Women Z owners
As Ian's just said, it was weekend of relaxation for me more than anything. I should really apologise to a couple of people who wanted to talk "business" with me (Tom and Ash, at least) as there's a very real chance that I came across as completely disinterested! :( Coupled to the fact that I didn't take an oxygen canister with me, I probably didn't really speak to that many people at length. I let Fran do the bulk of "our" socialising, I think.... Oops!!

Women Z owners
In all honesty, I'm not sure whether our stand got a lot of attention over the weekend - a lot of people walked past but, at least when I was paying attention, I didn't see many people stopping to ask questions or take photos. I don't know whether that was the same for the majority of clubs there or not. Maybe the bulk of our cars were "too standard" to garner interest at a show like that...?

Is it not just a case of pretty much everyone on our stand having essentially the same car...? I didn't get asked very much about mine either. Someone did ask me if I did the interior myself... someone from this very forum... seriously! But it was just general chit-chat for the most part. Also most people present would be reasonably familiar with peoples' spec lists from here as well. In my opinion, all factors in why nobody seemed to want to talk Zeds with you, Trish :)

JAE after thoughts
There were a couple on the ExtremeBHP stand, a couple on the Outlaw Jap stand, Gibster and another supporting Dasstech's trade stand, and Zulley was off with his local club. No doubt one or two others dotted about here and there as well. For people wanting to see the single largest grouping of Z32s (and indeed other Zcars), our stand was the winner. Part of the problem, I think, is that our stand was dominated by the Z32. There were only two or three Z33s there, a 280ZX and, on the Sunday, a 260Z (I think). Unless people are very interested in Z32s, there wasn't a lot to see. I'd have much preferred a bigger selection of all Z cars on our stand and I was genuinely surprised by the weak turnout from the other clubs who we shared the stand with! Personally, I thought it was nice to see such a varied selection of Z32 in one place. From the highly modified to the relatively stock, and 2+2s and 2+0s (both targa and slicktop), I enjoyed looking around them all. But then, I rather like the Z32....

Yep! I'm a happy man today!

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
MOT time!! After a false start yesterday when the garage couldn't even get the Zed onto the ramps to start an inspection, I got booked in this morning somewhere else and she sailed through with only a couple of advisories! Happy Mondo :thumbup1:

pcv valved re-visited tech
White/blue smoke, only ever at idle. There's no smoke on throttle or gear changes. It's only ever at idle, and not all the time either.

pcv valved re-visited tech
Ok. The ones I've taken off have one end "blocked" by default by the plunger. This plunger can be depressed using a screwdriver, but snaps back into the "closed" position as soon as that pressure is released. So according to Jeff's info (and the fact that it rattles freely when shaken), that valve should be ok, yes? Whereas the two I've just fitted rattle nicely but the plunger will move without pressure from a screwdriver and doesn't snap closed by default. Confused!!

pcv valved re-visited tech
Ok, just to bump an old topic: I've just changed my PCV valves as I was getting occasional smoke from the O/S tailpipe whilst idling. I've changed them for a secondhand pair that rattle nicely, but doing some reading on here now has me a bit confused. In Jeff's tech stuff above, he states that the valve is spring-loaded so, whilst rattling it will get it to make a noise, it'll default to the "closed" position when you stop shaking it. That's exactly what the two I've just taken off do. However, in another thread (that I don't have the link for right now), Ian Greenfield stated that he got a new pair from MJP and they weren't spring-loaded inside! So which scenario is correct please? I haven't had chance to take the car out since changing them so I don't if they've made any difference to the smoking or not. But should I be concerned or not that the valves I've just fitted have no tension inside them...?

SWB & LWB exhaust differences?
A Google search suggests that there's a fair amount of difference between the two, so I think that answers my question. Unless someone here has tried adapting one to fit the other...?

SWB & LWB exhaust differences?
As per the title, just how different are the cat-back exhaust systems between the two floorpans?

JAE 10th -13th September 2015
We've just got home now. It was great to finally put some names to faces, even if some of you (Mr Phoenix!) weren't anything like I was expecting! Apologies for dropping off the radar last night as well... cluster headache plus no oxygen supply means I hit the sack way too early. Thanks to everyone for being so friendly and accomodating, especially of our two delinquent dogs

JAE 10th -13th September 2015
I'm taking some cleaning supplies, but I'm expecting it to still be raining there when we arrive so....
-
JAE 10th -13th September 2015
Well, Fran got up 30 minutes ago (I've been up since 2.45!) and it started to rain here about 10 minutes ago... typical. :( That'll be two filthy cars arriving at Newark in about 3 hours then!

JAE 10th -13th September 2015
Well, that's both cars now cleaned (my Zed and her Celica) and ready to head down the A1 to JAE early tomorrow morning! Looking forward to this!

What did you do to your zed today?
Cheers Scott. God knows what she'll look like after driving to Newark in the rain tomorrow morning though! :(

What did you do to your zed today?
There's always some winter project or other with these cars! My winter project, apart from the rear subframe renovation, might involve a revamped interior....
