Bird has some in his garage/shed... by all accounts, he has at least one of every rare item for the Z32 in there!

I know where there's a pair for a SWB... I keep debating about getting them myself....

Gary, I drove from Bedford to Peterlee to buy this car, before I brought Purple Haze last year.

This car is a piece of crap, misfiring and knocking away, the only good thing about it was the quarter panel glass :-)

The garage owner was a slimy lying sack of s**t as well.

I'm not the only person who went to look at it then?

Did he tell you it needed new plugs.....?

I told him straight I'm just out of hospital, should not be driving and coming from miles away.

He said it's fine, running well, clean apart from some light paint work needed and the lump was sweet and reliable.

Utter sh**te, my bro who was with me wanted to rare up, they stitched me right up.

Plugs, the bearings were screaming when I looked at it, orrible car.

He told me they had a set of plugs on order as that's what it needed to cure the rough idle...

...I didn't have the heart to tell him about the enormous boost leak and the fact it was a bit of a pooch! Luckily, I just went to check it out, rather than with a view to actually buying it....

Bird's aren't for sale - nothing of his is ever for sale! I just said he had a pair, although I think they might be the even-rarer non-illuminated ones...

I got offered a set for a LWB from a guy in Australia last year he wanted £800 but even though they were brand new in the or wrappers I just couldn't justify the cost.

Half that price would make me walk away from them Ian.

I believe these are as rare as rocking horse s**t to find?

Thought i would ask if anyone knows where best to try and hunt them down, would love a pair of these but aint holding my breath....

Do bear in mind that your car has a green or blue tint - I don't believe you can get these in that tint, only bronze tint which will not look great as the rest of your car has green or blue-tint glass.

Birds are the illuminated ones, I know because I sold them to him after being badgered for years!

A wise word of caution from the funky one.

I hate agreeing with him but.........

+1.

You pretty much know where everything is for sale mate:biggrin:, Don't forget me if you know where you can get some JWT530's!!

As mentioned, they do come up from time to time on Yahoo auctions. Only ever for 2+2 however. Have only ever seen one legitimate pair to suit 2+0, and they're fitted to my car. Regarding the new pair that were for sale in Australia for 800, they used to be mine.... couldn't justify keeping them as I'd never actually fit them to any of my Z's. They've only ever been removed from packaging for testing and photographing purposes- worth every cent for those with the "what else can I possibly buy next" mentality.

.... that asking price wont hold a candle to the unopened set of factory roof racks I've got tucked away should I ever decide to part with them

Cool to have, but I wouldn't want to actual use them ever!

same- hence why unopened.

There's an increasing trend towards factory and Japanese manufacturer parts to distinguish one's Z from the pack. Altia sills and Veilside exhausts (for example) that once sat listed on Yahoo auctions for weeks now disappear within hours of listing, at significantly higher prices. Few years ago, would buy a Nismo or Impul 300km/hr cluster for AU$50, simply to make the freight costs a little more worthwhile.

Not too sure about the situation over in the UK, but its encouraging over here at least that, even though the value of the Z32 has not increased of late, the quality and diversity of parts is slowly increasing over the previous mainstream, mass produced "fiberglass bodykit and quick respray rebuild"

I for one am utterly glad that that era is coming to an end. Compared to 10 years ago when all manner of revolting body kits and tacky interior downgrades made for a pretty sore sight.

It was abominations like this which helped seal the downturn in public opinion on these cars.
