that asked now but it was the guy that parked next to me in a red Z with bad paint fade.. If anyone remembers who it is, can you remind me please??

Just finished preparing the car for tomorrow's Japanese matsuri in Essex with Joelyp, Chrisbasildon and bedzeeman.. A few others too. In typical English tradition, once I've washed polished and waxed the car, or starts to spit with rain :censored: She's looking.. Well, like this.. Let's pray for a really nice dry day!

The ones ted has are factory nissan ones.. Stapled together in 1990 at the nissan factory number X. They've lasted pretty good for 26 years and those staples are still intact and doing their job! They're also lighter than impul and fit perfectly.. I'd stick with the side mounts ted unless you're thinking of ramping up the bhp.. Far too much farting around with new IC hoses as Alic said.. The original hoses are bad enough to work around! Seen your photos of the paintwork by the way amd she's looking great mate.. Can't wait to see it in the flesh sometime soon..

I've only ever had trouble with one car washing its engine bay but that was an old rover sd1 V8 and it was about as waterproof as a teabag. Don't really know how to approach it with just rags and cleaner as there are so many parts that I wouldn't be able to get to. I think it'd look worse to be honest.

They look great Chris, I'm planning to do a door pod over the original speakers to hold my 6.5" gold speakers and I'm considering building a couple for the rears aswell. Plan is to shape the boxes to fit around the boot lid on either side so I can house a couple of 6.5's in each and still keep the 6x9 style originals in there aswell.. Also been toying with idea of one of the underseat bass boxes but not sure if it'll fit and if they're any good either.. Just don't want to lose the bootspace with a sub box.. Need to put the targas somewhere!

I do have to agree with Stephen, I've had cars that are half this age that after washing the engine bay have sounded like a skeleton in a biscuit tin having a w#@K. The connectors on these cars are pretty pants to begin with and the age and heat under there is only going to have made them worse. I think I may get the engine nice and hot on a nice sunny day and give mine a try, at least then the heat under there and the bonnet open in the sun, there's less chance of the water staying under there if it does get in the wrong places. I only need do it the once to clean it up in there as mine is quite dirty. It'd be nice to see it clean cos I think it'll come up really nice. Degreaser tomorrow then! Give it a go if the weather hot enough..

Did you wash the engine? I have been told to avoid that like the plague! I would so love to steam my engine bay but don't want to fry anything electrical or cause it to run like a bag if nails... How did you clean the engine?

Turbo timer problem?!?!? Help!
After the comments from Stephen and doing some research I've decided to remove the timer. As all it does is keep the engine running it seems pointless to replace it when I can just sit In the car for a minute when parked and seeing as I have to wait for it to shut off before my central locking will work it won't make much of a difference to my life without it. The question now is, how do I remove it safely without disturbing anything that it's wired to? It's like the loom of concorde under there at the moment and I'd hate to pull a wire out that is going to cause me a headache to put right. By the looks of it, it has its own harness to connect it but it does also look like it's been chopped around under there a bit. Anyone have any idea about how to go about removal?

Turbo timer problem?!?!? Help!
I never leave my car running unattended, in fact my central locking and alarm won't operate whilst the timer is still counting down. I just like to have it because that way I can't forget to run it for a minute or so. The timer makes no difference to the rpm when it's running, in fact I believe the rpm's drop when the timer is operating. I'm just puzzled as to why the thing is all lit up Asia should be but it isn't working? Just seems a bit odd that it just stopped working all of a sudden. Figured it might have been a wiring fault or something.. I've got a Hks one in the workshop with the correct loom harness

Turbo timer problem?!?!? Help!
I use mine everytime I switch off regardless of boost. I prefer to know the oil in the turbos is not going to fry my turbos and there's no harm in waiting 60 seconds for the car to stop. Chris, you do know that you can normally switch the timer on and off don't you?

Turbo timer problem?!?!? Help!
Hi guys, I got home from work this morning and switched off the cars ignition expecting the same beeping as normal. However I was surprised when the car just stopped running and no beeps? I know the timer was working when I got to work and when I stopped to get some shopping on the way home, but now it's not working. All the lights are on as normal but no number in the display and as I said, no timer when ignition is switched off. Anyone know why this would be happening? Where to start looking for faults etc? It seems strange that it has all the lights on but it's doing nothing... Any help much appreciated.. It's a razo timer by the way.. Cheers

I had an old friend who used to lead fill and silver solder things like that Sean. He would remove the rusted piece and then mould from the inside with modelling clay. Then either fill the void with lead or put a patch in and weld it. Just a thought but maybe you could do the same thing? The clay is perfect cos you can heat it to extremes without any damage so filling with lead is simple. Silver solder is also a good way to do it if you don't want to fabricate it.

Looks nice coopd.. Even colour coded huh! I need to get some alloy and make a bottom cover for mine as the K&N air filter is exposed to the elements at the moment.. Not so good in wetter weather.. Anyways, I got a package this morning from a very mice gentleman. It contained a used and quite tired looking three piece stainless slam panel cover. I had just enough time to work some magic in the two outer sections that sit behind the headlights. Forgot to take photos of the "before" but i got this picture of the after  Looking forward to dipping the centre section tomorrow and getting it on the car ready for the show in maldon on Sunday..

It could be a lot of things, it might have been flushed and left sitting a long time so the water and antifreeze have corroded it away whilst it's sitting.. When people flush their rads, they never seem to consider that the rusty crap that overflows is going straight on to metalwork below.. Rust causes more rust.. Test it for yourself.. Get a piece of mild steel amd put a drop of fresh water on one side and a drop of the brown water from your radiator.. See which one rusts fastest..

Lol.. They all look like that on the surface Joel, unless of course it's been repainted or undersealed. But most of the original paint is still there,it's solid and I haven't touched it to clean it yet.. It's certainly 100% better than reds one lol

Well, I just thought I'd let you know it was here, I've fitted it to my car and it's working fine in fact I don't think it's had a lot of use to be honest as the mesh is mint and no sign of dirt inside either.. If you change your mind it's up for £90 posted which is about £15 cheaper than any other used one I've come across

Lol! Getting there I see red! I've got a couple of photos for you mate but nothing really clear. Our recent summer weather had put the brakes on with stripping the car so couldn't really warrant getting soaked! Here's a couple of photos anyway.. It looks a little brown in places but it's all solid. Minor surface stuff really.

Cheers coopd, it's nice to get an opinion from someone in the know.. She's still very quiet but running a little lumpy as I think a tune up and aicv valve replacing is needed.. Just as shiny and rust free though

In your opinion coopd, what did you make of mine when you saw it at Japfest mate? Condition wise I mean, I understand some of the mods aren't to everyone's taste..

It's gonna be beautiful.. That is if I can prove the pros wrong and get the plenum done... If that goes pear shaped it's definitely gonna haunt me!

C'mon Andy, you know it'd be his legs! It's the donor car that's getting the hack not mine! Lol

Altia Rear Quarter Window Panels
Sharp blade to cut them out Chris and white spirit liquefies tiger seal.. I know the 3m stuff is good though, I've always used the tiger due to its holding ability. If it holds the spoiler on my car I'm sure the lights won't go anywhere! As the venom lights aren't bolted on at all, the sealant is the only thing holding them in place so I went hardcore with them..
