  1. content filler because there is no gossip from the royals at the moment...
  2. Its a good idea for people that have a good scuttle, but the one on my black car has disintegrated and had to go in the bin and the one of the red car has started to turn white and brittle. If we made moulds could we take them to a plastic forming/pouring company to make just normal plastic ones? Is that even possible, I have no idea about the manufacturing processes involved...
  3. thats a shame. I wonder if there is another way to do this?
  4. And it looks like its sticking its tongue out at everyone you pass...
  5. My father and I are driving up in his MX5 on the saturday, so I can swing by the stand if anyone is around?
  6. Having seen the terrible driving around the Eastbourne area (especially aimed towards large vehicles and buses) I have come to the conclusion that: 1) No one reads the highway code after they pass. The book is revised every few years and changes are added but people dont have a clue whats changed! 2) People feel they are entitled and invincible behind the wheel, bad habits are abound and w**kers rule the roads! I think that there should be a full 100 question (like all professional drivers have to do) theory test to be completed every five years. The photocard is valid for 10 years so you have to do a theory when you get your license, another 5 years later and then another when you have to update your photocard. This would mean people are reading the book at least every 5 years and learning the changes, keeping up to date. The practical should be 2 hours of proper, important driving. No silly "lets follow the sat nav for half of the test time", If you cant go round a roundabout without using indicators or give way when the obstruction is on your side of the road, then what help is a satnav? The practical test should be redone every 10 years to help prevent bad habits. So when your photo card needs reviewing, you need a theory pass certificate, a practical pass certificate and an application form/fee. This would mean people are up to date on the highway code and ideally they would not have too many bad habits. I also think that van drivers such as DPD etc and taxi drivers should have CPC qualifications. Bus and lorry drivers need them, why shouldn't taxis and vans. They are driving for as long if not longer and they don't have to take legal breaks from driving etc. Some cases they work longer than we do. Road rage and/or rude gestures should be fine-able and point-able offence like Germany. If your car is caught on camera being rude then registered owner should be forced to pay a fine and 3 points (like a speeding ticket), no if or buts. Rudeness has no place in society. One last thing is that as I passed after 1997, I am limited to driving nothing larger than a 3.5 ton van. however I am allowed to drive a 21ton double decker with 101 people on it... I have a manual bus license, why cant I drive a manual truck up to 21 ton? its madness.
  7. My black zed has a dashcam wired into the back of the stereo, the red zed has a dashcam wired into the fuse box. I share driving both cars, but use the black one 2/3 of the time. I have to disconnect the dash cam on the red one if I'm not going to use it for anything 6 days or more. On the times I forget (and I do!) to unplug the dash cam, the car will be completely flat, I jump it with a pack I have and drive the 1.7 miles to work. After that it starts every time. I try not to let it happen too much, because ill kill the battery! Im taking the red car this morning actually, but I did remember to unplug the cam this time! *win* Trickle chargers are great, both my dad and friend use them. Dads MX5 will be locked away for 3-6 months charging away, when he comes back and drives it, it always starts first time. his was 20 quid from halfords I believe.
  8. Welcome! Where are you in Germany? I might be spending most of next year in Frankfurt for training, I was planning on taking my Z so maybe a meet up might be good?
  9. Be careful; it will be up side down as well...
  10. I'm sorry I didn't make it, I set my alarm and slept straight through it. It was 09:15 when I woke up :crying:
  11. poor thing only wanted to brush its teeth...
  12. Mine has developed a smoking issue, it is old enough. I think this will be its last outing for a while...
  13. I completely agree with you! I am currently on holiday (hence the reason I am clogging up the forum with diatribes!) for 20 days and I am waiting for confirmation of a career change, Hopefully leaving the bus industry and dealing with the public all together!
  14. I'm not keen to put my home down, I am proud to be British, I am proud to live here and want only the best for me, my children(to-be), my wife(who is 2/3 of the 7 year process to becoming British) and my country. However, I feel that after having the rare chance of living abroad for 10 years in a communist dictatorship, when people say "the EU is a dictatorship", its really not. A dictatorship is one party rule, its when internet is monitored and you get the police knocking on your door at 2am because you were googling the Fulonggong, its banning foreigners from buying property or cars, its disappearing your own populace because they wrote any combination of the numbers 4.6.89, its killing people who stand up to your regime. Britain is a nice place, its lovely to drive around and we are blessed to have areas that look like so many other parts of the world, all squashed into this island. Sure there are bad parts, there are good parts. What I am trying to get at is the culture of this country, the social element, the human material of this country has been destroyed. The masses have become idiot-tised (not a word i know!) to only care about themselves, only think about how people view them on social media, to sharing memes with ridiculous selfish one liners (maybe two if the attention span is there). Kids are having social problems, failing to make face to face communication and even committing suicide due to bullying because of how things are perceived online. News doesn't come from well informed news outlets any more, its comes from AI news feeds that are designed to delete threads they see you don't read and only include news you click on to the point where news is so narrowed and bias people cant make educated decisions anymore, take the referendum for one. Try it on your android news feed, click a news feed you would never ever read normally (I choose a Rachel Riley article, within a Strictly Come Dancing thread) and you will see it learns you are interested in that and before you know it, your news thread is full of related stories. We are blinkered into reading these targeted feeds until we have nothing to compare news to and it seems the majority cant/wont be bothered to research topics themselves. We become very black or white and end up trolling anyone on the internet that doesn't fit into our small, close minded box. We have become a nation addicted to alcohol and cant seem to do anything fun with out it. Look at our streets early on a Sunday morning. People ask where our tax money goes, it goes on rebuilding bus shelters, sweeping up litter, clearing up glass and repairing people in hospitals. I didn't see trouble when I lived abroad related to alcohol, it was only a certain nationality of expat who fought when drunk. How many times have aeroplanes been caught by "Brits on Holiday". Further more look at driving, I drive buses for a living, I do about 30K miles a year which is quite a bit, i'm on the road for 7-10 hours per day and the abuse I receive is amazing, the abuse I see between other road users is amazing. We are a nation of middle fingers, w**ker signs, tail gaters and inconsiderate, downright dangerous driving. All because we have to get 1 more car in front? We have no respect for anyone anymore, we dont treat anyone the way we wish to be treated anymore. I hate it when people say "I tell it like it is", NO, you are being loud mouthed and rude, furthermore, if someone said that to you, you would hit them. People are too quick to give it out, but when it comes to receiving it... Going back to your point, I'm not keen to put my country down, I love my country, I love our proud history, but that is the key word; History. We are not a proud country anymore, we, the brits have ruined ourselves, our international image, our credibility socially and politically. It has to change, the social material of this country has to improve, the educational level has to improve, the "free-time-im-going-to-read-about-a-subject-to-get-an-unbias-view" level has to improve otherwise we are going to implode and Britain will be even closer to Black Mirror - Nose Dive (S3E1) episode (check it out, its a good watch!) All my views here are not targeted at anyone, its my feelings on what seems the majority, I'm sure there are many people like us here that are caring, respectful and want things to improve, its just difficult to not become cynical when you get spat at and threaten with a knife for saying "can I see your ticket please"
  15. I thought, they were supposed to look like that! :tt2:
  16. I agree with funkysi, The British populace should never have had this vote (It should never have been discussed anyway), There is nothing special about our island, we deserve no more than any other European country on our shores. If anything, they are better than us, When have you ever seen motorway in France queuing? When have you seen towns in Germany covered in rubbish and litter? Police cuts in Belgium? Governments with no money in Scandinavia? We should accept the fact that we are a small island on the edge of the Atlantic that still suffers from ideals of grandeur to a lost empire and a history starting nearly 100 years ago. The problem isn't the EU, the problem is our politicians and our view of our countries politics. The referendum was used to get rid of David Cameron, the public mis-understood what a referendum is and treated it like an election because they were sick of him. The media played a big part in "Fake News" because they saw the pound signs and lets face it are as un-biased as Kim Jong Un The EU are our family, our brothers and sisters. When your family is in trouble, do you cut and run? Do you say "right, I'm off. I might see you around, by the way before I leave ill need that money back"? We should be doing what we would all do with our family, sticking around, putting heads together and saying: "The EU is struggling, throwing money at it is not working, how can we fix this?". i was always taught to face your problems and not run away. If this was a war, this would be considered a surrender and I bet the Daily Mail would have a thing or to to say about that! The only thing affecting this "No or No Deal" thing now are peoples egos, our politicians are afraid to stop it because it will split the Tory party again, The lib dems are pretty much useless after the coalition and Labour seem wrapped up in racism. It all comes down to pride and it always has with our politicians, they are too afraid to admit they were wrong and they are willing to destroy everything. The EU (to me at least) has be trying to find a middle ground, sure they dig their heels in sometimes, but if you are at a market haggling for apples, you will haggle back just for the hell of it! Remember, we are the ones leaving, we are the ones that will have to deal with them, they will always have the upper hand. They will replace us with another country that isn't an island, a country who wants to be in the EU, isn't as xenophobic to the idea of moving to another country, doesn't use another currency and isn't full of a population that goes horse racing to kick someone else's head in. We can form bonds with other countries as the leavers keep stating, but do you want to be in the USA pocket again? 1945-2005 we were paying off the debt for WWII and look what we got dragged into, no thank you. Canada, ex-empire, sure they can trade with us, but they have the 2nd largest economy on their border that makes everything, not to mention the 2nd largest factory (Mexico) a stone throw away and even closer when the Pan-American Highway is completed. Same goes for south america. Asia has China AND Japan, so no point there and Australia is on China door step. Why buy things from us that are more expensive and take 3 months on a ship, when China produce is cheaper and take 3 weeks. Not to mention most of Australia natural resources go to China to make stuff, so they get even better deals. We don't have rare metals, gold, silver, bauxite or iron ore. Even if we did its too expensive to mine and we cant make trains run with people on, let alone goods... All we have is Europe, its on our doorstep, its 12 miles away. Its 90 mins on a ship, 30 mins on a train. Why walk to the fish & chip shop on the other side of the city, when you live next to one that sells good food cheaply?! We should swallow our pride, go cap in hand to the EU and say "Sorry, we messed up. We would like to join fully this time, but like Germany, we want a leadership role to help improve the EU to the next level.". We then change the political system so that the MEPs are included in votes and therefore we get to vote on EU ideals. The pound is now ruined and will never bounce back, so accept the Euro. its 1:1 now (a few select few made money off that, but that's a story for another day) so inflation wont be a problem (unlike when Italy joined) and we wont loose out on currency exchange deals or trade deals. We follow all the EU rules by the book anyway, so nothing new will be sprung on us and rather than writing a whole new law book like we will have to if we leave, we can metaphorically cross out "British" and write "European Law" on the cover, saving more public money... This post will anger quite a few of you, some will not understand, other might think I'm brainwashed and stupid. So be it, we are all different and it helps keep this world interesting. I don't mock others for their views, I'm just trying to put my point across as its my view and if we understand each other views, acceptance and understand will dissolve hate and distrust. One day there will be peace and love!:angel:
  17. Ill be at Sainsburys at 6am and we can convoy it up
  18. You mean parcel delivery vans, mentioning no names....*cough* DPD...
  19. They emailed me last night and sent me this, so I guess Im in too!
  20. I agree, especially running out with a customer in the car! I keep mine between 1/2 and 1/3 as that isn't very far in ZX. In my mind its enough to stop crude in the tank being sucked up, but low enough so that it cant go far if stolen. Also on the rare occasion I do have to fill the tank, I can marvel at the needle on "F" and enjoy burning all those hydrocarbons!
  21. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-nissan-z-sports-car-spawn-475bhp-v6-nismo-model https://uk.motor1.com/news/265196/nissan-confirms-new-z-car/ Somewhere is says that Nissan is working with Mercedes, so I suspect the new Z car will be a merc underneath. Might stop them rusting
  22. Some dealers and enthusiasts leave a little in the tank so that if its stolen, it has to be driven to a petrol station and appear on camera. More chance of it being tracked down. It is preventative towards lower skilled thieves and opportunistic thieves. It wont stop someone who has planned to steal it, but every little helps.
  23. I think mine is just to visit and look. I was just trying to add my car for the future
