  1. Already scratched the wing if I am honest, I don't think it was me it was a helper's fly :(, but it isn't a garage queen, it has chips and all sorts on it. I do my very best but you can't drive a car balled in bubble wrap. Anyway, yeah the boost solenoid, there is one each side, I thought it was a carbon canister thing, the left hand side one has an open port on it, should it be blanked off or run to somewhere? Edit. Those pictures look enormous on my desktop! I promise they were a sensible size on my phone.
  2. I have just been affected by the hurricane. I thought id just put a waft more clear laquer on my fan. Stood back to the wind... laquered my face. Just been rinsing my eyes out with a clean yoghurt pot and warm water. To an observer it may have looled like I was doing an eyeball paul thing with muller rice!

  4. Hi mate, it's not easy owning a zed away from specialist garages. If you're not already a handy mechanic you soon will be, take that as a good thing, read up on here when you need to, ask questions, take a deep breath and get stuck in. It will be all the more rewarding for it. :clover:
  5. And they cross over, they join up left onto right and right onto left.
  6. Hi Lee, welcome to the club, get some pics up, I love S13s. What to say about zeds. They can be a number of things, a cruiser, fast road car, muscle car, drifter, track car. Mine is a fast road car, but naturally they are a GT/cruiser. A stock one is sort of fast, but not in a fiery way, more motorway monster, very comfortable and a lovely place to sit. If you want somethjng naturally more suited to going very fast, you want a 2 seater hard top, rather than the more common long wheelbase targa. However my LWB TT Manual Targa, is modified in every aspect to be a very good all rounder. I drive it 400 miles in comfort, it has been tracked, it will dance across a Scottish twisty, squeaking, throttle steering and lunging at the horizon. These cars are very good... having said that, we have had a lot of bodywork on the forum this year and a few cases of mechanical dramas. Mine has got brittle rubbers and electrics that are currently being swapped for new bits. That is very common, and look underneath, closely. Good luck mate :thumbup1:
  7. Meister r zeta s with stock arms and stillen ARBs (my set up) totally alright. There is no unit of crashiness, no quantifiable way to put it, but it's smack bang central on a scale that goes from shopping trolley to hovercraft.
  8. You've been a bit unclear there. You did 5 miles without the uprated chip? Or You changed the chip and the injectors, drove 5 miles, then changed the chip again?
  9. I've had 2 cheapo 2000reg 2.0 coupes, they've done me well. Never driven the V6. On RX8s, lovely to drive, nice place to sit but didn't feel thay fast even though it was, and used an enourmous amount of fuel from what I remember. I would have one, but it would need to be cheap to buy to leave me money for fuel.
  10. Think you're shifting a bit too quick  awesome work Bob :thumbup1:
  11. Thats a good point that Spin raises about normal garages. Just do it yourself and get help from on here.
  12. Hey man :thumbup1: welcome to the club. Wether you want concours, fast road, fast track or fast through the KFC drive through people here will help you do it... perhaps not that last one :)
  13. All of the above really. This big overhaul needs to be done within a month so I am looking everywhere for this stuff. Series 2 PTU is the main item. I will probably ebay a loom but if there is one on here please let me know. Idle air control valve, the newer the better. Injectors possibly, new OEM, reconditioned considered, 555s or smaller considered. Thanks guys.
  14. Does someone on here sell S2 PTU conversion kits? I may need a bit of guidance here but I am going to get a new loom http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm?itemId=271564214637 And with it new PTU, sensors and injectors. Will that fit a RHD car? Being from the US.
  15. Don't worry Si, they will look like Jeremy Clarkson made them  I'll still have a set from you. But just to get the door cards in. I'll need to make a wooden inner bit and measure the mounting points. Artist's impression
  16. Im gonna re loom it! I've had a brave pill and I'm just gonna do it :sweatdrop: So some advice please regarding, looms injectors and ptu. Because the new looms come in a load of configurations. P.s. progress report all the door cards are off and laid out on the floor for a UK spec to Jap spec seatbelt conversion. And some TW designs arm pads.
  17. Selin Dual MAF Translator mate. They sell two, one with 9 inches of wire and one with 9 feet :wack: they only had the long one in when I ordered mine.
  18. I heard mixed reports on pvc delete. About needing a catch can, how leaving it alone is better... It was the biggest pita to remove during the pull. 4 bolts from hell on the forward lower plenum, 2 each side. I was removing relays from the fuse box just to get a spanner in.
  19. With the plenum off but everything else in, a full loom swap is possible then??? And yeah, there is a nest of crap down the back of that block.
  20. Hi Zeddy, welcome to the club. I am going through the getting carried away and going too far phase myself . Z31s are proper old school, 1980s flip up light jobbers, they look a bit like 80s corvettes. With yours being a non turbo it should be more straight forward and cheaper to get it up to good condition, even if there are a few problems with it. David from up this way has a rusty but mechanically sound red NA, that alone would probably get you any replacements you may need. :clover:
  21. I decided to bite the bullet, stop worrying, and sort my engine out. This thread should be a good one, pictures, progress and panic I should imagine. Before the month is out, the car will drive out of my friends garage purring. Problem one, rough running. Solution PLENUM OFF! I did this in 10 short hours  yesterday. I am going to check all 6 cylinders have good injectors and good spark. Plus air leaks. And sort another bloody oil leak at the back. So, the oil leak appears to be pcv related, dripping onto the turbo. More on that later. The injectors and wiring are dreadful! So with that and things like temperature sensors I may have to get new injectors and a new loom??? Or just a partial loom advice on re looming please, or just getting new ends or whatever. My IACV thing is in a state. I am going to auto sol the shit out of my plenum. Finish the interior conversion. Do my white LEDs. You drove me to this you little red nightmare. It would have been more economical and less stressful to take up some other hobby, like crystal meth perhaps  Hope there is plenty for us all to learn in this thread :) comments and advice appreciated :thumbup1:
