  1. I'll give you the best tip you'll ever get for removing scratches from glass... Hobrite.. It's a cleaner/Polish for glass top oven hobs and it'll take scratches out of the glass and Polish it to a mirror finish.. Give it a try on a test area and compare the difference, I think you'll be amazed!
  2. Chris, if you go on Google and search nissan 300zx engine bay you will get hundreds of images of 300 engine bays done up in different ways.. Have a look through them and you cam get an idea what works for you. My plenum is gold, rocker covers are body colour candy red, coil brackets body red, gold hard pipes with red silicone joiners, power steering pot gold, plenum balance tube body red and I'll be having the fan shroud done in red carbon along with the cam covers and the throttle cover.. When it's finished it should look lovely.. Only got the plenum and hard pipes done so far but as soon as everything's done, I'm off to get it all put together at once along with anything else that needs doing..
  3. Hey Chris, here's an example.. Couldn't give purple but it'll give you an idea.. Personally, I'd not go with the same colour on both the plenum and the rockers.. But it's you're choice mate.. Contrasting is the key me thinks.. I'd have the plenum or the rockers and contrast with something like chrome rockers under the purple plenum or vice versa.. Just think too much of the same colour laid over eachother will just make it PURPLE! In your face rather than allowing the purple to pop against something.. Again though, yours is the choice.. If you want the rockers and would like to choose a different colour for a plenum, I've got a plenum in my workshop going spare and I've a coaters up the road that are ace mate..
  4. Stuff the oem... It's been oem all this time Chris, if you like it, change it! What's under the bonnet isnt gonna change the outside is it? Powder coated plenum looks great and you can continue the detailing work with colour coded nuts and bolts, coil pack brackets, power steering pot etc, etc... It's your choice in the end mate but i love nothing more than to see a well dressed engine bay... I say go for it!
  5. Yup, plenum off for most jobs on this engine huh! I'm gonna keep an eye on the oil levels and try and hold off the job until my under bonnet dressings are ready for fitting. I'll be having the plenum changed for the gold one along with the red rocker covers etc and all the deletes too, I can get it all done in one hit. I'm tempted to do it myself but the thought of all those pipes under the plenum and the pita getting them on and off just says, take it to the pro's..
  6. ^^^ gasket sealant... I bloody hate auto corrective text!!!
  7. Possibly, but it might be the lower cover so as far as I'm aware they're just sealed with gadget sealant. The inner ones have a gasket I know, but fairly certain the outer ones don't..
  8. Went to get my bad weather car mot'd today and it passed! It started me thinking about the Z.. Mot due at the beginning of may, I figured I best get it checked over so I have time to source and save for any parts and labour it may need. As the spare car passed, I asked if the guy had time to check it over on a pre Mot. He had a free slot so I took the Z down and anxiously waited for the news... Just after I'd paced a small indentation in the concrete outside, smoked 20 cigarettes and rubbed my head a lot, the Mot guy announces, there's a couple of bits needing attention! Just as the disappointment began to drape over me, in his next breath he says but, if you don't mind losing the month or so I can print up a test pass as the pre Mot costs the same as the Mot.. He said that the rear upper passenger side suspension bush had a little play, the front driver side steering tie bar also had a little play and I have an oil leak on the driver side rocker cover... Other than that he said it was obviously a garaged car as it was one of the cleanest he'd ever tested! :w00t: All in all very happy.. Two Mot passes in one day? That's a record for me! So, time to order up some parts and book her in to get the oil leak sorted...
  9. I believe it's stock.. Might be wrong though. Im not too bothered if it's a bit hard cos my butt will soon soften it up. If not there's always leather conditioner that'll help soften it a little. I wear jogging bottoms half my life anyway so nothing there to rip it lol
  10. Don't know if my tweed is early or late. All I know is it's soon to be late... Bring forth the leather!
  11. I think I nearly put a new stain on the tweed reading that Chris! Lmfao... What can I say? I like to light up my world.. The wristband you see there doesn't glow, it's from the jae last year. A momento of the occasion that hasn't been moved since the day mainly because if it leaves the car and goes in the house, my Mrs will probably put it away never to be found again or bin it! Anyway, regardless of opinion, when I look through my windows at the red piping around my dash, I love it. Not to everyone's taste, but personally I'm glad I invested the £14 in the lights and will enjoy every illuminated second of it when it's completed..
  12. I wouldn't say peasantish Si, that would imply that I look down on people, however I have to say that I have been seriously looking forward to the day I remove the tweed from my interior! Also have say though, the tweed has always been extremely comfortable beneath my not so skinny butt.
  13. The man with the tweed seats that's picking his new leather ones up in March... :tt2: Bought the car for its condition, not it's interior! Tweed looks nice when new, not when old dirty and water stained unfortunately! Have to say though, why they ever thought tweed would be a good look for a sports car is beyond me!
  14. Lol Stephen, it's all about personal choice and I do understand that.. I'm not offended by what Si says, my reply to him was banter meant in a humorous way, so just as he isn't expecting me to take offence, I hope he doesn't either.. We're all different in what we like and if someone doesn't like something then that's all fine with me. I was pointing out however that even when opinion hadn't been asked, Si has always had a fairly negative stance on anything that makes my car different to oem. The bonnet vents, the gold against the red, the painted plastics, the mention of veilside bumpers etc etc, I think the only 2 positive comments he ever made about my car were the wheels and the velour! Lol.. I do believe someone said to return the favour and that he has thick skin? So, I did.. If I were offended by his comments and wished to pull out the shotgun of opinion, then believe me, I can and will give buckshot from both barrels! I prefer to keep a humoured sarcastic stance on things ie banter rather than take offence and become abusive on a forum.. Si has voiced his opinion, I have replied to it.. Not wishing to fall out with people I haven't met and don't know personally, I hope that Si sees the funny side of my reply and takes it on the chin in the same way the he expects me to.. Difference of opinion is a healthy thing.. I think si's car looks lovely even though I hate white cars and as I said in my comment, I totally respect the more oem followers choice. How boring would a car club become if everyones cars were the same though? The world needs the innovators and the lovers of the oem.. It's the main thing that keeps the club interesting.. Phutumsch for example, his innovation on lighting for the Z is extremely impressive and exciting for me and I'm glad he does what he does. I don't like every mod he's done but he gets total respect for daring to innovate and continuing to enhance the choices that we all have for our vehicles lighting. Mr noz for his commitment to making our cars perform better, Lee dent for his bodywork innovations etc. I don't like to see Z's lose their identity completely when the bodykit remove all traces of the original car, but detailing and bringing the car up to date with the times is a good thing. It just helps point out to the new school, that the old school can still sit proudly among them and even teach them some stuff about style and performance. I don't wish for any rows, or to offend anyone, but i do believe that if you give it out, you should also be prepared to take it back without being offended.. I believe that's a fair comment and stance.
  15. I find your comment about the 90's styling quite hilarious! It's a 1990 car!! I then take a glance at your recent photos of your interior and find you have a velour interior (90's) that reminded me of a pair of 80's corduroy trousers.. Si, I look back at every comment you ever made about my car and negativity is all I've ever had from you mate.. I'm not offended, I actually find it quite humorous.. I asked for opinion and knew you'd be the first to go in to meltdown lol.. My steering wheel came with the car and had never been fitted and because I work 65 hours a week and end up overdrawn at the end of each month on usual monthly living costs, I fitted that wheel through not having the money to pay for a momo or other extortionately overpriced circle of leather and alloy. It looks and feels better than the small planet sized wheel fitted as standard. I am not on the verge of retirement, nor stuck in the era that the car was produced. I dare to be different. I like to see my car sitting between the line of OEM cars and saying, hey, I'm different! A little like that giant half ball bearing sticking out of the centre of your steering column like a giant medallion on an eighties disco dancer in corduroy trousers.. The plastic trims are body colour yes, I painted them to coordinate the interior with the exterior but, as with every detail I've added to my car, I've bought the parts to change it to my own taste and kept all the original parts from the car in order that I can revert the car back to original whenever I choose to. So you and I have a completely different stance on what we like, this is normal and actually raises the corners of my mouth when I read these comments. The fact that I like 90's styling is probably down to the fact that I began driving in the 90's. 1995 to be exact for cars. The days when tron was a great film and funnily enough, when the 300zx was shining at its brightest. The aircraft cockpit style drivers instruments and the bucket sports seats.. The massively powerful and fast v6 twin turbo.. The car was made to be innovative, sleek and fast. I like those days... All my mods Si, they're cheap but effective and are there to please me, not the crowds.. If I had the money to burn, I would probably have you hyperventilating within a few months. However I just have to stick to small cheap and humble mods as that's all my pocket can afford.. One thing I'll never be is one that conforms with the OEM brigade. I respect their choice and totally understand the love of original. But when I come to the party, I'll be wearing the winkle pickers with spurs on and feel totally comfortable standing out from the crowds.. I do agree with one thing you said though.. You and I have totally different tastes, that is abundantly clear! Before I forget, I'm sure I've got a bag full of black corduroy jeans in the loft somewhere, I'll dig them out if you like so you can retrim the car to match the seats? Lmfao!!
  16. I'm admitting to nothing...
  17. Lmfao, you sir are far too observant!
  18. Well, got bored and decided to get back on the lighting project.. So now test fitted the neon wire round the dash and the tranny tunnel.. Haven't had a chance to test the look with them powered up, but I'm really... Really looking forward to seeing this all together and powered up.. I think it looks stunning and really compliments the interior.. Thoughts and criticism welcomed..
  19. Got busy again today and finished door card number two.. Then decided to start stripping back the paint from the spare rocker covers to prep them for coating. Officially sick of stripping paint now and can't get the last of it off cos there are areas unaccessible with the gear I have.. So I guess it'll be off to the shot blasters anyway! I'm coming to the conclusion also that my workshop is becoming rather crowded by Z bits... Must have a clean up very soon before I become trapped!
  20. Yes that's the plan Alic, I'll be running the lights round the dash and down the sides of the transmission tunnel too.. Might even put them in the rear quarters too
  21. Been busy tonight working on the new interior. The lighting is going very well indeed. Fitted up the doorcards with the lighting. Daytime it looks like red piping on the card and really sets off the lines of the cards. Night time though, it looks great.. Really can't wait to get the rest finished and all the wiring finished to see what it looks like when it's done. The tron look is coming...
  22. Not sure where you are in the country mate but if you want to plug it in and see if there's a problem then I've got the full conzult program here ready to go. I've also got the resistors here to cure the problem too if it is the knock sensor loom. Offers there mate, if it's any good for you then give me a shout.
  23. Have you got a code 34? That would indicate the knock sensor..
  24. Borrowed my neighbours karcher steamer and was pleasantly suprised at how much dirt came out of the interior.. It's not perfect but, it's damn close and looks much better than it did before. Waiting for new genuine trim clips from the Z centre before fitting the door cards and rear panels. Hopefully won't be long. Then just the leather to be fitted and the interior will be finished for now..
  25. I couldn't do that anyway Si, I work permanent nights mate :thumbup1:
