  1. Definitely avoid Ebay. I bought one for a previous Zed and when fitted the bonnet would not close because the bracket that mounts on top the strut was too high. I even removed the sound deadening trim to no avail. Even with just a front strut fitted the handling is much improved, sadly to fit the rear you have to cut the trim around the shock absorbers and of course on a 2+2 would then intrude into your luggage space.
  2. One of the places people overlook is the intercoolers down the front, they can get damaged, or corroded or just perished pipework.
  3. I think they are about £120 but one of the Nissan saloons also fits and is a lot cheaper. As regards to fitting it depends on whether an auto or a manual, as the manual is a bit of a pig to fit.
  4. I think it depends on if you have also done a top end bypass, i.e., cut out all them pipes under the plenum. On my last Zed it warmed up in about 3 minutes, until I did the bypass and then it took about 10 minutes.
  5. No it did not which is pretty lucky I say.
  6. Yep, I would be interested.
  7. Well, having had the bad news about the knocking being a big end and the conrod was furbarred to boot, well Jimmer would not re-use it, things are looking up. He also found an absolute wrecked piston which really did not matter as I had already bought Wiseco's anyway, but I am hopeful for some improvement in general performance and running. There was a lot found to be wrong with it when it was being stripped which gives me great hope about its perfomance when it is back on the road. Here are some progress pics so far with very greatful thanks to my son Jimmer for his much appreciated time and expertise. I would have ended up selling it as a kit car. Thats my engine he is working on in the pics. :hyper:
  8. Thanks chaps, that's just what I need.
  9. I know this has been asked many times before but I require a courier to collect some turbos from someone in Essex and deliver to Bristol, which would hopefully be cheaper than Royal Mail. Any suggestions are welcome.
  10. My car is fitted with Advans (see my rides) and 265 looked too narrow for the rim. Mine are fitted with 285's and can rub if cornering really hard. If you have rolled arches, I would not think you would get any probs at all. By the way. the 285's will give you better rim protection.
  11. I think this all comes down to whether the park is displaying any notices indicating that it is 'Private Property', and to be used by 'Members Only'. Without that I think ypou may be on sticky ground.
  12. Just tried as well Si, and got the same message. They are probably doing a software upgrade or something.
  13. Anyone that works on these cars at sometime or other is going to upset someone, it's the nature of the vehicle and also down to personallities, both of the customer and the repairer. If they were straight forward people would either do it themselves or use Halfords. As a club we don't now have a forum garage, I wonder why ? I really admire anyone who puts their neck on the line to do work on these cars, and charge for it especially as some people can barely afford to run them let alone maintain them properly.
  14. And more ! Which garage would you want to own.. :)
  15. I must do the Lottery this weekend, something has spurred me on.
  16. David, I still cannot work out why you broke the black Zed, it looks stunning. Was it a Jap or a UK model. John
  17. Hi Dave, I went Sunday and it was not really that good. Some nice cars there, i.e., 'E' types especially, some for sale including a V12 manual, which is rare, that had been totally restored at a cost of £25K and that was what the guy wanted for it. A cheap car that. Everything was mundane really. A bit dissappointed on the spares thingy too, I wanted various sizes of water hose pipe and some silicone piping, and came away with noting. There was no silicone pipe at all and the only heater pipe available was marked 'fuel pipe' and the seller assured me it would be OK. When I asked about temperature he replied 'no probs at all, its tested to 1400 degrees'. I did not bother to ask if that was 'C' or 'F', and just left it anyway. The best car in the show I reckon was an immaculately restored Jensen Interceptor, which really was an eyeful, but with all the ropes and signs around it, the camera stayed in its bag. Weather was excellent and a large pastie (£3.80) went down well. Not one Zed in the car park.
  18. Unless you are talking about reclaiming a shed load of money, they will not be interested as they take a percentage for their services. They are more interested in doing it for businesses who pay a lot of charges.
  19. I used to have a massive coin collection of over a 1000 of British coins dating back to George lll. They were all kept in a safe which was bolted to the wall behind. It consisted of early Victorian silver, shillings, sixpences, half crowns and two bobs, pennis and farthings, silver threepenny bits and some crowns. I thought they were valuable, that was why I kept them in a safe. When I moved house about 5 years ago, I had them valued to sell. £180 all in. I put them in the paper and sold them as a complete lot for £250. I have a huge stamp collection as well, which is probably similarly priced but cannot be arsed to sort them out to sell. You might get enough for a set of dust caps for them off Ebay, not the postage as well tho'.
  20. Have you been spying on me, your right tho', the grandchildren love it. Theo who is 6 lies on the floor alongside it looking at his reflection in the gleaming black paintwork and of course when they want the pants scared off them, they can asked uncle Jimmer to take them for a spin in his, and it is a spin too. He's bit of a doughnut king. :)
  21. I think we should try and get a mod done to the zed like they started putting on BMW's where in town it would cut out some of the cylinders to save fuel. If you could switch that in and out I reckon you would get 40 mpg. (I wish)
  22. I can't work out what the last car is....no wheels on the back.
  23. http://www.gillesvidal.com/blogpano/cockpit1.htm If you get rid of the popup and left click your mouse and hold down, then move your mouse and you can tour the cockpit.

You people make me sick. Why don't you get a proper job like the rest of us, INSIDE.
