  1. Its to do with the calipers being behind the wheel instead of infront of it as it would be on a z. Different size pistons dictate its orientation
  2. Unfortunately there are many "classic car restoration" people about that are just time wasters and happily quote big bucks to do a very poor job. Its hard enough to find decent bodyshops for modern cars let alone classic ones. It takes time and skill to do a proper job like cutting out all the corroded metal and fabricating new panels to weld in. Then you have the job of painting and protecting the work after which is not easy to do correctly. Poorly tack welding bits of scrap metal over a rotten piece of metal is just pointless whatever it costs. If and when you find a bodywork company that does a proper job stick with them whatever the cost. If funds are tight just wait and save the money to do it right so it lasts and yields many years of satisfaction, dont just blow it over because it was a cheap quote and be back facing the same problems in short time.
  3. Nobody is mocking, but those patches over the arch have been placed over a corroded inner arch, you can see this in the pics.
  4. It does appear that the bulk of the corrosion has been left in. It wont last long at all. Especially the arch repair.
  5. Why is there a plate welded across the bottom of the wing to the sill?
  6. That is exactly the reply i expected you to receive. If you have a cert of export i cant see why danish authorities cant register your car. Bringing the car to the uk and registering it only to export it again would be financially unviable.
  7. Let me know if i can help here in the uk [emoji106]
  8. Thats where the mistake was made. The uk owner probably returned the V5C to the DVLA saying it had been exported. Correspondence with the DVLA via letter or Email is probably your best option. Phone calls are pointless trust me. As the DVLA record shows it has been permanently exported they may not help at all unfortunately.
  9. When you sell a car to someone who takes it to Europe YOU aren’t exporting it, you must give the new owner the whole V5C so they can register it in their country and you notify the DVLA via a letter. The last uk owner of the Z in question should have passed the whole V5C to the chap who bought the car from Denmark (if the uk owner didn’t take the car their himself). I sold 2 Mazda RX7’s last year to a chap from Belgium and gave him the V5C for both cars and he registered them no problem, I notified the DVLA via a letter and received confirmation I was no longer the registered keeper.
  10. That’s what I said, if YOU PERSONALLY are taking the vehicle abroad you fill out the Relavant V5C section and return it to 5he DVLA, but if you sell it to someone who takes it out of the uk you give them the whole V5C and notify the DVLA by letter.
  11. If you sell a vehicle to someone who is taking the vehicle out of the uk permanently you do not send the v5c to DVLA you give it to the new owner with the car and inform the DVLA via a letter stating what has happened. You only fill out and send th v5c to the DVLA if YOU personally export the vehicle.
  12. If you have sva cert then the rules dont apply to you so mph only is fine. Satnav is not acceptable as a speedo
  13. I would leave the clocks untouched and fit a switch which can be removed without damage and say that it switches from MPH to KMH. They cant test the function so must pass it. Job done.
  14. Does your Z have a SVA (single vehicle application) or IVA (individual vehicle application) cert? Some imports get these on arrival.
  15. Gary. NI mot regs state that mph and kmh may be displayed simultaneously or separately via the operation of a switch so you could fit a switch to operate the head as both mph and kph. Again it states if the tester is unsure of how to switch between the two modes he MUST pass and advise. MPH must be the default displayed in this situation. Go on NI direct mate its all written there. Dont be fooled by testers who are not doing their job correctly. Know the facts and go to the test armed with them.
  16. Netflix.........yeah right. [emoji23]
  17. That makes the complete pair with all the fittings for £140 a proper bargain then. [emoji16]
  18. But you wouldnt pay anywhere near £200 for it though.
  19. Very overpriced and incomplete with no rear housing.
  20. Ooooh! The upside down model aswell! Very clever these Lexus Motors.
  21. 10 months? Its garaged over the winter to prolong its life and condition. Its the best way to own a car of this type IMO.
  22. I won't be there tomorrow. The Z is still in hibernation in the garage since before xmas. MOT ran out in feb and the weather is still to unpredictable to bring her out yet. Really looking forward to the first drive of the year! Have fun everyone that is going and post plenty of pics.
  23. Cigarette lighter sockets have always been hit and miss and often people wiggle the plug and blow the fuse, which means their satnav is now dead and due to the fact people have no ability to find their way around anymore end up stuck somewhere forever....... We replace alot of cigarette lighter sockets for twin USB ports now which is pretty much the standard now for most electronics. A cigarette lighter socket somehwere in the boot can still be useful for 12v outputs for things like tyre compressors and the like.
