  1. What was it you were waiting for Darren?
  2. That's looking really nice hellraiser.. Just shows how clean a bay can look without all the over engineered crud in there.. Although in my head, someone's screaming "let me dip those timing and throttle covers" lol One day I'll get shot of the hicas etc.. But it'll stay there til it dies.. Although from what doctor dent is saying about my bhp when I get it back, I'm thinking hicas might get me in to more trouble than its worth! Easy on the throttle from here on in! Lol
  3. I see Funkysi is out of hibernation... Red wiper arms... Wtf?? Lolololol.. What happened to you at the maldon show Si? I drove all that way and was really looking forward to meeting you at long last and you didn't go??? Wtf???
  4. I'm thinking of gold carbon dipping these aswell but trying not to go over the top with it.. I planned on doing the black pillar between the door glass and the door shut in gold with the skulls, but i decided that would be too much.. I may do the roof and windscreen trim in red with gold carbon but I'm still undecided on what to do about that too.. Once she comes back from doctor dent, I'll make my mind up on wether to leave her as is or add a few more touches here and there.. I don't want to end up turning her from classy to tacky.. Once I've changed the rear interior quarters for the alcantara and got shot of the tweed seats for leather, I think I'm about done with putting my mark on her.. I think she looks sweet enough now.
  5. Oh well lads, that'll be another Z on the market soon then! Those wedding rings can really empty your garage ya know!
  6. You pair of plonkers.. I'm not leaving them like that lol.. Got to glass fibre them again yet.. Theres a lot more going in to these yet, that's just the stiffening coat to seal the wood from the top layers. I'm getting bored and anxious without my Z here so I'm finding things to occupy my time. I took the wipers off the scrapper today and went to town on them..
  7. No mate, it's end grain balsa wood.. It's used a lot in grp boat building.. They cut the end off of 2x2 balsa and glue it together in squares like a chequer board. Very light but very hard too. It's been coated in ultra fine glassfibre cloth and coated in crystal clear resin.. I know what you mean about it though, it looks like a butchers chopping block lol.
  8. That's a great bit of work there Chris, looks like something you bought! Well done mate. Started working on my new speaker installation for the front doors today.. Didn't have a lot of time but I cut the panels out and rounded the edges off, cut the hole to house the speaker on each panel and finally coated the two pieces in glass cloth and poly resin. Anyone that knows me, will know that my mod isn't going to be simply that, of course there'll be something unique about this project.. Here's a couple of photos of the progress so far..
  9. I saw yours there mogsy. Looking great mate, love the pearl paint..
  10. Now thats a day I hope will never come for me Lexx.. Sorry to hear you sold up..
  11. Well, today has been an emotional one.. I drove up to Shrewsbury with my best mate following in his celica and left the real love of my life with a great guy known to us all as doctor dent.. Spent a few hours getting to know Lee and a few other guys including Ian greenfield.. (I think) lol.. All the guys were really nice and felt very welcoming.. Today is the last day that my fairlady nostrils will be in her cocoon.. Felt sad to leave her behind but i know that when I go to bring her home, she'll be the butterfly I've always known she would be.. Miss those keys, miss looking out the window and seeing her there, but simply cannot wait to see the metamorphosis.. Iknow Lee will take great care of her and she'll be full of life again when she cones back to me... Thank you Lee..
  12. That looks absolutely stunning coopd.. You should be very proud of yourself for maintaining that car.. It's an amazing example mate
  13. I didn't realise you can get a loom that cheap? I was thinking it was going to be about £500.. Where are wiring specialities based?
  14. Those plugs you have in your hand look like the three that are usually held by the plate that fits to the side of the plenum and are secured by the balance bar nuts. I believe one goes towards the drivers side of the bulkhead and the other two plug in to connections along the inner wing somewhere.. I'll see if I can get a decent photo of mine to help identify them for you Just noticed Stephen reply! You sneaked that in whilst I weren't looking Stephen lol..
  15. Not sure what you mean Stephen. The cost of wire isnt that much in comparison to buying a ready made loom unless you use a second hand one which is more likely to have been subjected to the same conditions as the failed one. The plugs are around £12 each and the wiring will cost around £40 so about £120 total and a few hours work has to be worthwhile to improve the cars electrical reliability surely? In the grand scheme of things it'll be next to nothing spent in comparison to the bill I'm gonna be paying next week!
  16. I'm planning on making a new loom for the injectors and coils packs now. If I cut the loom near the bulkhead and build it back from there and at the same time install new plugs for the injectors and coils, it shouldn't be too difficult. Just solder and sleeve the new loom in to the old one. I don't think the break is a terrible one but then any break isn't good and no doubt others will be found or occur as a result of moving the loom around to repair it.. It's the beginning of one of those cursing periods I think!
  17. I'm assuming the lack of response that the wiring trouble is not something that a lot of people have had? I'm gonna make a new loom for the injectors I guess.. Anyway, took the balance bar off the plenum today and managed to split the hose to the brake vacuum unit. I've got a silicone replacement I think, so will install that when I put the balance tube back on. Finished spraying the balance tube and waiting got it to harden overnight before refitting tomorrow. Things are nearly all there and ready for doctor dent on Saturday when he begins the surgery beneath my bonnet. Getting quite excited now
  18. No problem.. You can always send it me and I'll sort it
  19. Made a discovery today.. My injector troubles were not the only problem..it seems I have a wiring fault on the main injector loom. The car started misfiring again today so I went to check the connection on the injector plug wasn't loose. It seemed fine but when I moved the wiring where the injector wiring enters the main engine loom, the car nearly stopped running.. It's looking like a new injector loom is gonna be needed. Might just make my own. Anyone else had any experience of this problem? Any advice??
  20. I'm a bit of a dab hand with fibreglass mate.. I can patch it from the rear and then resin fill. Invisible mend mate..
  21. Hey coop, that crack in your scuttle... I can fix that mate...
  22. Everyone's pas pot has three dents.. They're spot welds doofus! Lol.. And I'm sure you knew that already... I wouldn't fill the dent though,Funkysi would hate you for removing an oem feature... Lol
  23. Just finished spraying a few bits ready to dip them and found my spray bar for the hydro tank has gone breast skywards.. So, trip to the diy centre tomorrow for some much needed nozzles.. On the plus side, I got these done today though!
  24. Please mate, never mention the word Porsche here again... I have a strange tingling feeling when I hear or read that word.. The kind of feeling that makes me want to peel my own skin!! Urghhh!!!
