Zevans - thanks. Andyduff - what a c*ck ! We're not all as clever as you. If I needed a childish comment I'd speak to my niece who's three and who at least would be trying to help.......

Boost question
Guys I've just fitted a Greddy boost guage - courtesy of Baz - and now I'm confused about what it's telling me. If I'm just driving along the guage reads negative. If I'm on slight acceleration it may creep up to zero and if I really give it some then the guage will climb to 0.5 bar maximum but no more than that. Is this right ? If the guage is giving me a negative reading unless under acceleration doesn't this mean that it's blocking the input tract ? I would have thought it would only ever read zero or above.....  Mark

Engine rebuild - how much ?
Just thinking about the engine for sale....... Any ideas on cost for a rebuild, new parts like pistons, cams, crank, rods, bearings etc. Cost of refurbing the tubs ? Or just get some new bigger ones ? Mark

Maximum revs
There've been quite a few graphs posted over time and all the engines seem to run out of steam at about 7k rpm ish. What's the factory spec rev limit and what can you reasonably take them to with modding internals etc ? I was watching Top gear the other night and Vicki B-H mentioned that the Honda S2000 didn't get into it's stride until 8,000 rpm !!! Or I may have mis-heard that bit :D I bet the Z would wail like a banshee at 8-10,000 rpm !!!!! Mark

What Wheel??
Hi Alex It was pretty easy. Copious amounts of brake cleaner followed by a good going over with a Dremmel with the brass brush head to get everything off back to clean metal. Then *cough* Halfords enamel in a blue that was similar to my car colour painted on with a brush. I didn't avoid the logo or anything and then just removed the enamel from the logo using the Dremmel and brass brush. I haven't lacquered them - didn't think about it really. I use *cough* Halfords wheel cleaner occassionally on the wheels and of course it oversprays onto the calipers and seems to do the job of keeping them bright. I think it's well worth doing, although I was VERY tempted (and still am) to get them and all the associated metalwork (track rods, steering arms etc) chromed like an American hot-rod. Cheers Mark

Are track days really worth it?
That sounds like something Ken Livingstone would say........... "People who drive 300+horsepower cars on the streets of our country are complete idiots" There are probably people out there who will welcome GPS monitoring of your speed at all times relative to the speed limit of where you are at all times. There are only a few motoring pleasures left, one of which is track days. I wouldn't say that people who are happy to partake of such events are idiots IMO. Mark

Are track days really worth it?
I did Brands Hatch in my Z (Stu kindly posted the pics for me) and I have to say that it was just brilliant. Of course you have to keep your brain in gear at all times and remember that it's NOT competitive, and also the marshals will have you off the circuit quicker than you can blink if they think you are acting up. At the end of the day what's the point of owning a car such as the Z which is so well engineered and built for speed/handling if you only ever drive it on the sh*t roads provided by our friend Tony ? I'll be doing more as soon as my suspension and brakes are sorted and I really do think it's worth the risk. Mark
