technical problem, second opinions please.
Thanks Si, my air con is totally removed, it has always put the idle up by 100/200rpm on the air con circuit. But now it goes uo by about 700rpm and whirrs loudly.

Thanks mate. I am really wound up over that car at the minute. After Mark fixed it up I drove it about 10 times before it got failed on that MOT. Then after bodymech I perhaps drove it 5 times now its tits, I go to the Falklands next month, if it doesn't get fixed before then it will sit in a car park for 10 weeks covered in snow and seagull shit. I can't drive it, dont know how to fix it. All my work is done in a ever cooling car park. I can't trailer it. I was considering paying peoples air/rail fare to get experts up to the car. Because it costs a absolute fortune to get that car to bloody Nottingham and back.

Why would the idle jump up too far when I turn the air con on accompanied by a loud whirr? I really want to fix my car, get bits ordered but dont know where to start.

One for Funky Simon
I read what you wrote clearly, then did a double take, it's like one of those dyslexia things where you only get the first and last letter of each word and can scan it fine. Perhaps it's the exposure to lots of garbled forum posts that mean I could probably read Russian now!

That's pretty bad, why has he laid it out like some kind of poem, no full stops but capitals on new lines! He is probably foreign.

Its fine, really scratching my head. I didn't mention the idle air issue did I. I have just tried to clean the idle air unit with WD40 because the idle wasn't starting at 1500 like it should, it was about 1000 and it was faultering if you put a small amount of throttle on. It would dip, shudder then rev. I spent ages today, tidying up all the vac lines that are all fine and cleaning that thing. But now it ticks loudly, idles badly, smokes from the back of the engine on both sides. The revs float about when you change gear. :headvswall: I am so worried. However, the 1.5mile drive back to the mess from work just now, it wasnt too bad. Idle was about 1000 jumping to 1500 on the air con button, with a loud whoosh and electrical servo noises??? And it was quickly going through 70 degrees oil temp. What on earth is up with it!

There is something up with my zed. It got really hot last time I drove it, the oil temperature was up at 95 rather than it's usual 80 and I only have stock water temp gauge so the water was between very hot and very cold. It got hot under very light driving but seemed to plateau at 95, I couldn't get it down and shut it off. The oil is the same as always, just changed along with the oil filter. Other things I have disturbed recently shouldnt have an impact on the temp. I thought the viscous fan may be shot, but after a read up and a look this morning, it seemed fine. Turned fine by hand, whooshed on start and very quickly went quiet. The oil pressure is good and the only other fault is some sort of cold start idle air issue, I will clean the inlet idle... whatever that system is near the battery. However, there is a twittering high pitched whine fron the frontish bottomish of the engine. And it was tappjng like hell this morning from the top. Could the tap be a blocked oil gallery? Could the whine be a knackered oil/water pump? There has been a rare start up belt squeal so could it still be the fan? And I checked the oil level, it's fine. Thanks for your help.

tyres. peoples that are running with
Toyos are really good but soft, yokohama parada 2s are also good, really strong dry grip, less so in the wet but again soft. Budget tyres on a zed gave me wheelspin in 5th in the wet. I ran maxxis v specs for a while which are perfectly alright tyres. 7/10 all round perfectly good tyres. But they did crack and lost the corners. So I have kuhmo bmw 325i sort of tyres on the back for predictable medium grip levels and vredestein ultrac sessantas on the front, they are the best tyres of those I have listed.

Don't buy an XTD clutch, phutumsch was lucky and got a good one, I didn't. Mine felt a lot faster Ian with those, if its enough you can feel it they must be 15hp each.

No thanks Spin, I got that Alcantara one, atm it is pick'n'mix Black and Grey. If I added Cream to that it would look like a right statement!

I have liked your page, it could do with a bit of re-wording in my opinion. To really get across what your business can offer. I am no Duncan Bannatyne mate, so tell me to shut up if you like, but what about getting 500 cards made up by something similar to Vista print and then going round some car parks putting them under wipers? I don't know if that is legal, but its a cheap way of reaching quite a few people, the cards will end up in the cars, it also allows you to be savvy about exactly which cars and which car parks you advertise to.

Drive train rattle?
Mark Derby told me it's a manual zed thing too. Mine does it under load any gear below 2000rpm. Like an over torque shingle. I never do it but when other people drive my car they seemingly go totally deaf and rattle and short shift the full journey, "pack it in! Change down you crackpot!"
