I think i've had enough
Get a daily drive bunny! You're zed will stay off the road during bad weather, petrol will be cheaper, less maintainance, everyones a winner! I thought I had some problems with my Rx7 (turned out to be nothing but a kinked hose, but it might have been worse!), I had so much going on and no money, that I didn't want to worry about so it just lived in the garage for the last 6mths and I used my bmw instead. Now that things have calmed down a bit the car has come out of the garage, realised there was nothing actually wrong with it anyhow (!) , and now I am in a position to be able to drive it again and havn't drove it in shit winter weather so its just as good nick as is was last summer :-)

Very Disturbing
You didn't read my post properly. I don't mean to drag on and make people sick of it but theres things here which are just not realised (at least I didn't!). There were SIX ice ages in the last 650,000yrs shown on that graph. On each one the CO2 levels and temperature were very much related to each other. We are now at a levels not seen ever in all those years of 6 ice-ages. All it would take would be the temperature to go up some more and things would go very very pair shaped. Its also worth pointing out that if the mean temperature continues to rise we wont just be living in nice sunny balmy weather. We will be living in extremely violent changing weather. If a significant change in the ice caps happened (Greenland being the current most likely) and spewed cold water into the N.Atlantic then it would effect the gulf stream, stopping its motion of warm water into the North. The last time this happened Europe went back into an ice-age. I don't think our particular hobbies are the cause of it, I think the cause is the world wide attitude of ignoring it. We can sort it out without living like a bunch of hippies not using electricity, we just need to acknowledge that SOMETHING is going on and we need to change. The attitude that its just a reason to tax the people is just cynical. Why has there been such a resistance to legislation to changes from governments if this is the case?

How chuffed! back on the road for the spring and no issues!
Can't quite believe it :D I have hardly used the banana in the last prob almost 6mths partly due to the winter but mainly because I've developed smoking on idle. I wasn't really expecting anything bad as the engine was a new build beginning of last year but its still a bit worrying. It looked like turbo issues as it was unburnt (greyish) oil type smoking but the turbo is nearly new so I couldn't understand it. Work and life stresses have been the order of the day for a while and I've not had time or inclination to mess about with the car apart from giving it a wizz every so often to keep it sweet and see if the smoke miracuously dissapeared!:) We are moving to a new rented house in a few weeks and I didn't want to rock up with a loud AND smoking beast so I thought I'd try to work out whats going on. I pulled off the intake filter the other day and found the oil return tube was quite badly kinked. To start with I didn't go any furthur as I thought it best to speak with Geff at Reworx as they built it. I figured premature turbo seals failure was a possibility. Anyway after having a chat I went out and moved the return tube so it wasn't kinked and now its sorted :D :D I've probably only done 20 or 30 miles in the last 6mths because of that lol!! I reckon it must have changed shape from the heat whilst going around silverstone and got kinked up.

Very Disturbing
Thought I'd bring this thread back up after watching Al Gores documentary 'An Inconveinient Truth', and seeing some reactions to the C4 documentary (which I didn't see unfortunately as we don't have TV) used for defence by some people to ignore global warming. There was an article in the Independent yesterday about the data used by the documentary. The main graph used showing temperature over the last 120yrs (stupidly small scale anyway but more of that in a mo!) only actually went to the early 1980s. The program makers (and they admitted 'there was a fluff there' to the paper) actually extended the axis to the yr 2000. The real graphs show a direct and very big rise in temp over the last 20yrs, very obviously linking it to the rise in c02 in the atmosphere. Another part of the program talked about a link between Temp and solar activity. The programs data was 16YRS old, and since been corrected by Nasa. Next was a graph supposedly showing that temperature during the medieval warm period was hotter than now. Again this was 16yrs old and up to date shows that temp are significantly hotter now. The ten hottest years on record have occured in the last 14yrs Al Gores documentary shows a temperature Co2 graph that goes back 650,000yrs (as compared to 120yrs!). I tried to do a screen grab but the dvd is protected and I couldn't do it. Here is my dodgy sketch of it. Its pretty faithful. The dips show the last 6 ice ages. The little bump at the end shows the bump that was talked about in the documentary. Its not hard to see over 650,000 yrs (!) how temperature links to Co2. Another interesting point is that the difference between the high and low points of the temperature is the difference between as we are now and A MILE OF ICE!! how much difference will that make on the hot side!!! Actually you know next to nothing about the way I live. My rx7 has done about 1500 miles in the last 10mths. I've worked extremely hard to get a job that I work from home an average of 3 days or more per week, and so avoiding travelling by car every day (and rush hour thankfully). My day to day drive is another gas guzzling bmw with 220,000 on the clock which we use to tow. I'm certainly no angel but I'm doing my best to improve things the more I find out about what is happening. Its worth noting that the rise in Co2 can actually be reversed if as a population we make the right changes. Its not Armegeddon. Its not the fact that we have so-called 3ltr gas guzzlers (or in my case a 1.2ltr rotary that drinks more!) that is causing global warming. Its our overall attitude of procrastination in general that is causing it. There are so many ways that we can change things, which don't have to involve selling our beloved cars!

Anyone been to or recommend.....
I went there a few years back mate. As long as you arn't in the package holiday hotels its very nice. The main package holiday tourist areas are outside of the main town on the north side of the Island , Corello (?). This is looking towards it from one of the small mountains: The island in the background is Los Lobos, an uninhabited nature reserve with amazing surf, this is the opposite view looking towards the small mountains: , and areas along the east coast (more sheltered than the big surf west coast). The main income is through tourists so there are developments everywhere around the main towns but then the rest of the island is like a volvanic desert like this in the north: This is the west coast (20ft surf, hugggggeee!) This is Playa de Salinas in the far south, bit of a drive, a lot off road but stunning and away from the tourists I think the nicest areas are probably around the south west where there is hardly any development and its a bit greener. Look out for the shipwreck as you go through the beautiful hill drives :-) Hire cars are pretty cheap by the way, the locals tout for them at the airport so you don't need to go with the expensive normal ones. Its a funny place really as its either 'Costa del p*ss up' in the tourist holes or very desolete in the areas. You definately score better if you get a hire car and go offroad and explore. I killed three hire cars in the 6wks I was there!!
