Sidelight/Inicator Query....Series3??
My indicators did this (stayed on permanently, until indicator stalk was used and then they would flash in the correct direction) and the MOT tester failed it as: Nearside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e) Offside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e) I had to re-wired them so they weren't orange all the time and he passed it

Uk Z sale
Im sure that black car is the one I went to view a few months ago in west sussex. It was imported into the uk 11 years ago, but was never registered for some reason. It was in pretty good nick, had a misfire and smoked a lot, but it hadn't been started for years. I made him an offer, but he said the wife of the guy that owned it (he died and she was selling all his cars) was sending it to a charity to turn it into a track day car. It had done 40k KM or something really low. it just needed registering, an mot and the misfire sorting. The engine bay was spotless. He was selling a red one at the same time, I saw that one too, it had gone very very pink

That's the one! I went to Nissan today and after explaining to the spotty 12 year old at the spares department what a 300zx was I was finally told the pipe is only in Japan, no stock in Amsterdam, and will cost £48 + vat l, could be up to 6 weeks to arrive too. I have the part number so will search the internet, see if I can get it cheaper.

Happily driving home at midnight after work the other day and just happened to check my o/s mirror as at the same time the glass fell out! I watched and heard it bang down the side of the car! Nissans really like doing the unexpected, I should know this after 3 years of ownership really... On another note, my black one is sulking. I used the red one for 8 days to run it in and get used to it, then used the black one for 2 days, on the 2nd night it split a pipe on the back of the engine and dumped all its coolant (People may remember my trip to Europe last year...). Luckily I was less than a mile from home, so nursed it home and next day got my tame mechanic to look at it. Its fine, just needs a new hose, however apparently the hose is shaped like a double-S and weaves its way around the back of the engine, so I need to get one from Nissan as he cant supply it. I think ill have to use the black one more, just to make it feel more loved.... Is this the same with kids?!

Any current MOT testers here?
or 30mph and a wall  The wifes TT has an engine warning light due to a failing o2 sensor, that was an advise. My old audi 80 coupe had an abs light and that was a fail.

The wheels and the front spoiler are going but not yet as funds are limited! I changed the fuse, lights worked normally until I drove away and it blow the fuse again. I'm guessing some kinda of short somewhere?

Seat belt has been changed, fuse changed and radio mounted properly! Three ticked off the list! Thank you for the tip on the fuse!

New Zed
So after the disappointment of failing to fix my first red zed, I came across one on ebay a while back. After a bit of haggling, I was the proud owner of a rusty, smoking red zed! First thing was get it welded, My welding friend is a wiz, so he spend 3 weeks welding it up, making sure it was perfect. He has worked on these cars before, so knew exactly what to cut out and repair, he then waxed it, oiled it, protected it, etc. As long as I am careful, it should be good for many years he said! Next bit was getting it to quit smoking, as a smoker myself this is not easy! After buying several 50g bags during a Spanish holiday, I set to work. The block was fine, the heads were fine, but the turbos were trashed. Bent and missing blades, oil running everywhere. Two re-furbed turbos later and the car had virgin lungs, something I haven't had in years. There is still a list to go: front passenger seatbelt doesn't like to retract, front bumper needs changing, wheels need changing, headlights stuck on full beam, passenger door isn't hung right (it clips the body when shutting), driver door lock just spins and spins, central locking doesn't work, but alarm and immobiliser work when ever it feels like it! But it has an MOT and I can drive it to work with a big grin! As you can see I have a long list of things to plug away at and keep me out of trouble for the winter! Enough writing now, I can hear you all screaming "where are the pictures, damn you!" so without further ado... and finally I have my two car garage!

Over fueling , bogging down under load
Before I fixed it, one of my coil pack pig tails was loose as hte clip was broken, over 6000rpm the engine used to shake the plug off and it would be a V5 and run really badly. I used to have to get out, lift the bonnet and push the plug in. I didnt go over 6000rpm very often, so wasnt too bad, but i did fix it. Might not be your problem, but give all the plugs a wiggy just incase

Lancaster Insurance - A Warning
I was with Lancaster insurance for one year, they sent me the renewal letter, so I rang them up to barter with them a bit and when i told them it was a 300zx, they said sorry we dont cover that car! I said you do as ive just been covered for the passed year! They said they had changed what cars they covered and they wouldnt cover me. she then said "is there anything else I can help you with?" I rang up footman james and havent looked back since. I have a classic 5000 mile policy with drive to work added, its got an agreed valuation and if the car is written off, they give it back to me for free. I can do the occasional track day too, all for £261/year... bargin!

The Grumpy Old Men Thread
People who moan that others are not old enough to moan about things. For the record, I am 32 and feel I have enough to moan about. I may not have 50+ years, but I have 30+....
