Which Gearbox...
I did see a bochure that had an HKS 6-speed sequential box for £4,500 for the Z32. I'm still buying lottery tickets in the hope.............

Track days........getting there...........
Hi Amdrew Thanks for that. I was just going to make sure they were on f**king tight :D Just thinking - how on earth would you get a torque wrench on the back of the calipers ? (Actually I don't have the car here or a torque wrench for that matter so i may be asking a completely stupid question :nelson: ) Mark

Track days........getting there...........
Hi Kirbz They are off an R33 GTR V-Spec Skyline. Same as the R34 GTR's except the colour - black on the 33 and gold on the 34. Should make a BIG difference in braking. Did you fit yours or were they already on the car ? Mark

Bye Bye Zeds ?
I was in Toronto too in September and only saw one red N/A, a two-seater. Also a minger - the same car maybe !! I was in Miami a week or so ago and again only saw one. I was asking a guy I got talking to in a 'speed and custom' shop about the Z and he said that they were still prohibitively expensive over there !! Can our terrible resale values be down to the cost of fuel and our bad fuel consumption maybe ? A little ?

What do you think of these alloys?
Do they come with one pair having the vanes going on the opposite direction so that when they are on the car the effect is the same both sides ?

New Supra
From the side it looks like a kitted Vanquish or perhaps the b*stard child of a Vanquish and a MBW Z4.........maybe :)

Track Day - How much??
Lifted off their site........... Events - car preperation Although modern cars are built to withstand stresses above those that they will experience on the road, standard production cars are not built with track work in mind. However, there are a few simple things you can do to help ensure the car will come with the extra stresses and go home in the same condition it arrived: 1) Check that your brake disks and pads are in tiptop condition. Make sure if you need to change the pads that you have time to bed them in well before taking to the track (min 100 miles use). Many regular trackday enthusiasts upgrade the disks, pads and brake fluid they use which on top of improving track performance, will also make your car safer for the road. The forum is a good place to ask for advise. 2) Tyres. The actual part of the car making contact with the track needs to be in very good condition and set at the right pressures. There is no hard and fast rule here, as it will be determined by the make of car and the make of tyre, also the track conditions and your own personal preference. Many people choose to increase the pressure by around 10% and find that tyre wear is less of a problem. Some vehicles find increased grip from lowering the pressure, maybe only on one axle. The trick is to check the pressures are even and check them when they are at track temperatures. One thing is for sure though, you should make any adjustments at the track and return the tyres to normal road pressures before you leave. 3) Your engine will spend more time at high revs than ever before, check that all the filters and belts are in good order and pay particular attention to the oil level. Bring some oil with you, as it is normal for an engine to “burn” some during a trackday. Keep an eye on the level during the day keeping it close to or at the max. Be careful not to overfill though. Upgrading the oil to one that can handle higher temperatures is a good idea and some of our most enthusiastic and dedicated members will explain how they change the oil before and after each event! 4) Suspension and steering parts will help define how well your car handles, and hence how comfortable you will feel out on the track. Make sure these parts are in good working order and don’t be tempted to take to the track (or road for that matter) with faulty or worn parts. 5) Bodywork should be in good order, as we don’t want wheel covers (either tie these on or remove them for the event), bumpers and wings leaving your car while you are driving! 6) Make sure that you remove everything from the car that is not firmly fixed down. Pens and soft drinks cans can become lethal projectiles. Make sure you remove everything from the boot of the car too, in some cases this means the spare wheel also, there is always somewhere to keep things at an event, while you are on the track (remember that neither the circuit or easytrack can take responsibility for belongings so leave that PC at home!). 7) Bring some electrical or gaffer tape along and tape up the lights before going on circuit. 8) A simple tool kit is handy to have. 9) Fire extinguishers are not compulsory, and indeed if there is an incident the Fire Marshals will take care of any fire. However, it’s recommended that you purchase an in-car fire extinguisher to keep in the cabin of the car. Make sure it is secure in it’s mounting though and will stay firmly fixed in the event of an accident. 10) Fuel! This sounds obvious, but it’s very important. You will not be averaging 35mpg while on the track, indeed less than 10mpg can be more realistic once you are a little more experienced. Be sure to have at least half a tank of fuel in you car before each session as if you run out on the track your car will be pushed by the marshals to a safe place and left there until the end of the day. Under NO circumstances will you be allowed back on the track, it’s a silly mistake and risks stopping track activity for others.

Track Day - How much??
I did a track day at Brands Hatch - Indy Circuit. It was open pit-lane which meant you could be in and out all day - or until your brakes gave up - like mine did :D I paid £189 plus £20 for a session with a circuit instructor and another £20 for a helmet as I didn't have my own (no jokes please). All I can say is that it is the BEST time you could possibly have in a Zed !! I am defintely IN for this - provided it's a reasonable distance as if I break it I will need to get it home somehow. I like the idea of Z only but it is interesting to see how our 'old' cars compare on a track against some of the modern stuff. I more than held my own on track, only being spanked by Westfields, Caterhams and the 'specials' like Radical etc. Also some of the Skyline guys were seriously quick but I wouldn't say they were necessarily factory spec though. There was a guy in a BoxterS who couldn't get near me except through the tighter bends but once on the straight I was gone :D Mark

Unorthodox Racing pulleys
Guys Lightened pulleys seem like a good idea so.... Should I get just the crank pulley or get the whole set ? Also will I need a new belt(s?) ? How much is a new belt(s?) ? I met a guy at a meet not so long ago who said to avoid these as they don't have a damper as fitted by Nissan and therefore will damage the bottom end of the engine (bearings I presume). Any thoughts or advice as always very much appreciated. Cheers Mark

In pursuit of track glory......
Back in the spring time I spent a fantastic day at Brands Hatch driving my Z round the Indy circuit as I think it was intended - b*lls out ! :D Any way, the up-shot was that the track revealed the very soft nature of the car. It was quite wallowy in the turns and understeered through every corner. Safe but frustrating. So.........following the fitment of some racing spec adjustables and stiffer anti-roll bars the car is now off to get the rest of the suspension components fitted - including a poly bush kit not pictured. It's taken me a while to collect them all - all came from the States and of course it's easier to get it through the house-hold expenditure when it's a bit at a time :) Next up it's brakes........... I'll keep things posted and of course will video my next track excursion. Cheers Mark

RuSSian 300zx
I believe the wheels are ADR M-Sport. They are available in staggered sizes ie 18 x 8.5 front and 18 x 9.5 rear......I think that's what they are anyhow :) Mark PS Welcome to the forum.

Warning on Energy Suspension Rod bushings...
Phew !!!

Warning on Energy Suspension Rod bushings...
Would I be right in thinking that fitting fully adjustable tension rods will side-step this issue as it seems to be 'twisting' of the factory rod that is the problem ? The adjustables have a ball joint (I'm not sure if that's the right term) at one end to allow for rotation to a degree. Mark

Another brake question
The calipers are 4-pot and the discs are 332mm two-piece. The kit is in Japan. Based on what you've all said I've ordered it :) Cheers Mark PS There's only one kit I'm afraid.

Another brake question
Guys I know a few people have Skyline brakes so....if a brake kit is designed to fit a R32 GTR will it adapt easily enough to the Z ? I found this kit for about £500 and will have it if they will fit. Cheers for any advice.... Mark
