  1. I wouldn't have sanded personally. What's underneath is a silver plating, the discolouration you see there as Andrew said is a factory coating to protect against corrosion. Polishing would have removed this although I took mine out completely and had them stripped and re-plated (along with everything else) I did not apply any additional coating and they stayed looking fresh.
  2. Unless you're a track slag, I don't really see the appeal in a slicktop. I mean, I don't dislike them, but having a glass roof/targas is definitely part of the appeal. Driving through Route Napoleon in southern France for example, the last car I'd want would be a fixed roof car. The experience is so much more of an event if you're totally open to the elements and the landscape.
  3. Time for some matching quality tyres! ?
  4. I too would also think about those turbos. Even if you have to wait because cash is tight, I would leave them to the professionals to get them rebuilt and balanced. History as taught us that trying to do things on the cheap has ended in tears. I'd hate for you to go through yet another rebuild because a turbo went AWOL. Do check those injectors too before wasting money and time sending them off as per Jimmer's recommendation. If they're redrills (they have a high probability of being as genuine new 740cc NISMO injectors have a very low failure rate), chuck them before wasting time getting them flow checked. Get the magnifying glass out and take some photos of the injector tips.
  5. Send it to the powdercoaters. ?
  6. Looks lovely! Not keen on the front end though, but the rest looks lovely - do like a freshly painted car! ?
  7. I personally wouldn't bother with doing the bulb swap for the dash clusters, they look crap with LEDs in them and you lose the dimmer function. I ended up going back to incandescent bulbs as they looked so much nicer.
  8. Work from home here, no real change other than overseas and UK travel has been suspended by my company. I feel so sorry for the folks caught up with their businesses who are being affected by the measures.; it's truly heartbreaking. I stayed at a hotel near Leamington Spa earlier in the week and it was deserted, all the staff there still trying to work not knowing their future; it almost brought me to tears. I do wonder, especially if you look at Italy and France at the moment whether these stringent new measures are going to destroy more lives than those which they're trying to save.
  9. Hope someone from the club buys it and removes all the tat. Could be really nice with all the stickers and stick on stuff taken off and the nose panel and bonnet returned to something resembling a 300zx.
  10. Whichever dials you go for, make sure you get them for the centre console below the radio in a DIN panel. A-pillar gauges look dreadful IMO.
  11. Lovely car, dreadful pre-sale prep for a Sothebys auction; that engine bay is filthy as is the all the dirt around the clock and centre console. It's normal for high calibre examples to be highly detailed before going to the Sotheby's Amelia Island auctions.
  12. I think now would be a good time to think about replacing all your injectors. Once one goes, the rest will follow suit. The original pintle style injectors are notorious for failure. A worthy upgrade to the newer style pinteless or indeed upgraded still further to a higher flow rate injector if you ever intend on increasing boost levels. Always buy from a known source also. A good way to futureproof/add reliability.
  13. Go with NISMO bushes. Avoid ALL rose jointed /MIDORI style suspension links at ALL cost. They're dreadful, I can't emphasise that enough.
  14. They're very different products, I'd use both..... although I wouldn't actually use Waxoil as there are better products out there like Dinitrol. Inject all the box sections, inner flitches, seams etc with Dinitrol. Paint any exposed under chassis panels with Hammerite.
  15. You could not be dealing with a better person and your Z could not be going to a better place Mike.
  16. RIP Mike. I think he'd been ill for a number of years.
  17. Driving though France, Monaco and Italy and then boarding a ferry with it that was heading to North Africa.....and then selling it when I returned to make way for an Aston Martin. 15 years of (mostly) fond memories with a send-off tour of Western Europe.
  18. As above. Used harnesses are a waste of time.
  19. Yes, they'll fit, however offset is a little weak, especially at the front, I'd add 5mm spacers to the rear and 20mm to the front (for appearance and caliper clearance). Whilst the wheels you're looking at are quite complimentary to the original design, DARE wheels are very cheap cast wheels; when you can buy an entire set for around the £500 mark, you need to question the quality, they're probably made of cheese.
  20. No tree in my house. Besides from the fact that I'll be in New Zealand as from the end of next week, I just can't be arsed. I think the only times I've ever put a tree/decorations up is when I've been in a relationship and she wanted one up! Ooooh errr! Thankfully now single (and loving it), I don't have to bother. ?
  21. You can use the same one as used in the rear. https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-infiniti-nissan-oem-rear-bumper-frame-screw-grommet-universal-01651-00491_p_27501.php
  22. Fasted? Did they stop eating for the day?
  23. Yes, 100% water tight.
