  1. South mimms?
  2. Running a car in ireland years ago when the punt was in fashion was cheap. Fuel was cheap, no mot etc. Those days are long gone. £1495 is simply extortion!
  3. These i use alot on cars. They are crimped with a ratchet crimp tool then heatshrunk to form a watertight seal as there is a resin inside. Very quick and easy.
  4. These are very good connectors. You slip it over one wire then twist the conductors together along the length then slip the connector back across the joint aligning that ring of solder across the bare conductors. Then warm it with a heat gun and the solder ring melts to make the connection and the sleeve shrinks and the 2 red rings make a perfect seal around the insulation of the cable.
  5. Both ways require proper execution as solder or crimp can fail if not done correctly. But lets face it our cars dont fly and dont compete in hard enough racing to worry about a joint failing. This started off with scotchlocks anyway which arent a crimp type connector. They are just rubbish. I will continue to trust in my soldered joints where i use them. If ever i have to fit a cat1 alarm to a lemans car or an Apache i will bear the crimp in mind.
  6. Yeah when did you last see a fog light hanging from the elevator on a A380?
  7. No problem craig. They dont enforce the year thing as last year there were much newer cars there than that. If we get an official list going i will deal with the organisers. A club banner would be nice to have aslo.
  8. I can do if there is enough interest. Club stand tickets are £10 per car and we can have a separate stand or £5 per car gets you a space anywhere amongst all the cars. Let me know what people think. I can get the passes as im only 10 mins from the venue.
  9. Hopefully the mrs Won't get a migraine this year Russ [emoji38]
  10. X Files tonight. Maybe the truth will be revealed......
  11. Not using the car in the poor weather is always the best option. But if thats not possible then i would say that if the underside is properly protected with high quality products then the surface salt shouldnt do that much to corrode things. I doubt that pressure washing the chassis is of much benefit as the water your forcing into areas it wouldnt naturally get to will do more harm long term than the surface salts your trying to remove. The majority of cars will now most likely be corroded enough for a little surface salt to make sod all difference anyway. Get a cheap run around for the winter and keep the lady for the sunshine [emoji6]
  12. And to add further. Coat on top of coat on top of coat of underseal is pointless. Its all about the right product used in the right way in the right places.
  13. Personally i wouldnt pressure wash the chassis. You risk directing water at places it wouldnt naturally get to. I have the misfortune of being under many a car thats just driven in the rain and its quite surprising how dry the actual chassis can be. And i wouldnt attempt an underseal job until the height of summer. You want nice dry warm weather and the car to have been dry for a few weeks before you seal her up.
  14. How you been trying to get hold of me mate? I think i would ditch the remote filter setup as the old tranny might not have the ability to pass fluid through the filter and extra pipework. Just run a dedicated cooler upfront mate. Or better still FIT A MANUAL! [emoji6]
  15. Russ! Thought you had been abducted and probed by aliens or something.
  16. I would say that depends on the particular job in hand taking into account things like... Cable size and type Current Environment etc Scotch locks arent crimp type which is why they are complete tat.
  17. I hate those scotch locks, traced many electrical faults back to those. I never use them. Solder and heat shrink or heat shrink butt connectors with resin inside are very good inside and out.
  18. If it's not a good match he could just fit a cup holder [emoji38]
  19. Exactly what i did. Tee'd off the hallway radiator and through into garage. Works a treat.
  20. People that can't afford to run the car they own......
  21. Twinings I hope and not some Lidl or Aldi crap.
  22. He's not often wrong though........
  23. This method of labelling tyres IS totally pointless as the manufacturer self certifies its own products. Granted the testing is carried out inline with EU legislation but that leaves alot of factors that can be decided by the manufacturer. A Linglong tyre may receive an A rating for wet grip when tested by Shangdong Linglong but may receive an E rating if tested by Michelin. See my point here? For any comparison test to yield accurate reliable results ALL test methods must be equal. The labelling system at best is a general guide for the average consumer. There is NO argument that a cheaper lower priced product can in any way compare to a better one. I had a Snapon mig welder at home which you would imagine to be a decent welder.....where was it made? The PRC, it was useless compared to the £1200 new one i have just bought. Everyone must buy what they feel happy with and if your happy with cheap LOW quality rubber then fill ya boots, but dont compare something like a LongDong to a Michelin.
