Black exhausts
Guys I have nice shiny polished stainless exhausts but - if I clean them, after only a couple of days they are covered in black again. Is this evidence of a fuel mixture problem or just normal ? Mark

900hp - how much ?
Guys I was browsing through Unique Autosports web site and came across a 300 with 900hp under the bonnet !  Anyone know anyone who's gotten anywhere near this figure ? How much do you reckon it would cost ? Obviously it's going to require MAJOR drivetrain upgrading etc but it's a nice idea....... And it does look flaming amazing too !! Mark

Lukes new front bumper
Mac, how much are we talking about for one ? And is it fibreglass only ? Mark

am i unique
My manual gearbox and ancilliaries came out of a crashed SWB TT hard-top. It was a '96 car in silver. Didn't even realise they were that rare. I should have offered for the whole car !! It only needed a drivers side wing and some door work....oh well. I guess writing that one off made them even rarer then :D It also had the 16" BBS alloys stamped 'Nissan' which I haven't seen anywhere else. Mark

Creaking Front Brakes
I think it is pretty common. I'v ejust fitted a new brace for the master cylinder to eliminate flexing and the creaking has gone. Mark

Creaking Front Brakes
Jonce Are you sure it's not the bulkhead creaking when it flexes as you apply pressure to the pedal ? Mark

Braided brake lines
Just finished fitting the fronts - much easier than the rears !! Together with the brace they seem to have eliminated any sponginess that existed before. There's no creaking and groaning from the bulkhead when I stand on the pedal and when it bottoms out there's no movement despite pushing harder.

rear brake line
Hi Jock I spent all day yesterday fitting braided hoses to the rears - fronts is next saturday. These two fittings were VERY difficult to undo but as long as you use plenty of releasing agent and go easy you'll get there. I believe they are 10 mm. I lost my temper with the fitting on the other end of the rubber hose and f*cked it as well as my nuckles :D I had to get a local spares shop to make up a new piece to connect to the caliper housing. £5 and four band-aids later it's all sorted. I also fitted a Cusco brace to the master cylinder - the difference is amazing !! Highly recommend it ! Good luck.. Mark

Fire extinguisher
Guys More prep for thrashing it on a track..... Any tips on where to fit in the cabin? I would guess on the passenger side of the gearbox tunnel but I'm worried that if I drill two holes to mount it what am i drilling into and will it create two attack zones for the dreaded rust or even worse two holes for water to ingress into the cabin ? Has anyone fitted one and if so where and how ? As always much appreciated.... Mark

Brembo drilled and groved discs
James Have you done anything - such as enamel or anodising - with the centres of the discs (Where the pads don't have any contact and where the wheels bolt on) ? Mine are showing a little oxidisation. Would prefer shiny or colour if poss..........does anyone know if it's possible to chrome the discs all but where the pads contact ? Bit 'blingy' I know but just wondered..... Mark

Well I think so :D Their details are: Mastergrade 1442 E. 33rd St. Long Beach, CA 90807Toll-Free 1.866.424.4549 http://www.mastergrade.net Mark

I really appreciate all the thoughts guys. Tim, can I ask who your insurer is as mine (Admiral) declined to cover me. I'm booking through 'easytrack' and noticed a 'TT Tim' on there.......you ?

Track days
Thanks Stuart. I've recently (200 miles) replaced the discs with Brembos (original size) and some Greenstuff pads. I'll be fitting a brake brace and braided lines too, so I should be able to last the day. And the tyres are Yokohamas with about 6,000 miles on them - mostly in a straight line as opposed to sideways :) I'm hoping to strap a video camera to the dash or my helmet (no jokes please) and hopefully get it on here - although if I stuff it into the armco I'll porbably not be that keen to share it ! I think the hardest bit of advice to follow will be the 'hero' stuff. I can get awfully competitive ! I expect the Elises and Caterhams and such like will cane me through the bends but what about 911's etc ? Do I stand any chance ? Mark

Track days
Thanks for the tips Konrad. I'm hoping for Goodwood on March 6th. The track day up in Derby or wherever it is is simply too far, as much as I'd love to be there........... Mark

Track days
Guys Any tips on this ? How are my brakes gonna stand up ? Does brake fade occur suddenly and you go head long into a barrier/gravel trap or is it progressive ? Tyres ? F**ked after 1 lap ? Fuel ? How much should I carry in the tank ? Will a full tank unbalance the car ? Any and all thoughts and experiences will be gratefully received. Thanks Mark

Targa central bar query
I replaced the whole thing with a new Nissan part from Wilson's in Epsom, Surrey for £68.00. Expensive I guess but it looks great as the plastic coating on the bar had started to perish and peel away too. It must get awfully hot and sunny over in Japan  Mark
