Sl55 Amg
Off to Santa Pod for some real proven times I reckon Trevz? Thats a pretty fast time for a car the size of the Zed.

Well done Mac1
I think the Dragon Rx7 is running a HKS gearbox and thats estimated at close to 1000bhp now (in one of the mags this month). He's done a 9.1 qtr mile.

I don't think you'd stand a chance unless he drives like a monkey! I had an amusing one on the candyrun the other week which was an eye opener. I had a couple of really good drag starts where I nailed a bunch of new Corvettes. After a few poor starts we then tried again and I bogged down and missed my gear changes. He pulled away one handed whilst talking to a mate on his mobile and utterly raped me! He had a little lcd screen on the back window (chavness!) which he put 'bye bye' on! Made me realise that its all very well having half a thousand bhp but if its hard to drive smoothly and he's in a new car with traction control (think he had launch control as well) then unless you have it perfect you don't stand a chance. He didn't even try. Then again I didn't have any Corvettes on my tail at silverstone.... Are you on http://www.fduk.org by the way?

And no armed escort......
Oh my god!!! How did he even get them on it lol! It takes me half an hour to get a low car on a jack to change the wheel! Wow, what a collection.

wow want to trade the z for this !!!!
At least its got three exhaust pipes!? They'll come in handy.
-
where's your dyno ian
Woohoo lets see the numbers! I've got some 1680cc injectors on my Rx7 if you want any more :hyper: :nana2: I think there's more hardcore Zeds around just now than I've ever known. Its going to be a good Zed year I reckon. Hope they show their potential on the strip/track.

Fuel Economy
20miles to a tenner is very low, a properly set up zed should see a lot better fuel economy than that. It sounds like your boost is too high for your set up as well. I'd take Andy's advice and lower the boost and stick in his chip. You may find that sorts things out. Also get hold of a conzult and check your o2 sensors. The other option is to get a programmable ECU and get it properly mapped on a rolling road.

You gotta see this Zed
I think its amazing! Might as well face the facts and admit its not really even a car. Its never going to be driven anywhere and certainly not in a performance manner. Its just a work of art. Personally I'd rather paint a picture as I'd never get a Zed in my living room, which is the only place you would want to put something thats got that much man hours and bling on it. I can't stand any Maxpower or Chavtastic type modding, but I can appreciate that just for the sheer hard work and skill to make a lump of metal look like that. Innit Hommie

what do you all think of this?
The bullsh*t in the advert would make me run a mile. The engine bay doesn't look too bad, it looks like some of the wiring has been sorted, and the paintwork looks fresh (respray?). The nose and spoiler are horrible and the colour scheme clashes but it looks nice for a 17yr old car! Pictures can always lie though I suppose. I find it hard to believe a 17yr old car has only done 64000miles without history. Its probably been clocked before leaving Japan.

Nissan GTR phots
http://www.nagtroc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19749&hl= Looks tasty doesn't it? Shame so many new cars have to get so big and heavy , so much extra power to weight available if the car is lighter. I guess none of the skylines were ever that small anyhow mind.

Well done Mac1
Are you putting the giken internals in? I've been chatting to some people about this for my gearbox who used them in big power skylines. They reckoned that the synchros would always go and that it wasn't worth the cash. I'll see if I can find a link for you as I'm not very up on the details. Here you go, this guy runs a performance garage and has had some very big power cars. He's running a 620atf stripped Rx7 which is pretty mental at 1100kg!! little bit of info here: http://www.fduk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6467&page=11&highlight=gearbox "im not convinced on an uprated gear set, I have had giken gearsets on skylines, but with the skyline standard boxes the synchros would ALWAYS go and you needed the shortened gearing due to the horrific turbo lag. I cant say I have ever had any lag problems with my FD or synchro issues." It's probably old news to you as you've been dealing with the problem for a while now. I'm a bit lost on options at the moment. I think I'm just going to kill standard second hand Rx7 boxes for the time being until a better option comes up. Some people are using Rx8 boxes in some high power drag cars so I might see how they do and possibly try one of those.

Woman tricked into sex......
Ffs! I hope that doesn't get taken seriously. They should give her more 'treatment' for being such a p*ss taker.

Well done Mac1
Chr*st , thats going to be an animal. Did you have much left in the injectors? what gearbox do you have in there now? I've just blown the gearbox on my Rx7, doh!

Quick track day question...
As all the good advice above mate. Take some basic tools with you in case of anything silly that needs doing. You'll go through a lot of tyre on a Zed. I had new pirellis on the rear when I did castle combe and I reckon I went through 1/4 of the tyre in about 5 short track sessions. The brakes were cooked after only a couple of sessions, so expect this to happen. When they get to hot you'll put your foot down on the pedal and there will be nothing there. Its quite scary first time. The best way to drive is as mentioned smooth and ideally learn to match your revs when you down shift, although easier said than done if you havn't been tought how to do it. Just remember to get down to the right speed before the corner. You shouldn't be braking or changing your steering whilst going through the corner (apart from light trail breaking once you get more confident). Study the track before you go so you learn it quickly once there. Then doing a slow sighting lap first. They will have cones out to show your turn in points and the corner apexes so its pretty easier to get it sorted. Quarry corner is the one to watch at Combe. You go over a rise after the start straight and straight into the corner. You need to break before you hit the top of the rise as you lose your grip as you go airbourne a little. I had a hairy moment and ended up spinning and backwards towards the barrier after pulling out of the corner to hard and early (bad line into the corner). I ended up about an inch from the barrier and didn't make the mistake again!

Electro Acoustic Guitars?
I'd agree with Mark. Yamaha have some amazing quality electro-acoustics in that price range. They are as good as many others that are several hundred pounds more. The other ones mentioned are normally more expensive (martin, etc, amazing guitars though). I've got a fender electro acoustic that was about £550 5yrs ago which is very nice as well. I played an ovation roundback jobby for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was worth about 1500 squids though so not your average guitar! Just need to be able to play them better now :mac1:

Passed my 3rd CCNP exam, one to go now.
Its a great direction to take mate, especially if you have access to kit to work on. IP subnetting is the key to the CCNA. As long as you can do that in your head (magic number system, take away the number from 256 for the subnet, its in the books) then you've cracked half of it already. I'm going to carry on working towards the CCIE straight away. The written is supposed to be at CCNP level but the ninja lab exam is legendary by all accounts!

Passed my 3rd CCNP exam, one to go now.
Cheers, I'll take that as a complement  . I don't regret a moment of it in hindsight. I was planning on going to Uni which would have taken 5yrs and been skint for the whole time and still only be earning 18k as a grad. Instead I joined the Marines for 7yrs, did probably the hardest physical training in the world, went to the Arctic, the Dessert, the Jungle, jumped out of planes into the sea, climbed mountains, did all sorts of funky stuff, and came out into a job earning lots more money  It had its downsides as well but its the sort of thing that you get what you make of it. For the record you don't get many Marines who end up as securicor or whatever. Thats a stereotype thats more related to unskilled ex army types. Marines tend to be the sort of people that do quite well in civvy street, if only through sheer determination, hardwork and doggedness! People who I worked with were everything from failed GCSEs to Degree qualified (this was in the ordinary ranks as well) so there's a pretty wide range of people.
